Emunah was unveiled as the Ghana Premier League side’s Managing Director this week, taking over from Dr. Delali Anku-Adiamah, whose contract was not renewed following its expiration last month.

During a visit to the squad at the Kpobiman Training Centre on Thursday, Emunah spoke candidly with the players.

“My words are very few. What I want to tell you is that I am one of you. I had a dream to be a footballer. I have played before, but unfortunately, I had to stop early,” he said.

“I have been privileged, and that is what I always say, because my whole professional career has been in football. I understand what it takes to do football, and I understand what it takes to be a good footballer. But as we know, this club and its history—if you serve this club wholeheartedly, heaven will favour you as well,” Emunah added.

The Phobians are currently preparing for their highly anticipated Matchday 22 clash against bitter rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium next Sunday.

Before his appointment at Hearts, Emunah spent eight years with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in various capacities. In 2020, he became the GFA’s Club Licensing Manager, having previously served as a Safety and Security Officer for both CAF and the GFA.

Prior to his tenure at the GFA, Emunah worked as a broadcast journalist and held administrative roles in regional sports governance, including as Deputy Administrative Manager at the National Sports Authority in the Central Region and later as General Secretary of the Western Regional Football Association.

Since 2020, he has also played significant roles for CAF across inter-club competitions, AFCON qualifiers, the African Nations Championship (CHAN), and the African Games.

Karim Zito calls for patience amid Asante Kotoko’s challenges https://www.adomonline.com/karim-zito-calls-for-patience-amid-asante-kotokos-challenges/ Thu, 05 Feb 2026 10:19:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2627897 Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has urged the club’s supporters to remain patient as he works to address the challenges facing the team.

The veteran coach’s future has been questioned following a series of inconsistent performances in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League. After 21 games, Kotoko sits fifth on the league table with 35 points, though they have advanced to the Round of 16 in the FA Cup.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Zito appealed to fans for understanding, promising to steer the club back on track.

“I have never been sacked as a head coach. If a club hires me, I will work, and at the end of the day, I’ll leave my role. But this is my club, and I know how the fans behave,” he said.

“I only plead with the fans to be patient, and we will surely win. We are in fifth place, and it’s not over. With 14 games left, we remain in contention for the league title.

“Sometimes, my players are disturbed, but I keep telling them this is the nature of our work. Fans have the right to protest, but they should be patient,” he added.

Kotoko will face Aduana FC in the FA Cup Round of 16 this weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium before hosting bitter rivals Hearts of Oak in Matchday 22 of the Ghana Premier League next weekend.

Ghana Premier League in a bidding war to sign Heart of Lions midfielder Etse Dogli https://www.adomonline.com/ghana-premier-league-in-a-bidding-war-to-sign-heart-of-lions-midfielder-etse-dogli/ Wed, 04 Feb 2026 11:09:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2627459 Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has revealed that several Ghana Premier League clubs are vying for the signature of highly rated midfielder Etse Dogli.

Dogli has become a key figure for the Kpando-based side since joining the club in August, playing an influential role in their 2025/26 campaign. The midfielder has already made 18 league appearances, consistently delivering strong performances in the heart of midfield.

Hayford admitted that Dogli’s impressive form has attracted attention from several top-flight sides.

“You just heard from the Kotoko coach that he wants to come for him, and that is good. All the teams want him,” Hayford told journalists after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Asante Kotoko.

The coach praised Dogli’s development since his arrival, emphasizing that the club is focused on refining his talent.

“He has been a very good player ever since we had him, and we are polishing him. Anytime we give him the opportunity, he delivers, and I am not surprised he is part of the local Black Stars,” he added.

Buoyed by their convincing win over Kotoko, Heart of Lions will look to sustain their resurgence when they travel to the Golden City Park to face Berekum Chelsea in their Matchday 22 fixture next weekend.

Kotoko coach Karim Zito aiming to win FA Cup and Premier League https://www.adomonline.com/kotoko-coach-karim-zito-aiming-to-win-fa-cup-and-premier-league/ Tue, 03 Feb 2026 06:54:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2626788 Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has set his sights on a domestic double, targeting both the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup titles in the 2025/26 season.

The Porcupine Warriors have endured a challenging league campaign and currently sit fifth on the table with 35 points from 21 matches, eight points behind leaders Medeama SC.

This weekend, Kotoko will host Aduana FC in the FA Cup Round of 16 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Ahead of the encounter, Zito stressed the need for focus and discipline, warning that his side cannot afford to repeat mistakes made in recent league outings.

“Definitely, we have to win that game against Aduana FC. We don’t have any excuse because my main objective is to win the league or the FA Cup — or even the double,” the former Black Satellites head coach said.

“So definitely, I have to work hard because we cannot afford to lose to Aduana,” Zito added.

Following the FA Cup clash, Kotoko will return to Ghana Premier League action to face arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in Matchday 22 at the Baba Yara Stadium in what promises to be another high-stakes Super Clash.

Asante Kotoko marks one-year anniversary of Nana Pooley’s tragic death https://www.adomonline.com/asante-kotoko-marks-one-year-anniversary-of-nana-pooleys-tragic-death/ Mon, 02 Feb 2026 09:31:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2626469 Asante Kotoko has marked the first anniversary of the tragic death of their supporter, Francis Frimpong, popularly known as “Nana Pooley.”

Pooley was fatally stabbed by an unidentified fan during Kotoko’s match against the now-defunct Nsoatreman FC in Nsoatre on February 2, 2025. He was discovered at the stadium entrance with severe injuries, bleeding from his stomach.

In a statement on Monday, February 2, the club remembered Pooley as a devoted fan whose life was senselessly cut short.

“We stand together to remember a fallen supporter whose life was cut short by mindless hooliganism—a tragedy that should never happen again,” Kotoko said.

