He could not fathom why the NDC is quite over the explosive comment made by its Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande.

The police is investigating Mr. Gbande for urging NDC supporters to carry cutlasses and guns to polling stations during the 2024 elections to protect ballot boxes.

“I have told the leadership of the NDC that we have to prepare in advance for the NPP ahead of the elections. When we are going to the polling station, let’s carry with us cutlasses. If we do, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not be able to misbehave toward us” Mr. Gbande is quoted to have said.

This comment by the politician, the police said could incite violence hence the need to nib it in the bud.

Reacting to this, Koku Anyidoho said NDC leadership should have dissociated themselves from the comment.

“What I want to say is that if they want to take cutlasses and guns to the polling station to protect the ballot boxes, let them go ahead. But it is sad because the picture that some of these things paint to international bodies is not looking good for the NDC” he said.

“For me, Koku Anyidoho, if I had been at that headquarters, and somebody speaks like this, I would have issued a statement to that effect” he added.

The former NDC Deputy General Secretary said Mustapha Gbande is shifting the focus of discussion from the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama to himself.

“The flagbearer is talking about a 24-hour economy, and you are talking about cutlasses and guns so, is that what we want as the subject of discussion? Does that mean the flagbearer also supports such action because the last time it happened in his office?” Mr. Anyidoho quizzed.

Mahama thinks Ghana was created for him – Koku Anyidoho fires https://www.adomonline.com/mahama-thinks-ghana-was-created-for-him-koku-anyidoho-fires/ Fri, 12 May 2023 13:09:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2248395 Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has lashed out at former President John Dramani Mahama for seeking to be President again.

Mr Anyidoho, who is strongly opposed to Mr Mahama’s bid to be elected president after being voted out in the 2016 elections is wondering why the former President is seeking to return to office to rule.

He contends that there are spiritual repercussions if a chief is destooled and later enstooled.

According to the one-time Director of Communications at the Presidency under late President John Evans Atta Mills, Ghana will suffer both economically and spiritually if Ghanaians vote to elect Mr Mahama as president.

“You don’t destool a chief and enstool him later. It’d be a curse,” Mr Anyidoho told journalists.

The soar relationship between Mr Anyidoho and former President John Dramani Mahama is a matter of public record spanning from the days when the two worked under late President Mills.

Known for his unrestrained criticism of the NDC flagbearer aspirant, Mr Anyidoho suggested that what Mr Mahama is seeking to do with his reelection bid is alien to the customary and spiritual norms of the country in terms of leadership.

“Another one spiritually is that this sword that the president holds to swear the part of the office, spiritually you can only hold it twice. Jerry Rawlings held it twice in 1992 and 1996.

“President Kufuor held it twice in 2000 and 2004. President Mills held it once, he died and he left. John Mahama, on the night of 24th July 2012 you held the sword of State and you swore an oath. On the 7th of January 2013, you held the sword of State and swore again. You held it twice,” he said.

While intimating that any attempt to take a third oath of office by Mr Mahama is tantamount to sacrilege, the former NDC Deputy General Secretary added that “Why does John Mahama think that Ghana was created for him and he will come and mess the nation up spiritually and physically? It won’t happen and cannot happen.”
