This alarming statistic highlights a pressing need for comprehensive regulatory measures to safeguard air travel in the country.

The intercepted arms include 198 rounds of ammunition and four weapons found at the international passenger screening checkpoint, along with a staggering 1,879 rounds and 16 weapons uncovered in Terminal 2.

These discoveries were catalogued in the latest report from the Auditor-General concerning public accounts, revealing a stark picture of rising security threats amid the lack of a national policy governing the transport of weapons at airports.

Despite the serious nature of these seizures, all passengers involved were permitted to board their flights, raising grave concerns among security experts.

The Auditor-General pointed out that this oversight occurred due to the absence of a robust national policy regulating weapon carriage by air travellers—a loophole that poses significant risks to passengers, crew members, and airport staff alike.

Experts warn that the unchecked transport of arms, even when declared, threatens the safety of aviation operations.

The Auditor-General’s report characterised the situation as a “potential security risk,” emphasising that the lack of clear regulatory measures increases the chances of unauthorised weapons being smuggled onto flights, thus endangering overall safety.

To address these critical compliance gaps, the Auditor-General has recommended that the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) formulate and enforce comprehensive policies detailing strict guidelines for screening and managing passengers carrying weapons.

The urgency of this recommendation is underscored by the rising statistics: Ghana has recorded a 40% increase in weapons seizures at airports over the past two years, signaling an urgent need for action.

In response to the audit findings, GACL acknowledged the escalating issue of weapon carriage through KIA. They raised concerns with the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (NCASC) as early as 2022, stressing the need for immediate policy intervention.

During a subsequent meeting, attended by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the root cause of the surge in weapon transport was identified as a lack of appropriate regulations and penalties.

Despite these discussions, more than a year later, no comprehensive policy has been enacted.

GACL escalated the situation in August 2023, urging GCAA to expedite the development of a Weapon Declaration Policy.

By November 2023, they had reached out to the Minister for National Security, seeking intervention regarding the movement of undeclared weapons.

While awaiting a formal regulatory framework, GACL has taken proactive internal measures to enhance security.

Aviation Security (AVSEC) screeners have undergone additional training to improve their weapon detection capabilities at airport checkpoints.

Officials report that these internal enhancements have significantly contributed to the high detection numbers this year, although they caution that without an enforceable national policy with punitive measures, the issue is unlikely to be fully resolved.

Stakeholders from the aviation and security sectors are united in their call for decisive action.

The Auditor-General’s report emphasises the necessity for a nationally enforceable framework that clearly outlines the conditions under which weapons may be transported by passengers, including declaration procedures and strict penalties for violations.

Until such a policy is implemented, Kotoka International Airport—serving as a vital hub for diplomatic, commercial, and business travel—remains at risk due to the unregulated movement of arms.

The stakes are high, and the need for immediate and effective resolutions has never been more critical for the safety of Ghana’s airspace and its passengers.

Authorities said the shooter didn’t take too kindly to the joke.

“I was playing a prank and a simple practical joke, and this guy didn’t take it very well,” he explained to WUSA9 from his hospital bed.

His friend was recording the altercation when Colie pulled out his gun and now the footage is a part of evidence for the case. Cook said Colie didn’t say anything to him before pulling out the gun.

Cook’s father, Jeremy Cook, expressed a similar sentiment and claimed Colie “wasn’t having fun” while his son was filming with other mall goers.

“They were making a video at the mall and trying to have fun with people and this guy wasn’t having fun. There was a phone that was around him, and they were interviewing or talking to him,” he explained.

Kennedy Agyapong got me holding a gun to my head until Duncan-Williams… – Nigel Gaisie [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/kennedy-agyapong-got-me-holding-a-gun-to-my-head-until-duncan-williams-nigel-gaisie-video/ Sun, 05 Mar 2023 08:12:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2224543 Founder and Leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, Nigel Gaisie, says he was a few minutes away from committing suicide when a call from Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams saved his life.

Speaking on Adom FM’s weekend show, Entertainment Hall, the man of God said the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, sent him to the lowest point of his life.

“Archbishop Duncan-Williams called me. I had decided the suicide by then what time I wanted to leave the earth. What Ken did was a bad thing. He [Duncan Williams] told me I have reached the lowest point, but it’s a step to a higher level and that encouraged me.”