“The pain of his absence is still felt every day. Pooley lived for the beautiful game, and while some hooligans took his life, they can never take away his memories, the joy, and the love he brought to the stands.”

No convictions have been made, as the case remains in court with eight individuals currently on trial.

“Today, we call for continued justice and recommit ourselves to ensuring our game centres remain places of safety and unity, free from violence,” the club added.

Full Statement:

The incident cast a shadow over last season’s Premier League, prompting a month-long suspension of matches to allow stakeholder consultations and the introduction of stricter safety measures.

Following the events, Nsoatreman FC withdrew from the competition.

We were disappointing – Didi Dramani reacts to Hearts of Oak’s Bechem United draw https://www.adomonline.com/we-were-disappointing-didi-dramani-reacts-to-hearts-of-oaks-bechem-united-draw/ Mon, 02 Feb 2026 06:36:34 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2626373 Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has described his side’s goalless draw against Bechem United as a disappointing outcome.

The Phobians hosted the Hunters at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday in their Matchday 21 Ghana Premier League fixture.

Despite enjoying large spells of possession and controlling much of the game, Hearts of Oak failed to break down Bechem United’s defence, settling for a 0-0 stalemate.

Reflecting on the result, Dramani admitted his frustration, noting that the visitors appeared content to play on the counter.

“For them, they will say it’s a fair result because right from the onset, we could see that is what they wanted to do — to sit back and go on the break,” he said.

“We could have also lost the game because in such situations it’s really tough. I think we were disappointing,” Dramani added.

The draw leaves Hearts of Oak fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 36 points. The Phobians will look to bounce back when they face rivals Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Basake Holy Stars continued their fine home form with a 2–0 win over Berekum Chelsea at the AAK Park. Prince Opoku opened the scoring before an own goal from Michael Mensah Awuah sealed the victory.

Heart of Lions damage Kotoko’s title chances with 3-1 win https://www.adomonline.com/heart-of-lions-damage-kotokos-title-chances-with-3-1-win/ Sat, 31 Jan 2026 17:49:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2626170 Asante Kotoko’s title hopes have taken a significant blow following a 3-1 defeat to Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Matchday 21 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors struggled to find their rhythm in the opening exchanges, allowing the home side to seize control. Asante Seedorf Afful opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and Fawzi Ali doubled Heart of Lions’ lead just before halftime, leaving Kotoko trailing 2-0 at the break.

Kotoko improved after the interval, with Ndongani Samba Gilbani converting a penalty in the 58th minute to pull one back. However, Michael Ephson restored the two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute, securing a well-deserved victory for Heart of Lions.

The win ends a poor run of results for the Lions and lifts them to seventh place on 30 points. Asante Kotoko remain third with 35 points and will look to regroup ahead of their Super Clash showdown with Hearts of Oak. Heart of Lions now turn their attention to next week’s encounter with Berekum Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Vision FC and Dreams FC played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex. Dreams’ John Antwi struck twice to give the visitors an early advantage, but Nana Kwesi Amoah pulled one back for Vision just before halftime. Mohammed Iddrisu then secured a late equalizer for Vision in the 90th minute.

The result leaves Vision FC 13th on 24 points, while Dreams FC sit ninth with 26 points. Vision will travel to face Eleven Wonders in Matchday 22, and Dreams host Karela United.

Razak Simpson grabs brace as Nations FC stun Medeama to end unbeaten run https://www.adomonline.com/razak-simpson-grabs-brace-as-nations-fc-stun-medeama-to-end-unbeaten-run/ Fri, 30 Jan 2026 20:43:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2625728 Nations FC brought Medeama SC’s impressive 17-game unbeaten run to a halt with a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Friday afternoon at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.

The Matchday 21 encounter saw the league leaders take an early lead when in-form striker Kingsley Braye powered home a fine header in the 8th minute, connecting perfectly with Fatawu Sulemana’s well-delivered corner to put the Mauve and Yellow ahead.

Nations FC, however, responded with determination, led by an inspired performance from captain Razak Simpson. The centre-back restored parity in the 19th minute, rising above his markers to head home from a corner and beat goalkeeper Felix Kyei.

Just before the interval, Simpson completed a remarkable brace. Nations were awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute, and the skipper kept his composure to slot the spot kick into the bottom corner, turning the game around and sending the hosts into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

Medeama pressed hard for an equaliser after the restart, piling sustained pressure on the Nations defence, but the home side stood firm to protect their lead until the final whistle.

The defeat represents only Medeama SC’s second loss of the season and ends an unbeaten run that stretched back to September 2025. Despite the setback, Medeama remain top of the league standings with 43 points, while Nations FC climb to eighth place on 27 points.

Nations FC will look to build on this momentum when they travel to face Hohoe United, while Medeama SC host Aduana FC at the TNA Park in the Matchday 22 fixtures scheduled for next weekend.

Drawing a parallel between football and life, the Kotoko coach stressed the importance of resilience and belief.

Albert Amoah is not an automatic starter at Kotoko – Karim Zito https://www.adomonline.com/albert-amoah-is-not-an-automatic-starter-at-kotoko-karim-zito/ Thu, 29 Jan 2026 11:47:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2625130 Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has made it clear that striker Albert Amoah is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup despite his impressive return to the club.

The 25-year-old rejoined the Ghana Premier League side on loan from Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi until the end of the season. Amoah made an instant impact over the weekend, scoring in Kotoko’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium.

However, Zito insists that selection will be based strictly on performance in training and team cohesion, not reputation or past displays.

“I cannot say he will get an automatic place. Training will decide everything. That is why we train,” the Kotoko coach said.

“I don’t have a say now—what happens on the training ground will show us what to do. It’s about understanding and combinations. The players you pair who give you results are the best,” he added.

Amoah will hope to build on his fine start when Kotoko take on Heart of Lions in their Matchday 21 fixture at the Kpando Sports Stadium.

