Audio: Tourism Ministry to seek law for tourist site management after Kintampo disaster https://www.adomonline.com/audio-tourism-ministry-seek-law-tourist-site-management-kintampo-disaster/ Tue, 21 Mar 2017 13:55:23 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=38241 Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Catherine Afeku says the Tourism Ministry is set to seek a Legislative Instrument (LI) from Parliament specifically for the management and revenue sharing at tourist sites.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Tuesday, Mrs Afeku said the non-existence of specific Tourism Legislation has led to the unnecessary takeovers by party Foot Soldiers such the Invisible Forces taking over the Kintampo Water Falls.

This development follows accusation by the Kyeremankomahene of Kintampo, Nana Effah Guakro blaming the cause of the recent disaster on the takeover of the Kintampo Falls by the Invisible Forces.

The students, from the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School and the University of Energy and Natural Resources, were bathing in the pond beneath the waterfall during a heavy rain storm on Sunday when a tree along the banks broke, crashing them to death.

Following the incident, the chief of the town disclosed that immediately after the 2016 general elections, the Kintampo sect of pro-NPP vigilante group, Invincible Forces, chased away operators of the facility and took over

But Mrs Afeku says the Legislative Instrument (LI) will bring an end to such mishaps.