When the host Mike 2 asked if he will support the New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful, Mr Agyapong, to win ahead New Patriotic Party Primaries since they have settled their differences, the prophet said he cannot be bias.

“In my life he is the one who has caused me the greatest pain. My mother nearly suffered a stroke. The fact that we have settled issues doesn’t mean I have forgotten.

“I am a historian, so I have learnt the lessons of history and I have nothing against him. He was able to say things that got my church members running out. About 2,000 members, the numbers reduced drastically in the name that you lied against me.”

In the wake and heat of Ebony Reigns’ demise, the Prophetic Hill Ministry leader maintained he saw the death and further blamed her manager, Ricky Nana Agyemang popularly known as Bullet.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong, on his Net2 TV station, alleged that Ebony Reigns threatened to shame Prophet Nigel Gaisie in public for raping her but since Nigel wanted it secluded, he allegedly planned her death.

Reacting to this, Nigel Gaisie said: “He didn’t even know me personally. I have forgiven, but I will be bias to speak well of him.”

After taking GH¢100 bribe, policeman forgets gun in ‘trotro’ https://www.adomonline.com/after-taking-gh%c2%a2100-bribe-policeman-forgets-gun-in-trotro/ Sun, 29 Jan 2023 13:45:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2210162 A police officer has left his gun in the front seat of a trotro vehicle after allegedly taking GH¢100 bribe from the driver.

According to the driver, who prefers to remain anonymous, about five police officers stopped his vehicle and claimed he was under arrest for loading at an unauthorized area.

“I loaded passengers from Coast Coast to Takoradi. When I got to Takoradi around 8:30pm on Friday, a police vehicle with about five officers stopped me. They alighted all my passengers and told me I was under arrest and that I will be taken to the office to be processed before court which I agreed,” he narrated on Connect FM‘s Omanbapa morning show team.

He adds that the police officers stopped along the way and demanded he pays an amount of GH¢150 before he would be set free.

“On our way to the Police station, they stopped and told me that if they should take me to the Police station, I will pay GH¢500 and my vehicle will be locked until Monday. They then told me to pay GH¢150 and I pleaded with them to have mercy upon me. They told me I was not serious and that the only way they would allow me to go is GH¢100 for a last price. So I paid the GH¢100 and they left me to go and continue my work,” he noted.

According to the driver, he later realised one of the police officers who entered his vehicle had left his gun in the front seat.

“I could not work again because they had taken all my money for the day. I went home and realised the police officer had left his gun in the vehicle. I have not been able to work for sometime because of the gun lying in my vehicle,” he added.

The gun has a number boldly written at one side.

The other side has inscription (CZ805 BREN – made in Czech Republic).

Rihanna’s partner A$AP Rocky charged over shooting in Hollywood https://www.adomonline.com/rihannas-partner-aap-rocky-charged-over-shooting-in-hollywood/ Tue, 16 Aug 2022 16:04:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2150444 Rapper A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault with a firearm in connection with a shooting in Hollywood last year.

The star, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is alleged to have pointed the gun at a former friend during an argument in November.

Prosecutors say he later fired the weapon twice in the direction of the victim, who sustained a minor injury.

The 33-year-old, who has had two US number one albums, could face up to nine years in prison if found guilty.

The rapper, who had a baby with singer Rihanna in May, is due to appear in court on Wednesday to answer two charges of assault with a semi-automatic firearm with allegations of personally using a firearm.

His lawyer had no immediate comment on the charges.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said: “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offence that could have ended with tragic consequences, not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood.

“My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”

News of the shooting broke in April when the star was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport as he returned from a holiday with Rihanna. He was released three hours later after posting bail of $550,000 (£421,000).

Police found multiple firearms at Mr Mayers’ home while serving a search warrant following his arrest.

Terell Ephron, who is part of the A$AP Mob hip-hop collective, identified himself as the victim and sued his former friend last week, alleging assault and battery, negligence and emotional distress.

Mr Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli, alleged that Mr Mayers had “lured” him to an obscure location in Hollywood to discuss a disagreement.

The lawsuit claims that, after a verbal altercation, Mr Mayers “pulled out a handgun and purposefully pointed it in the direction of [Mr Ephron] and fired multiple shots”.