Aduana FC appoint Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu as International Relations Manager https://www.adomonline.com/aduana-fc-appoint-emmanuel-agyemang-badu-as-international-relations-manager/ Thu, 29 Jan 2026 10:29:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2625107 Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has been appointed International Relations Manager at Ghana Premier League side Aduana FC.

In his new role, Agyemang-Badu will help establish structures to enhance player development and exposure, while leveraging his network to build strategic partnerships for the club.

The appointment was officially confirmed on Wednesday, January 28, during a training session with the team.

Addressing management, technical staff, and players, Agyemang-Badu expressed gratitude to the club’s owner, Nana Agyemang Badu II, and outlined his vision for Aduana FC’s future.

“First, I thank Nana Agyemang Badu II, the management, CEO Atta Poku, and the technical team. I was able to monitor your last game. I am here to help the club succeed. What I know about football is that when someone invests in the game, they have to benefit from it,” he said.

He emphasized the need for strong structures and marketable quality, noting that the club must position itself to attract opportunities beyond local support.

“It is not always that CEO Atta Poku will go to Nana for support; we have to be able to deliver quality, and that quality could sell itself. I have to create links out there. Although I have links already, we need to create new ones as well. We need to sell the name Aduana,” he added.

Aduana FC will hope that Agyemang-Badu’s addition to the management team helps guide the club toward sustained growth on and off the pitch.

Meanwhile, the two-time Ghana Premier League champions will face FC Samartex in their Matchday 21 fixture at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

Officiating in Premier League is concerning – Former GFA Veep https://www.adomonline.com/officiating-in-premier-league-is-concerning-former-gfa-veep/ Wed, 28 Jan 2026 10:46:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2624642 Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President, George Afriyie, has raised concerns over the standard of officiating in the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

After a promising start that saw increased fan attendance across venues, recent weeks have been overshadowed by questionable refereeing decisions and allegations of misconduct.

Speaking to Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Afriyie acknowledged the league’s strong opening but expressed worries about its current state.

“The Premier League started very well, and attendance increased at the various venues, but the allegations and poor officiating have soiled the integrity of the league, and it is worrying and concerning,” he said.

Afriyie urged league authorities to take decisive action, including a review of leadership within the Referees Management Committee.

“I don’t want to rate the league, but what I will say is that those running the league must sit up and do the right thing. I think that the GFA should consider changing the Chairman or Chairperson of the Referees Management Committee as part of the solution to dealing with poor officiating,” he added.

Despite the concerns, Matchday 21 fixtures are set to proceed as scheduled at their respective stadia.

Samba O’Neil reluctant to sign new Asante Kotoko contract https://www.adomonline.com/samba-oneil-reluctant-to-sign-new-asante-kotoko-contract/ Tue, 27 Jan 2026 16:24:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2624296 Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, has acknowledged that the club is facing challenges in extending the contract of defender Samba O’Neil.

The Congolese centre-back is nearing the end of his current deal, which is set to expire at the close of the season. Despite repeated attempts by the club’s hierarchy to secure his future, O’Neil has so far been reluctant to commit to a new contract.

The 26-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from clubs in Libya, South Africa, and Tanzania, further complicating Kotoko’s efforts to retain him.

“We sent a new proposal to Samba and his team, and we are awaiting their response,” Sarfo Duku told Luv FM.

“Looking at how long this has taken, because we started this conversation almost a year ago, it seems increasingly difficult for the player to renew his contract. But we continue pressing with the hope that he will have a change of mind, especially if he feels he wants to continue here,” he added.

O’Neil has been a key figure for the Reds this season, making 19 appearances and scoring three goals. He is expected to feature in Kotoko’s Matchday 21 fixture away to Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium.

Karim Zito commends Albert Amoah for improved attitude https://www.adomonline.com/karim-zito-commends-albert-amoah-for-improved-attitude/ Mon, 26 Jan 2026 12:58:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2623761 Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has praised Albert Amoah for showing notable improvement in his attitude since returning to the club.

The forward, who recently played for Libyan side Al-Ahly Benghazi, rejoined the Porcupine Warriors on a deal running until the end of the season and has already started making an impact in the Ghana Premier League. Amoah was on the scoresheet over the weekend as Kotoko secured a 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Zito highlighted how Amoah’s experience abroad influenced his approach to the game.

“His approach, his attitude has changed—the attitude change,” Zito said.

“When you go to play abroad, certain things force you to change your attitude, and that is money. If you don’t perform, they deduct it. They pay you more, so the approach to the game is quite different, even though it’s the same Amoah we all know,” he added.

Kotoko will aim to maintain their strong form when they travel to face Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday for their Matchday 21 fixture.

Didi Dramani unimpressed despite Hearts of Oak’s 3-0 win over Eleven Wonders https://www.adomonline.com/didi-dramani-unimpressed-despite-hearts-of-oaks-3-0-win-over-eleven-wonders/ Mon, 26 Jan 2026 06:46:16 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2623504 Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani cut a dissatisfied figure despite his side’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Eleven Wonders on Matchday 20 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians, who were hosted by bottom-placed Eleven Wonders at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, recorded their biggest win of the season thanks to goals from Mawuli Wayo, Martin Karikari and Kelvin Osei Asibey.

The victory lifted Hearts of Oak into the league’s top four.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Dramani was far from satisfied with the overall performance and admitted after the game that the display fell short of his expectations.

“I wasn’t too happy a person,” the Hearts coach said.

While acknowledging the importance of the clean sheet and margin of victory, Dramani stressed that his side must improve in key areas, particularly decision-making and efficiency in front of goal.

“I think it is good that we had our first 3-0 win, but we still need to be more clinical. We need to be more conventional and also make the right decisions in very key moments,” he explained.

The coach also pointed to tactical shortcomings, especially in the team’s defensive organisation and approach without the ball.

“For me, I focus more on the small details of the game, both in terms of our defensive structure and having a clear identity of what we have to do when we don’t have the ball, especially when we need to win it in higher positions.

