‘Ghanaian songs must dominate the airwaves’ – Stonebwoy https://www.adomonline.com/ghanaian-songs-must-dominate-airwaves-stonebwoy/ Fri, 15 Dec 2017 16:15:38 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=762861 Ghana’s award winning Afro-dancehall Singer, Livingstone Etse Satekla popularly known as Stonebwoy, has added his voice to the on-going rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria.
Earlier, some crop of top musicians across the country expressed their disappointment in most Ghanaian DJs for patronizing Nigerian songs that supporting their own.
It was alleged that Nigerians have a legislative instrument (LI) that prevents their DJ’s from playing more than 10 per cent of foreign songs in their country; a move which has eventually increased their share numbers to put their industry players on the map.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the ‘Hero’ hitmaker disclosed that, he believes Ghanaian industry players especially musicians must emulate the Nigerians in terms of writing and producing songs.
Stonebwoy stressed that ‘we have to copy the Nigerians. They support each other and play 90-10. I think we should just copy them.’
He continued that, the deliberate move ‘is not about competition but it’s about inspiring Ghanaian musicians to break through the music industry.’
According to Stonebwoy, he believes artistes in Ghana are talented and skilled to produce better songs for the international market.
He said, ‘Afrobeats couldn’t get to where it is now without us. Rooting is back to legends like Osibisa, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley among others…’ he maintained.
Stonebwoy has released his third studio album titled “Epitles of Mama” EOM on Tuesday December 12, 2017.
His “BHIM Concert EOM release edition” is set to take place on the 22nd of December at the Accra International Conference Centre.