Mr Ephron was “struck by bullet projectile/fragments” in his left hand and required medical attention, according to the court papers. He is seeking at least $25,000 (£20,750) in damages.

Mr Mayers was previously given a two-year suspended sentence for his role in a brawl in Stockholm in August 2019.

As A$AP Rocky, he was one of the biggest breakout stars of the 2010s, earning eight platinum singles in the US including Wild For The Night, Everyday, LSD and A$AP Forever.

He rose to fame after being championed by Drake, and has worked with artists including Alicia Keys, Lana Del Rey, Skepta, Selena Gomez and Kendrick Lamar.

Last year, he confirmed he was in a relationship with Rihanna, calling her the “love of my life” and “the one”.

Okudzeto chides Akamba for wielding gun during Arise Ghana demo https://www.adomonline.com/okudzeto-chides-akamba-for-wielding-gun-during-arise-ghana-demo/ Fri, 01 Jul 2022 09:08:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2132612 The Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said he does not endorse the NDC’s National Organiser, Joshua Akamba, for wielding a weapon during the Arise Ghana demonstration.

During day 2 of the highly-patronized protest, the NDC National Organiser was spotted wielding a gun which was later seized by the police.

Reacting to this on Burning Issues, Mr Ablakwa said the demonstrations were organised to express feelings and for that matter, it was inappropriate for Mr Akamba to carry a weapon along.

It is his opinion that the National Organiser was protecting himself but feared the weapon could have accidentally fallen into the wrong hands which may cause chaos.

“If it’s really true that the National Organiser went to the demonstration with a gun, then I don’t endorse it, it’s something I will not endorse. I mean it can fall into the wrong hands and may cause a problem”.

“That is why when the Fix The Country wanted to organise an armed demonstration, I was one of those who condemned it,” he added.

Samuel Okukdzeto Ablakwa further suggested that the police be given autonomy to be able to work effectively. He feels the president and his Vice have been given too much power by the Constitution including chairing the Police Council.

“I think the constitution should be reviewed its high time the Ghana Police Service it’s given the autonomy to work effectively. The president has been given too much privilege to even appoint the IGP and the vice president chairing the police council.”

Gun control bill clears US Senate hurdle https://www.adomonline.com/gun-control-bill-clears-us-senate-hurdle/ Wed, 22 Jun 2022 13:35:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2129506 The US Senate has taken a first step towards passing what has been called the most significant new gun controls in a generation.

Senators voted to speed up the passage of the bipartisan bill, meaning it could be signed into law next week.

Although significant, the proposals fall far short of what many Democrats and activists have called for in the wake of a spate of mass shootings.

The measures include tougher background checks for buyers younger than 21.

The bill calls for funding to encourage states to implement “red flag” laws to remove firearms from people considered a threat. The act also includes $15bn (£12.2bn) in federal funding for mental health programs and school security upgrades.

And it closes the so-called “boyfriend loophole” by blocking gun sales to those convicted of abusing unmarried intimate partners.

It is the first time in decades that proposed gun safety legislation has received this level of support from both Republican and Democratic party senators.

Tuesday evening’s Senate vote – which was only procedural – passed 64 to 34 in less than two hours after the final text was circulated.

Some 14 Republicans voted to advance the bill, suggesting the legislation would get enough support to clear the Senate in a full vote – which Democrats hope to hold within days.

It will then need to be passed by the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives before making its way to President Joe Biden’s desk.

READ ALSO:

Senator Chris Murphy, the lead Democrat in the talks, said on the Senate floor that the bill “will become the most significant piece of anti-gun-violence legislation Congress will have passed in 30 years”.

Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement: “This bipartisan gun-safety legislation is progress and will save lives. While it is not everything we want, this legislation is urgently-needed.”

His Republican counterpart, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, described the legislation as “a common sense package” in a statement pledging his own support.

The National Rife Association (NRA) opposed the bill, saying in a statement that it “does little to truly address violent crime” and “can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases”.

President Biden earlier this month said the proposals were “steps in the right direction” but are still not enough.

He has pushed for bigger reforms – including a ban on assault rifles, which were used in the Texas and Buffalo mass shootings – or at least an increase in the age at which they can be purchased.

The last significant federal gun control legislation was passed in 1994, banning the manufacture for civilian use of assault rifles and large capacity ammunition clips, but expired a decade later.