“These key aspects are things I don’t take lightly. I really emphasise them,” he added.

Hearts of Oak currently sit fourth on the league table with 35 points and will shift focus to a tough Matchday 21 encounter against Bechem United this weekend.

On Saturday, Hearts of Oak cruised to a dominant 3-0 victory over Eleven Wonders at the University of Ghana Stadium. Goals from Mawuli Wayo, Martin Karikari and Kelvin Osei Asibey capped a comfortable afternoon for the Phobians.

Sunday’s action opened at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, where Bechem United edged Heart of Lions 1-0. Augustine Okrah’s early strike in the fourth minute proved decisive as the Hunters secured all three points at home.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea claimed a crucial 2-0 win against defending champions Bibiani GoldStars. Dominic Frimpong and Prince Anane found the net in either half, a result that eased the pressure on head coach Samuel Boadu.

Dreams FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Young Apostles at the Tuba AstroTurf. After a goalless first half, Kofi Kumah broke the deadlock in the 66th minute for the hosts, but Richmond Nsiah Coka responded six minutes later to earn a point for the visitors.

Hohoe United and Vision FC shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Sena Ati gave Hohoe an early lead in the fifth minute, but Vision turned the game around after the break through Mohammed Sam-An and Emmanuel Sanja. However, Lawson Bekui struck late to salvage a point for the home side.

Medeama SC continued their impressive form at the TNA Park with a 3-1 victory over Karela United. Kamaradini Mamudu opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Solomon Aboagye quickly equalised. Derrick Fordjour restored Medeama’s lead shortly after, and Mamudu completed his brace in the second half to secure the win.

At DUN’s Park, FC Samartex recorded a solid 2-0 win over Nations FC, with Christian Agyenim Boateng and Kwaku Owusu scoring in either half.

Swedru All Blacks suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Aduana FC at the Swedru Sports Stadium. Benjamin Tsivanyo was the hero for the Dormaa-based side, netting twice in the 26th and 66th minutes.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko delivered an emphatic 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium. Ndongani Samba Gilbani opened the scoring in the 30th minute before Albert Amoah, back at the club on loan, doubled the advantage after the break. Kwame Opoku later wrapped up the win.

After Matchday 20, Medeama SC, Asante Kotoko, Aduana FC and Hearts of Oak occupy the top four positions on the league table, while Basake Holy Stars, Hohoe United and Eleven Wonders remain in the relegation zone.

Fiifi Parker Hanson leaves Dreams FC assistant coaching role https://www.adomonline.com/fiifi-parker-hanson-leaves-dreams-fc-assistant-coaching-role/ Sun, 25 Jan 2026 15:06:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2623415 Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC have announced the departure of assistant coach Fiifi Parker Hanson, bringing an early end to his stint with the club.

Parker Hanson joined the Still Believe lads from Division Two outfit Golden Kick ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

However, his time at Dawu has been cut short after he submitted a resignation letter, citing his desire to return to his struggling former club.

In a statement released on Sunday, January 25, Dreams FC confirmed that management had accepted his decision to step down.

“Coach Hanson expressed his desire to return to his struggling Division Two club in his letter of resignation which has since been accepted by Management,” the statement read.

“The club places on record its thanks to the departed coach and wishes him the very best of luck.”

Sources close to the club, however, suggest that the separation was reached by mutual consent following internal challenges, leading to an amicable parting of ways.

Dreams FC have since moved to reinforce their technical setup, appointing former Legon Cities assistant coach Saeed Adnan to work alongside Winfred Dormon as the club seeks stability on the bench for the remainder of the season.

After the break, Martin Karikari extended the lead in the 63rd minute, and Kelvin Osei Asibey wrapped up the win from the penalty spot in the 77th minute.

Hearts of Oak must exploit Eleven Wonders’ vulnerabilities – Coach Didi Dramani https://www.adomonline.com/hearts-of-oak-must-exploit-eleven-wonders-vulnerabilities-coach-didi-dramani/ Fri, 23 Jan 2026 07:24:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622733 Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has lauded Eleven Wonders ahead of their weekend clash, urging his side not to underestimate their opponents despite their position at the bottom of the league table.

The two teams will face off on Saturday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in what promises to be a pivotal encounter.

Speaking in a pre-match interview, Dramani stressed that Eleven Wonders remain a quality side, insisting their relegation-zone position does not reflect the strength of their squad.

“I think the position of Eleven Wonders should not deceive people. They have one of the finest squads in the league,” he said.

“They play fluid football and keep the ball well, so we will try as much as possible to create spaces and take advantage of the vulnerabilities they present.”

The former Black Stars assistant coach added that while Hearts of Oak will respect their opponents, they will also look to capitalise on any weaknesses.

“We will respect what they have, but we will also exploit their inability to defend as a team,” he added.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.

The side currently sit 15th on the league table with 22 points from 19 matches, a position that has raised concerns about their relegation prospects. However, Domfeh insists the club will avoid the drop despite a patchy run of form.

“We will survive relegation,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show. “From the games we have played, we can do better, and we will give Dreams FC a good game this weekend, so relegation is out of the conversation.”

Young Apostles will be aiming to bounce back after a 2-2 home draw against Hohoe United. They travel to the Tuba AstroTurf this weekend to face Dreams FC in their Matchday 20 fixture.

The club had earlier threatened to boycott the league but has since reversed that decision and confirmed its commitment to continue competing in the Ghana Premier League.

I am back to finish what I started at Kotoko – Albert Amoah explains his return https://www.adomonline.com/i-am-back-to-finish-what-i-started-at-kotoko-albert-amoah-explains-his-return/ Wed, 21 Jan 2026 18:02:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622239 Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah has shed light on the reasons behind his return to the club, insisting unfinished business drove his decision.

