The team was led by Kofi Bonsu, the man changing the narrative of many immigrants and the convener of the first-ever demonstration in Udine.

Mr Bonsu in December 2023 led a mammoth demonstration and criticised authorities for failing to improve their livelihoods.

The meeting with Mr Alfredo was therefore to discuss the possibilities of addressing and solving issues immigrants are faced with such as inhumane treatment, long waiting periods for renewal of permits, long queues outside the police office in extreme weather conditions among others.

They also discussed the possible way to extend the hospital card(tesserae sanitaria) during the waiting period while a resident’s document is under renewal.

The commissioner assured that steps are underway to alleviate the plights of immigrants in Udine.

Mr Alfredo noted that it’s not a deliberate intention of the officers in charge of document renewal to punish immigrants.

He assured to get in touch with all relevant authorities to seek reddress.

Kofi Bonsu and his team thanked the commissioner for his warm reception, assurance and availability to collaborate with them to secure favourable conditions.

He also expressed appreciation to the Ghanaian community for their mass participation in the stop the inhumane treatment demo which he believe is yielding results.

“We are edging them to always come out in their numbers whenever we call on them.
We want to assure people that there is a green light and, in due course, things will change for immigrants as we all expect,” he appealed.

Massive reaction as Ghanaians in UK hold funeral for Queen Elizabeth II [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/massive-reaction-as-ghanaians-in-uk-hold-funeral-for-queen-elizabeth-ii-video/ Tue, 20 Sep 2022 12:21:01 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2164329 Some Ghanaians in the United Kingdom have decided to organise their own funeral for the late Queen Elizabeth II.

While the late monarch was being laid to rest at Windsor Castle, the Ghanaians at Tottenham were also prepping up for her funeral.

A video shared by one of the organisers of the funeral has since gone viral.

According to her, her Ghanaian friends and colleagues have decided to mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth separately.

She indicated that the venue of the burial was Conel, Victoria Line, a community in London, the capital town of England.

She invited all Ghanaians in the UK to join them to celebrate the late queen.

“We are inviting all Ghanaians to Conel as we celebrate our queen mother, Elizabeth and also mourn with the family and wish them all the best,” she said.

Watching the video, you would realise that they had set up a place with funeral paraphernalia, drums, and sound systems. They were clad in red and black to symbolise what their meeting meant.