The US has the highest rate of firearms deaths among the world’s wealthy nations. But it is also a country where many cherish gun rights that are protected by the Constitution’s Second Amendment to “keep and bear arms”.

Previous efforts lead by Democrats to strengthen US gun control laws have been hindered by Republicans.

Nearly a decade ago, attempts to tighten US gun control laws after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut – in which 20 children and six adults were killed – failed to get enough votes in Congress.

The Senate, or upper chamber of Congress, is currently split – with 50 Democrats and 50 Republicans – and legislation must have 60 votes to overcome a manoeuvre known as the filibuster – tactical delaying.

Ten of the 20 senators who came up with the framework for the new measures are Republicans, meaning the proposals had the numbers needed to progress.

Top Gun maker sued over copyright breach https://www.adomonline.com/top-gun-maker-sued-over-copyright-breach/ Tue, 07 Jun 2022 14:12:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2123095 The family of the Israeli writer whose article inspired the 1986 Tom Cruise movie Top Gun is suing film studio Paramount Pictures for copyright infringement over its sequel.

They claim the studio did not have the rights to Ehud Yonay’s 1983 story “Top Guns” when it released the sequel Top Gun: Maverick last month.

The film earned $548m (£438m) globally in its first 10 days of release.

Paramount says the claim was “without merit” and vowed to contest it.

Top Gun: Maverick sees Cruise reprise his role as US navy pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell from the original 1986 film.

It had the fourth biggest opening weekend of any film in the Covid-era, behind the best-selling Spider-Man: No Way Home, second-place Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and then The Batman.

The lawsuit – filed on Monday at the Los Angeles federal court by Shosh and Yuval Yonay, Ehud’s widow and son – alleges that Paramount failed to reacquire the rights to Ehud’s magazine article after it was terminated under the US Copyright Act.

They are seeking unspecified damages from the film studio, including profits from Top Gun: Maverick.

According to the lawsuit, Paramount’s Top Gun franchise would not have existed without Ehud’s “literary efforts and evocative prose and narrative”.

The lawsuit said that in 2018, the Yonays informed Paramount that its rights to Ehud’s article would be terminated two years later.

It added that the studio lost the copyright for the piece in January 2020.

“Much as Paramount wants to pretend otherwise, they made a sequel to Top Gun after they lost their copyright,” lawyer Marc Toberoff, who is representing the Yonays, told the BBC.

Paramount said in a statement: “These claims are without merit, and we will defend ourselves vigorously.”

Mitra Ahouraian, a Los Angeles-based entertainment attorney, told the BBC that Paramount’s plans to produce Top Gun: Maverick in 2018 and release it in 2019 were delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Timing is going to be very important in this case because the notice of termination was sent… to have an effective date of 2020,” Ms Ahouraian explained.

The sequel sees Maverick return to the Top Gun flying academy as an instructor in charge of training a new generation of pilots.

It gave Hollywood superstar Cruise his first $100m (£80m) opening weekend at the box office. His previous biggest opening weekend came in 2005 with War of the Worlds, which raked in $64m (£51m).

A$AP Rocky’s guns not used in shooting which was caught on video – Sources https://www.adomonline.com/aap-rockys-guns-not-used-in-shooting-which-was-caught-on-video-sources/ Fri, 29 Apr 2022 14:38:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2110172 A$AP Rocky got good news and bad news.

LAPD sources tell TMZ, the guns they found at the rapper’s home did not match the gun used in the shooting … now for the bad news.

Our LAPD sources say they have video of the shooting in their possession … presumably from a surveillance camera. A$AP was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon … cops believe he shot a man in Hollywood last November during an argument, grazing his hand.

If the video is clear enough, it could be bad news for A$AP. The video could be even more powerful evidence than the gun itself.

Speaking of the guns … we’ve now learned cops did indeed find multiple weapons when they executed a search warrant on his house last week, but they determined on the spot they were not the weapon they were looking for.

In fact, we’re told cops found shell casings at the crime scene, so they knew the type of caliber, and none of the guns at A$AP’s home were a match.

We’re told cops ran the serial number on the guns and they were all legally acquired. Turns out our Rocky sources were correct … police didn’t take the guns to the station – they left them at Rocky’s house.

The D.A. has not decided whether to charge Rocky.