The 25-year-old has rejoined the Porcupine Warriors on loan from Libyan outfit Al Ahly Benghazi, marking a swift return to the Ghana Premier League.

Amoah left Kotoko for Al Ahly Benghazi earlier in the season but made his way back following the Libyan side’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, where they suffered a heavy defeat to Wydad Athletic Club.

Speaking to Kotoko’s official media channels, the striker said his desire to achieve success with the Kumasi-based giants played a key role in his move, stressing his determination to make an immediate impact as the club targets a strong finish to the campaign.

“I decided to return to Asante Kotoko to finish what I started. I’ve never won the Ghana Premier League before, and that is one of the main reasons I came back,” he said.

He added that the title race remains wide open and believes the team can still mount a serious challenge.

“When you look at the league table, it’s far from over. There are still many matches to play, and we will work together as a team to make sure we win it,” Amoah added.

Amoah could make his return debut this weekend when Asante Kotoko host Basake Holy Stars in their Matchday 20 fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Young Apostles reverses Premier League boycott threat https://www.adomonline.com/young-apostles-reverses-premier-league-boycott-threat/ Wed, 21 Jan 2026 10:27:30 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622040 The Chief Executive Officer of Young Apostles, Gerald Domfeh, has announced that the Wenchi-based club has reversed its earlier decision to boycott the Ghana Premier League.

The team had threatened to withdraw from the topflight following what they described as unfair officiating in their 2-2 draw against Hohoe United on Matchday 19.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Domfeh confirmed that the club will continue its league campaign after a management review.

“We had a meeting to review our performance for the first half of the season with the management, but we have come to the conclusion that we will not boycott the league. We will continue to play and compete well in the league,” he said.

Domfeh explained that the initial boycott threat was due to dissatisfaction with some decisions made by match officials.

“Our initial decision was based on grievances over unfair officiating. We were just not happy with some of the things that were happening, and that influenced my decision to come on the radio to threaten a boycott,” he added.

The CEO also issued an apology for his earlier remarks.

“I apologise for my earlier remarks by threatening to boycott playing in the Premier League,” Domfeh stated.

Young Apostles will now focus on their next fixture, traveling to face Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf in their Matchday 20 clash.

Relationship between players and referees is hostile – Aduana FC CEO https://www.adomonline.com/relationship-between-players-and-referees-is-hostile-aduana-fc-ceo/ Wed, 21 Jan 2026 09:55:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2622003 Aduana FC CEO, Collins Atta Poku, has stressed the importance for Ghanaian football clubs to actively market both their clubs and players.

Speaking to Luv FM, he highlighted the need to build player capacity and provide relevant media materials to help potential buyers conduct due diligence.

He also urged club officials to avoid seeking personal attention that could compromise the club’s image.

“We can’t be projecting ourselves at the expense of the club,” he said.

“Build capacity into the players. I’m not even bluffing—just a year ago, I was part of the management. If you Googled Aduana FC players, you wouldn’t find current pictures of some, or sometimes none at all.

“When someone goes to the transfer market to evaluate a player, they will try to find videos and pictures. If you don’t make it accessible, it complicates the process. You have to take this seriously,” he added.

Atta Poku also announced an upcoming media interaction at Prempeh College School Park, which will allow social media influencers, bloggers, and journalists to engage with the players.

I once rejected bribe from Alhaji Grusah – Retired referee Thomas Nunoo alleges https://www.adomonline.com/i-once-rejected-bribe-from-alhaji-grusah-retired-referee-thomas-nunoo-alleges/ Tue, 20 Jan 2026 22:17:38 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2621551 Retired Ghanaian referee Thomas Nunoo has revealed that he once turned down a bribe from veteran football administrator Alhaji Karim Grusah.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Nunoo, now a CAF and FIFA Instructor, alleged that Grusah attempted to influence him ahead of a Ghana Premier League match. He said he promptly reported the incident to the Premier League Board, then chaired by Welbeck Abra-Appiah.

Thomas Nunoo

“During my days of officiating, I never accepted a bribe or allowed myself to be compromised,” Nunoo stated.

“The only person who tried to influence me was Alhaji Grusah, but I reported him to the Premier League Board. He was angry because his club ended up losing the game, and we even argued about it on the radio,” he added.

Nunoo used the platform to urge current referees to remain steadfast and report any attempts at manipulation.
“I will urge all referees to be firm and not accept any bribe or compromise from anyone. You may receive offers from administrators, but these should always be reported to the Football Association,” he advised.

His remarks come amid growing concerns over officiating in the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, where inconsistent performances by match officials have drawn widespread criticism.

The incident occurred during Matchday 19 when Kotoko visited DUN’s Park to face the defending Ghana Premier League champions. After a goalless first half, the Porcupine Warriors appeared to take the lead through a second-half header from Samba O’Neil.

However, the goal was ruled out after referee Julian Nunoo blew for a foul, as replays suggested that goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi had pushed his teammate. The game ended 0-0.

Retired Ghanaian referee Thomas Nunoo

The decision has drawn strong criticism from the club’s fans, who have called for strict sanctions against the official.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Thomas Nunoo, now a CAF and FIFA instructor, admitted that his son made the wrong call and said the error stemmed from poor positioning.

“My son Julian Nunoo is very much worried about his decision to disallow Asante Kotoko’s goal against Bibiani GoldStars,” he said.

“He had that decision wrong, and it was about his positioning on the pitch,” he added.

In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to convene a meeting with the match officials involved to address the controversy.

Officiating in Ghana Premier League “worrying” – CAF and FIFA instructor Thomas Nunoo https://www.adomonline.com/officiating-in-ghana-premier-league-worrying-caf-and-fifa-instructor-thomas-nunoo/ Tue, 20 Jan 2026 22:15:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2621480 CAF and FIFA instructor Thomas Nunoo has raised serious concerns about the standard of officiating in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.

