In a Facebook post on December 24, Mahama shared insights from his recent engagements with the Presidents of Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, and Gabon.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with Ghana’s neighbors and partners in West Africa and across the African continent.

“I just wrapped up an incredible visit with the Presidents of Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, and Gabon as part of my commitment to fostering strong relationships with our geographical neighbors and friends in West Africa and on the continent,” Mahama noted.

He highlighted that the discussions with his counterparts revolved around shared values and aspirations for progress, focusing on opportunities for collaboration in trade, security, and sustainable development.

He stressed that these partnerships aim to bring tangible benefits to the citizens of the respective nations.

“I will continue to work both within and outside our subregion towards a brighter, more prosperous future for our youth and the vulnerable,” Mahama assured.

Morocco and Guinea Bissau will be the first to arrive for the tournament.

The two teams are scheduled to arrive on Sunday, 7 January 2024, marking a huge milestone for the opening match.

Quarter-finalists at the last edition in Cameroon, the Atlas Lions are in Group F with two-time champions DR Congo, 2012 winners, Zambia and the Taifa Stars of Tanzania.

The 1976 champions will be making their 19th appearance in the history of the championship.

Guinea Bissau will face host Cote d’Ivoire in the tournament opener on 13 January 2024 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe.

Three-time winners Nigeria and Guinea Bissau complete the pack in Group A.

Meanwhile, Tanzania are scheduled to arrive on Monday, 8 January 2024 at midday from Dar es Salaam. 

On Tuesday, 9  January 2024 holders Senegal, who will be hoping for a successful defence of the title won in Cameroon two years ago, will arrive in Abidjan.

Also due for Tuesday is record seven-time winners Egypt and Mozambique.

The Princesses went into this game with a three-goal advantage from the 1st leg.

The first half of the game ended goalless with the Princesses having a lions share of possession and creating numerous goal-scoring chances.

Success Ameyaa and Mercy Attobra came close in the 9th and 15th minutes but couldn’t make it count.

Ghana scored three goals in the second half courtesy of Tracy Twum, Wasiima Mohammed and Helen Alormemu.

The pressure from the Princesses yielded results when Tracy Twum found the back of the net in the 49th minute.

Wasiima Mohammed connected a header from success Ameyaa’s corner in the 59th minute to double the lead.

A beautiful play in midfield between Tracy Twum and Helen Alormenu ended at the back of the net when the latter chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to make it 3:0 for the Black Princesses.

The 3-0 win gives Ghana a 6-0 aggregate score after winning the 1st leg 3-0 in Bissau last weekend.

The Black Princesses will face Eswatini in the third round qualifiers in search of a ticket to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Three goals courtesy of Success Ameyaa, Mary Amponsah and Mercy Attobra handed the Princesses the 1st leg advantage.

The Black Princesses were the better side in the early minutes of the game but couldn’t utilise their chances.

A pass from Helen Alormemu found Mary Amponsah but she was flagged offside in the 11th minute.

Success Ameyaa made her effort count in the 45th minute when she scored from a free kick to hand Ghana the lead before going into the break.

After recess, Mary Amponsah was fouled in the penalty box but Comfort Yeboah missed from the spot kick.

Mary Amponsah doubled the lead in the 67th minute courtesy of a great team effort before substitute, Mercy Attobra who replaced Fatimata Fuseini proved to be a “super sub” as she scored in the 77th minute to take the game beyond Guinea Bissau.

The Black Princesses held on to win the contest 3:0.

The return fixture is scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 14, 2023.

Despite not being in the December ballot, Cipriano Cassamá, was appointed by Parliament, the majority of whose deputies have refused to acknowledge the election victory of the former opposition leader, Umaro Sissoco Embalol.

Ghana’s campaign at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is set to continue with a possible win over Guinea-Bissau in their final group match.

The Black Stars are tipped to win Tuesday’s match.

The latest to add his voice to the call is the Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word and Power Ministry International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah.

He is calling on Ghanaians to pray for the Black Stars because he is certain that the team will end their continental trophy drought by winning this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

“Each and every Ghanaian must pray for our Black Stars because we are winning this afternoon’s game and subsequently end our trophy drought and so I am hopeful that Ghana will win against Guinea-Bissau and bring the cup home,” he predicted on Accra based Neat FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

Asked if it was a revelation, the outspoken man of God said “this prediction is my opinion and I believe in it but it is not a revelation or a prophecy but I want Ghanaians to believe and it would happen,” he stated.