According to him, he has taken a lesson from the experience because he was ignorant about the law with regards to showing off guns on the digital platform.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on the Daybreak Hitz show, he said: I didn’t know it was an offence or a crime. I thought brandishing was when you are in the public but not when you are in a car and you post on Snapchat. But now I have learnt from it.

He urged Ghanaians, especially his colleague celebrities to avoid certain lifestyles that will eventually cause problems for them in the future.

I would urge people to be careful about what they post on social media. I have learnt that with any action I take anything can happen. Right now I don’t know what might land me in trouble. I never knew it would happen [SIC], he added.

Meanwhile, after he spent days in prison and was released, Medikal unfollowed many people on social media.

Jesus Ahuofe speaks on gun found in his room during police search https://www.adomonline.com/jesus-ahuofe-speaks-on-gun-found-in-his-room-during-police-search/ Tue, 26 Oct 2021 16:08:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2034285 Self-styled prophet of the Founder and Leader of New Life Kingdom Chapel International, Stephen Akwasi, aka Jesus Ahuofe, has spoken up on a gun found during a search in his home.

A police house search became necessary after he was arrested and detained for a prophecy that found five persons including himself in police cells.

Jesus Ahuofe missed a doom prophecy on Dancehall King Shatta Wale, detailing how he would be shot and killed by assassins on October 18, a day after his 37th birthday.

Shatta and three members of his camp capitalised on the prophecy to start his shooting prank which according to his charges caused fear and panic.

After Jesus Ahuofe was arrested, the police organised a search in his home, which led to the discovery of a hand gun.

Speaking for the first time after his bail on Adom FM‘s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Jesus Ahuofe confirmed he owned the gun which he said is licensed for protection purposes.

He indicated that he had registered the gun long ago and it was always kept in his safe.

According to him, he met his home in a ransacked state when he returned after a bail, and to him, it is an indication Ghana Police Service worked hard on his case.

He commended the service for their dedication in ensuring security in the country.

Funny Face has since been releasing videos and voice notes of his baby mama on social media alleging that she is disrespectful and doing all she can to take the children away from him.

According to him, though he has been playing his part as a father to take care of the family, his baby mama is making life stressful for him to keep up.

But reacting to these allegations, Vanesa said she had endured enough.

She recounted the number of times Funny Face allegedly fought with her physically, adding that, “at a point, I had to cut him with one of his awards to defend myself.”

Additionally, Vanessa claimed Funny Face allegedly pulled a gun and threatened to kill her if she made any attempt to render an apology after they had a heated argument.

He called one of the boys we lived with to inform me that he was arrested for smashing someone’s car. That night he didn’t come home and any attempt to know which police station he was proved futile.

We later had the hunch that he was lying but It didn’t matter… Funny Face didn’t sleep home most times and he could boldly tell you that he is going to visit one of his girlfriends.

When he came home the following day, I wanted to go and apologise for an earlier banter we had, but he took his gun out and went outside and gave three warning shots that I shouldn’t attempt.

He later went ahead to shoot his own dog claiming I was giving the animal attention than our children.

Vanessa, mother of FunY Face’s Twin Daughters

Vanessa, in a long interview with Ghpage.com, revealed many things that went on in their relationship that were on the blind side of the public.

According to her, Funny Face tries to seek sympathy from the public by projecting her as the one causing him woes which is rather not so.

His comment comes after some images and audio recording went viral on social media citing him as a member of the 1979 military firing squad that executed former Head of State General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong during the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) regime under the leadership of Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.
Speaking in an interview with Akwasi Boateng on ” Maakye” educative show on Hot93.9fm, Captain Dennis Mahama (Rtd) denied the allegation by revealing that, during his days as a military officer, he never pointed a gun at any human to talk of shooting or even killing; hence describing the allegations as a malicious intent to tarnish his image.

We want big guns to fight al-Shabab not AK-47 – Somalia https://www.adomonline.com/want-big-guns-fight-al-shabab-not-ak-47-somalia/ Fri, 12 May 2017 10:59:36 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=116151 Somalia’s president has called on the international community to lift an arms embargo on his country as government soldiers battle to regain territory from the armed group al-Shabab.

Speaking on Thursday at a Somalia conference held in London and attended by world leaders, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, known as Farmajo, said government forces would defeat the al-Qaeda-linked group in “a few years” – but troops had to be better equipped.