Officiating controversies have repeatedly overshadowed play, with several high-profile incidents fuelling widespread dissatisfaction among clubs and fans.

In the Matchday 19 fixture, Asante Kotoko were controversially denied a goal against Bibiani GoldStars, while Young Apostles have threatened to boycott the league over what they describe as unfair refereeing.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Nunoo described the recent performances of referees as “worrying,” stressing that the issue should not be left solely to the league’s Review Committee.

“The recent performance of our referees in the Ghana Premier League is worrying,” he said.
“We should not wait for the Review Committee to raise concerns; we should be able to ask questions and make decisions.”

Nunoo also suggested that some referees’ decisions may be influenced by their positions, a claim that has intensified calls for urgent reforms.

“Many of the decisions of some Premier League referees appear to be influenced by their positions,” Nunoo added.

In response to the growing criticism, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is reportedly planning a meeting with match officials to address the concerns and restore confidence in officiating standards.

Unilever Ghana partners Hearts of Oak, donates products https://www.adomonline.com/unilever-ghana-partners-hearts-of-oak-donates-products/ Tue, 20 Jan 2026 05:26:00 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2621619 Unilever Ghana, distributors of Rexona deodorant, has entered into a partnership with Ghanaian football giants Accra Hearts of Oak, reaffirming its commitment to the development of local football.

The partnership was marked by a donation of Rexona’s newly launched products to the entire Hearts of Oak team at the club’s sports complex in Pobiman.

The gesture is aimed at supporting the players both on and off the pitch while strengthening the relationship between the two brands.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Unilever’s International Manager, Onyx Adjei, expressed his excitement about the partnership. He noted that Unilever’s decision to collaborate with Hearts of Oak is driven by a desire to promote and uplift local football.

“We believe in supporting local sports, and Hearts of Oak is a strong brand in Ghana and Africa. This partnership is part of our contribution to football development,” he said.

Mr Adjei further urged the players to raise their performance levels and strive to compete consistently on the continental stage, particularly in the CAF Champions League.

On behalf of the club, Madam Philips Mensah, Operations Manager of Accra Hearts of Oak, expressed her appreciation to Unilever for the support. She assured the sponsors that the team is committed to working harder and improving performance to make a strong impact in African competitions.

“We are grateful to Unilever for this partnership. The team is determined to gel well and represent Ghana proudly in Africa,” she stated.

Also present at the event was Robert Amamoo, Marketing Manager of Daddy Ash Limited, a key distributor of Rexona deodorant. He expressed his delight at being part of the partnership and commended both the management and players of Hearts of Oak for embracing the collaboration.

Unilever’s management further assured Hearts of Oak of increased sponsorship support should the club qualify for the CAF Champions League, a move that has been welcomed by fans and stakeholders.

The partnership is expected to boost player morale and strengthen the bond between corporate Ghana and local football as Hearts of Oak continue their pursuit of domestic and continental success.

Young Apostles to boycott Ghana Premier League games over poor officiating https://www.adomonline.com/young-apostles-to-boycott-ghana-premier-league-games-over-poor-officiating/ Mon, 19 Jan 2026 13:14:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2621023 The Chief Executive Officer of Young Apostles, Gerald Domfeh, has announced that the club will boycott the remainder of their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League matches, citing dissatisfaction with refereeing standards.

The decision follows a 2-2 draw against Hohoe United on Matchday 19 at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, a result Domfeh says reflects broader officiating issues this season.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Domfeh stated that while the team will still appear for scheduled matches, they will not actively compete on the field.

“As a club, we have decided to boycott the rest of our Premier League games. We will show up on matchdays but will not compete once the game starts,” he said.

Domfeh added that the club sees greater value in competing in the Division One League, where they can sell players and generate revenue, rather than continuing under the current Premier League conditions.

“It makes more sense for us to compete in the Division One League rather than in the Premier League. We can sell players and make money there, and that is our decision,” he explained.

Currently 15th on the league table with 22 points, Young Apostles are set to face Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf in their upcoming Matchday 20 fixture.

Asante Kotoko coaches charged by GFA over conduct in Bibiani GoldStars draw https://www.adomonline.com/asante-kotoko-coaches-charged-by-gfa-over-conduct-in-bibiani-goldstars-draw/ Mon, 19 Jan 2026 09:28:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2620900 Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito and his assistant, Prince Yaw Owusu, have been charged by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee following their Premier League clash with Bibiani GoldStars.

In a statement issued on Monday, the GFA cited alleged breaches of Article 12(1)(i) of its Disciplinary Code, which relates to misconduct towards match officials.

The charges follow incidents during the weekend’s goalless draw against the defending champions, a result that extended Kotoko’s recent struggles in the league.

According to the GFA, both coaches are accused of exhibiting unsporting behaviour towards the match officials after a contentious decision. Kotoko were left aggrieved when a goal by Samba O’Neil was disallowed, with officials ruling that a foul had been committed in the build-up inside the opposition penalty area.

Zito and Owusu have been given until Wednesday, January 21, to formally respond to the charges.

The draw saw the Porcupine Warriors slip to fourth place on the Ghana Premier League table, leaving them eight points behind league leaders Medeama.

2025/26 GHPL MD19 Wrap: Nations FC dent Aduana’s title chances as Heart of Lions end winless run against Eleven Wonders https://www.adomonline.com/2025-26-ghpl-md19-wrap-nations-fc-dent-aduanas-title-chances-as-heart-of-lions-end-winless-run-against-eleven-wonders/ Sun, 18 Jan 2026 18:24:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2620704 Matchday 19 of the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League wrapped up across the country with a mix of tight contests, surprise results and significant implications at both ends of the table.

Action began on Friday at the University of Ghana Stadium, where Hearts of Oak were held to a goalless draw by Dreams FC. A similar outcome was recorded at Dun’s Park, as Bibiani GoldStars and Asante Kotoko cancelled each other out in a 0-0 stalemate.

