The duo generated a buzz on social media after their ‘Happy Day’ song dropped and the main key was endorsing the NPP ahead of the December 7 elections.

In an interview with Dr Pounds on Hitz FM’s Hitz Gallery show, Kuami Eugene said though he has no plans of endorsing political parties, Sarkodie owes him if he was paid for the job.

According to him, his verse on the song is his intellectual property, hence if it will serve any greater purpose that will yield money, then he has to be paid accordingly.

MORE:

“It’s my intellectual property so if they pay him, he owes me. If he gets an alert legally over the song we did as brothers, then he must send me something,” he said.

One thing Kuami Eugene wanted Ghanaians bashing Sarkodie to know was the fact that he is aware of the consequences of backing a political party.

Sarkodie is a senior man. People shouldn’t act like he doesn’t know what he is saying. This is Sarkodie… he knows the consequences and he has his motives.

I did the music out of love. But with what is happening. It won’t be bad that I get that GHC¢500,000 people are talking about but I didn’t take one Cedi.

Sarkodie is refusing to accept ‘Happy Day’ is a campaign song – Kuami Eugene [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/sarkodie-is-refusing-to-accept-happy-day-is-a-campaign-song-kuami-eugene-video/ Thu, 05 Nov 2020 11:30:36 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1876740 Singer Kuami Eugene says when his management reached out to Sarkodie concerning the latest brouhaha over their ‘Happy Day’ song, the latter refused to acknowledge that it endorsed the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking in an interview with Dr Pounds on Hitz FM’s Hitz Gallery show, the ‘Open Gate’ hitmaker said Sarkodie doesn’t see anything wrong with him asking the incumbent President to continue with his good works.

My management took a step and they reached out to Sarkcess Music. He didn’t admit what people are saying is true that he had made a campaign song. He says he is saying what’s on his mind… just that one way it will affect me, he told Dr Pounds.

If I want to endorse a party, it is not something I can play with. It took people years to build their career. If it will benefit me I’ll do it if not no. But I have never said I will not endorse a party because I will need a thorough conversation before it happens, he added.

Sarkodie released ‘Happy Day’ and trended massively on social media due to his lyrics that preached and urged Ghanaians to give the ruling President Akufo-Addo another four years to govern.

MORE:

The statement generated lots of buzz with many voicing out their opinions on the consequences of the endorsement gesture.

According to Kuami Eugene, Sarkodie sent him the first verse of the song where he had to work on his part and forward it back to him, hence he wasn’t in the loop about the incident that he described as unfortunate.

Meanwhile, Kuami Eugene also asked Ghanaians to forgo the thought that Sarkodie isn’t aware of the consequences of his actions prior to the December 7 polls.

There is the need for a consensus. The brand should be protected even if it will help me.

I said that we have few weeks to election and there is a lot that can happen. It can be a campaign song or not … that’s why I am not quick to accuse or attack. I did a feature and it happened like that so I am not going to make demands.

Sarkodie is a senior man. People shouldn’t act like he doesn’t know what he is saying. This is Sarkodie… he knows the consequences and he has his motives. I did the music out of love, Kuami Eugene said.

Don’t misinterpret the song – Sarkodie tells Akufo-Addo https://www.adomonline.com/dont-misinterpret-the-song-sarkodie-tells-akufo-addo/ Wed, 04 Nov 2020 16:49:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1876452 Although rapper Sarkodie has been lauded on social media by majority of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members for his latest Happy Day song, the ‘Adonai’ hitmaker says it’s not for the political party.

The award-winning rapper, in the song, said, “if I complained about ‘Dumsor’ and I also hit on inflation but today, if there is electricity and my kids will go to school free, then Nana ‘toaso’ (Nana continue).

The verse, which had since generated mixed reactions on social media, also had the presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, quoting Sarkodie’s tweet: Nice song @sarkodie and @KuamiEugene. Indeed, the battle is still the Lord’s, with the hashtag #4MoreForNana.

But the ‘Adonai’ hitmaker has responded to the allegations with a rather interesting reply.

MORE:

He quoted the President’s tweet with Nana M3nfa bronya ho nre akoko oo lool !! (to wit ‘Don’t misinterpret the song’) when I say aban ( all parties ) Shouts to yourself x JM but if I feel like pointing out the negatives too you know how we do.

Meanwhile, featured artiste, Kuame Eugene has denied prior knowledge of the controversial verse. He maintained he hopped on ‘Happy Day’ oblivious of the ‘endorsement’.

According to him, Sarkodie only sent the first verse of his rap, which apparently did not contain the lines.

“It makes me uncomfortable,” he said.

Sarkodie endorses ‘4 More 4 Nana Akufo-Addo’, Ghanaians react [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/sarkodie-endorses-4-more-4-nana-akufo-addo-ghanaians-react-video/ Tue, 03 Nov 2020 08:27:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1875956 Rapper Sarkodie has released a new song to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December 7 elections.

The musician was vibrant during the erstwhile Mahama administration where he voiced out on the economy through his songs.

However, in his latest Happy Day song, which is garnering numbers on YouTube and featuring the ‘Open Gate’ hitmaker Kuami Eugene, Sarkodie endorsed Nana Akufo-Addo over other political parties.

According to him, the Free Senior High School policy and “constant” electricity flow that has been implemented by the incumbent are enough for him to support the NPP.

MORE:

If I talked complained about ‘Dumsor’ and I also hit on inflation but today if there is electricity and my kids will go to school free, then Nana ‘toaso’ (Nana continue).

Watching the video, Sarkodie donned a blue shirt and white trousers matching the colours of the NPP.

The climax of the song had one of the famous slogans of the Elephant party – The Battle is still the Lords.

Kuami Eugene, meanwhile, killed the chorus of the song cementing the fact that he holds the key as he was adjudged Artiste of the Year at the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
