During a parliamentary session on Monday, March 16, Mr. Nokoe sought clarity from the Minister for Energy and Green Transition on the timeline for completing and operationalizing the facility. He stressed that the project is vital for improving access to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and boosting economic activity in the area.

In response, Minister Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor explained that the LPG bottling plant, located in Axim in the Western Region, is being implemented as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project under the National Cylinder Recirculation Programme on behalf of Ghana Gas.

Dr. Jinapor disclosed that the $24.7 million project was awarded on October 19, 2021, with construction starting on July 13, 2022, and an original completion target of July 2024. However, he noted that despite about $8 million spent, the project is only around 20 percent complete.

He added that consultations with the project board revealed front-end engineering processes as one of the reasons for the delay.

Mr. Nokoe, however, emphasized the urgency of timely completion for residents of Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira and called for immediate measures to prevent further setbacks.

As both the moderator of a high-level panel session and the Steering Committee Representative for West and Central Africa, Nokoe’s contribution to the international dialogue on youth, governance, and development was widely acclaimed.

Themed “Breaking the Cycle: The Role of Youth in Tackling Fragility, Conflict, and Violence (FCV),” the session brought together leading experts, parliamentarians, and global stakeholders to explore bold solutions for countries facing protracted instability.

Mr. Nokoe skilfully moderated a thought-provoking conversation featuring Shubham Chaudhuri, Director of the World Bank Group’s Fragility, Conflict and Violence Group, and Steven Hill, Executive Secretary of the International Institute for Justice and Rule of Law.

Speaking from the unique vantage point of a Ghanaian legislator and youth advocate, Nokoe drew on real-life experiences from Ghana’s Bawku conflict to spark dialogue on the power of youth in conflict transformation.

His contributions highlighted the potential of localised peacebuilding, youth-led initiatives, and cross-border solidarity in sustaining peace across fragile regions of the world.

As the official Steering Committee Representative for West and Central Africa, Nokoe championed the collective voice of young parliamentarians from the region.

He emphasised the need for inclusive governance frameworks, investment in youth development, and stronger representation of African perspectives in global policymaking.

“Our generation is not the future—we are the now. We must therefore harness our influence to shift from reactive to proactive engagement in conflict prevention and inclusive development,” he remarked during his closing comments.

The Global Young MP Initiative continues to grow as a vital platform for knowledge exchange, advocacy, and action among legislators under the age of 45, with Nokoe playing a key leadership role in shaping its direction and amplifying Africa’s voice on the global stage.

Back in the 9th Parliament of Ghana, he is the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Economy and Development, a member of the Energy Committee, a member of the Public Administration and State Interest Committee, and also one of the leaders of the Young Parliamentarians Forum.