At the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, Vision FC fell 2-1 to league leaders Medeama SC. Faruk Mohammed gave the hosts a first-half advantage, but Medeama turned the game around after the break, with Salim Adams scoring twice to maintain their grip at the summit.

Sunday’s fixtures produced more decisive results. Basake Holy Stars claimed a 2-1 victory over Bechem United at the AAK II Park. Prince Opoku opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Simba Sylvester doubled the lead before halftime. Bechem United pulled one back through Augustine Okraku after the interval, but it proved only a consolation.

Berekum Chelsea’s struggles continued at the Golden City Park, where they were held to a 0-0 draw by Swedru All Blacks, extending their poor run of form. Heart of Lions, however, ended an eight-game winless streak with a narrow 1-0 home win over relegation-threatened Eleven Wonders, thanks to Ishmael Addo’s 33rd-minute strike.

At the Aliu Mahama Stadium, Karela United suffered a 1-0 defeat to FC Samartex. After a goalless first half, Christian Agyenim Boateng’s 51st-minute effort sealed all three points for the Timber Boys.

Young Apostles and Hohoe United shared the spoils in a dramatic 2-2 draw at the Wenchi Sports Stadium. Anane Keke David opened the scoring for the visitors in the 19th minute before Emmanuel Kyeremeh responded with a quick double to turn the game around. Richmond Opoku pulled one back for Hohoe United before the break, and Emmanuel Kyeremeh later equalised in the second half to ensure both sides settled for a point apiece.

At the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Stadium, Aduana FC’s title ambitions suffered a setback following a 1-0 home defeat to Nations FC. Joseph Effah scored the decisive goal to hand Nations a crucial away victory.

Sack Odotei and Akambi if you want Hearts of Oak to progress – Togbe Afede told https://www.adomonline.com/sack-odotei-and-akambi-if-you-want-hearts-of-oak-to-progress-togbe-afede-told/ Sat, 17 Jan 2026 11:53:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2620436 Former Hearts of Oak management member Barimah Atuahene has urged the club’s majority shareholder, Togbe Afede XIV, to sack former board members Vincent Sowah Odotei and Alhaji Braimah Akambi from the club’s leadership.

His call comes amid growing concern over the club’s decline in recent seasons. Hearts of Oak enjoyed success under coach Samuel Boadu, winning five trophies across the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns, but have since struggled to maintain their former dominance.

In an interview with Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Atuahene insisted the club’s current woes will persist as long as Odotei and Akambi remain involved.

Barimah Atuahene

“With Odotei and Akambi around Hearts of Oak, the club will continue to struggle. These people have been around teh team and the team keep retrogressing.

“I think it is about time that Togbe Afede sack these people from the club. The supporters want them out, and I agree with the call by the fans.”

Atuahene further stressed the need for a more capable management structure to steer the club forward.

“I think Togbe should get competent management that will report to him. I am sad anytime I watch Hearts of Oak play. Togbe has spent millions on this team, but they keep failing him.”

He also highlighted the club’s strong infrastructure, insisting the current squad should be delivering better results.

“With the infrastructure at the club now, these players should be performing, but that is not the case,” he added.

Hearts of Oak were held to a 0-0 draw by Dreams FC on Friday, January 16, at the University of Ghana Stadium, leaving them temporarily in fourth place with 32 points.

Kotoko remain in contention to win Premier League title – Sarfo Duku https://www.adomonline.com/kotoko-remain-in-contention-to-win-premier-league-title-sarfo-duku/ Sat, 17 Jan 2026 11:23:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2620401 Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has insisted the club still believes it can challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently fifth on the league table with 31 points from 18 matches, trailing leaders Medeama SC by six points.

Despite a string of inconsistent results, Duku remains confident that Kotoko can still mount a title challenge.

“Of course, that is what we hope to achieve for this particular season, and I believe that it is still within our capacity and ability to do, to achieve, except that things are becoming difficult for us,” he said.

“That is why we are doing all that we can as management to ensure that things are shaped up and then to be able to turn the fortunes of the club, as you are witnessing now,” he added.

Duku also admitted the team’s overall performance has not met expectations.

“I don’t think it’s the best if you want to win the league, so honestly, we are not satisfied with the performance of the team so far.”

Kotoko will be looking to bounce back from their recent home draw against Berekum Chelsea when they travel to face Bibiani GoldStars in today’s Matchday 19 fixture at the Dun’s Park.

Hearts of Oak is now ‘soulless’ – Former management member https://www.adomonline.com/hearts-of-oak-is-now-soulless-former-management-member/ Fri, 16 Jan 2026 13:31:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2620103 Former Hearts of Oak management member Barimah Atuahene has launched a scathing critique of the club, describing the Phobians as “soulless” amid their ongoing struggles.

Once a dominant force in Ghanaian and continental football, Hearts of Oak have struggled to regain their former glory. Their last major triumph came in the 2020/21 season when they won the Ghana Premier League under coach Samuel Boadu, ending a trophy drought of over a decade.

Since then, the club’s performances have been inconsistent, with the current campaign offering fresh disappointment. In the 2025/26 season, Hearts were eliminated from the FA Cup by lower-tier side True Life FC at the Kpando Sports Complex, a result that highlighted the team’s decline.

In the league, the Rainbow Club sit fifth on the table with 31 points from 18 matches, a position well below expectations for a club of their stature.

Reacting to these setbacks, Atuahene expressed concern over what he sees as a loss of identity at the club.

“Hearts of Oak has lost its spirit and is now soulless,” he said in an interview with Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

Despite the criticism, Hearts of Oak will be hoping to regain momentum after a hard-fought result against Hohoe United to start the second half of the season. They return to action this weekend with a home fixture against Dreams FC in Matchday 19 at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Asante Kotoko sign former striker Albert Amoah on loan from Al Ahly Benghazi https://www.adomonline.com/asante-kotoko-sign-former-striker-albert-amoah-on-loan-from-al-ahly-benghazi/ Fri, 16 Jan 2026 06:49:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619926 Asante Kotoko have confirmed the return of striker Albert Amoah, securing his services on loan from Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi for the remainder of the season.