“For far too long, our security forces and terrorist groups have been fighting using the same type of light weapons – mostly AK-47s. The long-standing arms embargo on Somalia severely restricts our ability to procure heavy weapons,” Farmajo said.

“Time has come for Somalia to be able to get access to qualitatively better equipment and weapons than the terrorists,” he added.

Farmajo co-chaired the conference on Somalia in UK’s capital, London [Jack Hill/Reuters]

The UN Security Council placed the country under an arms embargo in 1992, months after the outbreak of civil which led to the toppling of long-time President Siad Barre.

The embargo, the longest imposed in the world, was eased in 2013 – allowing Mogadishu to buy light arms – but was not lifted.

Amnesty and Human rights groups have previously called on the United Nations to not lift the embargo, warning that it could “expose Somali civilians to even greater risk and worsen the humanitarian situation”.

Farmajo, who took office in February, declared war on al-Shabab last month following a string of deadly attacks carried out by the group in the Somali capital.

Somali troops backed by more than 20,000 African Union soldiers have captured most major towns and cities in the country from the group.

But al-Shabab, which wants to overthrow the country’s internationally back government, still carries out targeted assassinations and frequent suicide attacks in southern Somalia and Mogadishu.

The one-day conference – co-chaired by Farmajo, UK Prime Minister Theresa May and the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres – also addressed the humanitarian situation in the Horn of Africa country, which has been exacerbated by a prolonged drought.

In late February, Farmajo declared a national disaster for the drought that has forced 6.2 million Somalis – about half of the country’s population – to seek urgent food assistance and triggered fears of a potential famine, according to the UN.

Speaking at the conference, Guterres renewed calls for extra funds to help tackle the drought’s effects on Somalia’s population.

“This morning we presented the revised humanitarian plan seeking an additional $900m to the end of the year,” the UN chief said.

Somalia is also seeking relief of its $5.3bn long-standing debts.

‘Heavily drunk’ Tonto Dikeh pulled gun on ex-husband’s guard at Trasacco https://www.adomonline.com/heavily-drunk-tonto-dikeh-pulled-gun-ex-husbands-guard-trasacco/ Mon, 13 Mar 2017 14:06:11 +0000 http://ghana-news.adomonline.com/new/?p=24691 It has emerged that Nollywood actress, Tonto Wigo Charity Dikeh was arrested on June 9, 2015 after she allegedly aimed a gun at his ex-husband’s security guard in his luxurious Trasacco Valley residence in Accra.

Tonto Dikeh, 32, is alleged to have threatened to gun down the guard who tried to restrain her from recklessly damaging properties belonging to her estranged husband, Olakunle Churchill on suspicion that he was cheating on him.

The actress claimed in a video posted on her Instagram page that Churchill, who was her fiancée at the time had physically attacked her while they were on holidays in Accra.

Tonto also claimed in the video, which analysts say, was “deceptively edited” that she had to flee from the house naked to seek refuge at the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana.

Speaking on the incident, Supt. Joseph Oppong, Crime Officer at the Madina Divisional Police command, flatly denied Tonto’s claims stressing her claims were fictitious and unfounded.

Supt. Oppong disclosed that the Madina police patrol team received a call from Churchill’s cellphone around 3.am on that fateful day, complaining that his raging fiancé was destroying properties in his home.

“And truly, when my men got to the house after the call came through, the whole house was in a mess”.

“She was struggling with the security guard and some neighbors who had gone there to prevent her from causing further damage to the properties in the house”.

It was during the security guard’s tussle with Tonto, who had pointed a pump action gun belonging to Churchill at the guard that drew the attention of neighbors to the house at that ungodly hour.

The pump action rifle had been licensed, the police confirmed.

“I can’t really say she was drunk because I am not in a position to say that, but I can confirm she was in a serious mess herself. In fact, the whole house was in utter chaos when my men got there,” Supt. Oppong stressed.

He said the actress was arrested and put behind cells before the incident was officially reported to the Nigerian High Commissioner, who recommended an amicable settlement of the matter.

The police say Tonto was charged for illegal damage of properties, but dropped the case after Churchill wrote to notify them of his intentions to withdraw his complaint three days after the incident.

“He told us he wouldn’t allow his fiancée to go to jail just because she had destroyed his properties,” the police added.
