The Phobians inflicted a 1-0 defeat to struggling Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyae Park in Techiman on Friday afternoon.

In form forward, Kojo Obeng Jnr scored the only goal of the game when he took advantage of a defensive mix up to finish neatly past the Wonders goalkeeper.

The win has taken the club top of the Ghana Premier League table for the first time this season.

The home side came in very strongly in the second half and had a penalty shout turned down when a goalbound shot struck the arm of Hearts defender Robert Addo Sowah but the referee turned down the penalty appeals from Eleven Wonders.

Coach Ignatius Osei Fosu turned to veteran striker Alex Asamoah although he caused problems for the Hearts of Oak defence but failed to score as Hearts of Oak stood strong and won all three points to go top.

The win sends Hearts of Oak one point above second-placed Asante Kotoko, who take on WAFA at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Saturday.

Free SHS: I’ve silenced my critics – Akufo-Addo https://www.adomonline.com/free-shs-ive-silenced-my-critics-akufo-addo/ Sat, 27 Jul 2019 14:02:38 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1688621 President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said the successful implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) program and the prudent measures put in place to address its associated challenges has left critics with nothing to talk about.

“There were many who doubted that we can actually roll out the free SHS we promised Ghanaians. Many people especially those from the opposition said it was just a promise to win votes, but I also told them it was not for votes but my resolve to build a strong human resource base for the country.”

“Having successfully implemented the free SHS, they have nothing to talk about, I was expecting them to come out to commend me but they are quiet. The truth has been separated from the lies,” he added.

Addressing the people of Cape Coast on Thursday as part of his three-day tour to the Central Region, the President indicated that starting September this year, every Ghanaian child from KG to SHS would enjoy free education.

The intervention, according to him, would propel Ghana onto the path of progress and development.

Additionally, he said, the One District One Factory concept would also bring economic empowerment to the people of Ghana, stressing that it was only through industrialization that the country could achieve the desired development.

He said his government remained committed to creating jobs for the teeming unemployed in the country.

President Akufo Addo catalogued a number of road projects that would be undertaken in the Cape Coast Metropolis under the first phase of the synodro project which included Ayifua, Apewosika, Ankaful, Kwaprow, Ebubonko and Bessakrom roads.

He appealed to the people of Cape Coast to prepare adequately to receive the many Africans from the Diaspora who would be visiting for the year of return event, for them to always want to come back.

He noted that Cape Coast as an ancient town had great tourism potentials and expressed the readiness of the Government to invest in the development of the town to become a tourism capital, not only in Ghana but the whole of West Africa.

Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, revealed that efforts were being made to modernize the Ancient City of Cape Coast and implored Government for support in that direction.

He complained about the poor roads within the Cape Coast Metropolis and appealed to the Government to fix them.

The Omanhen commended the President for the flagship programs including the free SHS, which had come as a great relief to many Ghanaian parents.

Osabairma Kwesi Atta called on the people of Cape Coast and the whole of Central Region to get involved in the celebration of PANAFEST, Emancipation Day and the year of return.

Hot Audio: 'NDC printing Nana Addo T- shirts for vigilante activities' https://www.adomonline.com/hot-audio-ndc-printing-nana-addo-t-shirts-vigilante-activities/ https://www.adomonline.com/hot-audio-ndc-printing-nana-addo-t-shirts-vigilante-activities/#comments Mon, 06 Nov 2017 13:41:11 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=637761 The First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Bodinga is alleging that some elements of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are printing President Akufo-Addo and NPP’s T-shirt for vigilante activities.
According to him, NPP executives in the Eastern Region had intelligence that NDC executives are printing fifty thousand (50,000) NPP T-shirts to cause mayhem in the coming days.
“We had an intelligence that some NDC members are printing 50,000 NPP T-shirt for vigilante activities” he said on Accra based Neat FM.
He accused members of the NDC of being behind vigilante activities ongoing in the country after the 2016 general election to make President Akufo-Addo and NPP unpopular.
“President Nana Addo is deeply worried about the activities of the vigilante groups but NDC want to make Nana Addo unpopular. We know the NDC executives are behind vigilante activities in this country after the December 2016 general elections” he stressed.
About 20 attacks under the aegis of vigilante groups allied to the NPP party have taken place in Ghana after the December 2016 general polls.
But Alhaji Umar Bodinga warned the NDC members to refrain from their actions else they will meet them boot for boot.
He said the matter is yet to be reported to the police.
However, the NDC’s Eastern regional chairman, Bismarck Tawiah Boateng denied the allegations insisting the NDC is not responsible for vigilante activities in the region.
“How can we print 50, 000 t-shirts to cause mayhem. The NDC is not behind any vigilante groups. They only want to divert attention from the ailing economy. We won’t take the NPP serious because we are only interested in moving our party forward and not divide it” he noted.