Amoah’s move to North Africa earlier this year followed Kotoko’s early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, where the club suffered a heavy defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the preliminary round.

However, limited playing time in Libya prompted the forward’s swift return to the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors announced Amoah’s signing late on Thursday, the final day of the transfer window.

Amoah previously impressed at Kotoko after joining from Great Olympics in 2024, finishing the 2024–25 season as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

He also played a key role in the club’s FA Cup triumph, scoring three goals in four matches during the campaign.

This season, the striker has already netted four goals in six appearances, including a brace against Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.

Details regarding when Amoah will make his first appearance since returning to Kumasi are yet to be confirmed.

Didi Dramani not concerned about Mawuli Wayo and Osei Assibey’s absence ahead of Dreams FC tie https://www.adomonline.com/didi-dramani-not-concerned-about-mawuli-wayo-and-osei-assibeys-absence-ahead-of-dreams-fc-tie/ Fri, 16 Jan 2026 06:35:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619921 Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has downplayed concerns over the absence of two key players ahead of his side’s Ghana Premier League clash with Dreams FC.

The Phobians will host the Still Believe lads at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday in their Matchday 19 fixture, with kickoff scheduled for 15:30 GMT.

Hearts will be without forward Mawuli Wayo, who is sidelined with injury, while defender Kelvin Osei Assibey is suspended after accumulating the maximum number of yellow cards. Despite the setbacks, Dramani insists his squad is well-prepared to cope.

“The key aspect is that we have a consolidated team, and so we are a team. Whether you like it or not, these two players will not be eligible. Once players are not eligible, we try not to even focus on them,” he said.

Dramani disclosed that injuries have affected several players in recent weeks but believes the team has shown enough resilience to navigate the challenges.

“Even in training, we try to concentrate on those that we can fill in. Apart from these two, there are still others who are not available because of injuries, and we have survived all this period,” he noted.

The Hearts coach also offered advice to Wayo, stressing the need for composure and discipline.

“It’s a very short cut, but I think that Mawuli will learn from that. Out of excitement, you need to be very modest so that you don’t lose your head, because he’s an important person in our setup,” Dramani added.

Friday’s encounter presents an opportunity for Hearts of Oak to maintain momentum as they continue their push up the league table.

Julius Emunah set to become new Managing Director of Hearts of Oak https://www.adomonline.com/julius-emunah-set-to-become-new-managing-director-of-hearts-of-oak/ Wed, 14 Jan 2026 15:16:49 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619294 Julius Emunah is on the verge of being appointed as the new Managing Director of Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak, following his resignation from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after nearly ten years of service.

Emunah’s journey in Ghanaian football administration began in 2016 as Western Regional Secretary at the GFA.

He later became Regional Administrative Manager of the Western Region Football Association, a role he held until 2020.

He then moved to national-level positions, serving as National Safety and Security Officer and Club Licensing Manager between 2020 and 2024.

At Hearts of Oak, Emunah will succeed Delali Anku-Adiamah, who served as Managing Director from February 2024 to December 2025.

In his new position, he will oversee all club operations, liaise with key football governance bodies including the GFA and the Premier League Board, and report directly to the club’s Board of Directors while working closely with the Executive Chairman.

The move comes as Hearts of Oak seek to address lingering administrative challenges, with Emunah expected to spearhead improvements in governance and operational efficiency at the storied Accra-based club.

Hearts of Oak does not owe UG for using stadium – Kwame Opare Addo https://www.adomonline.com/hearts-of-oak-does-not-owe-ug-for-using-stadium-kwame-opare-addo/ Wed, 14 Jan 2026 13:33:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2619249 Communications Director of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, has challenged claims that the club owes the University of Ghana (UG) over the use of the Legon Sports Stadium, insisting there is no outstanding debt.

Recent reports alleged that the Ghana Premier League giants owe GH¢11,000 for matches and training sessions at the facility between 2016 and 2018.

The reports further suggested Hearts of Oak would be denied access to the stadium for their Matchday 19 clash against Dreams FC on Friday unless the amount is paid.

Reacting to the claims on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Opare Addo maintained that the club has fully settled all financial obligations to the university.

“The claimed debt by UG Sports Stadium is about GHS11,000 for matches and training from 2016 to 2018, even though we had left halfway through the season,” he said.

“Our records, confirmed by our then club accountant Hon. Hackman Seidu, show that all payments to UG Sports Stadium have been settled.”

He added that Hearts of Oak remains open to resolving the matter, provided credible evidence is presented.

“If the University of Ghana has a claim, they should provide proof, and we will settle it if verified,” he added.

Opare Addo expressed confidence that discussions with UG authorities will lead to a resolution, allowing the fixture against Dreams FC to be played at the Legon venue.

“Our game against Dreams FC will definitely be reconsidered to take place at the University of Ghana. That’s our venue, we can’t keep switching venues,” he added.

The Matchday 19 encounter is scheduled to kick off at 15:30 GMT on Friday.

Hearts of Oak coach optimistic over transfer ban resolution https://www.adomonline.com/hearts-of-oak-coach-optimistic-over-transfer-ban-resolution/ Tue, 13 Jan 2026 06:33:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2618527 Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has expressed hope that the club’s ongoing transfer ban will be lifted in the near future.

The Ghana Premier League side is currently barred from registering or selling players after failing to settle unpaid wages owed to former technical director Rene Hiddink.

The Dutch coach, who joined the Phobians in 2023 but left after eight months, dragged the club to FIFA over what he described as an unfair termination of his contract.

FIFA subsequently ruled in Hiddink’s favour, ordering Hearts of Oak to pay $150,000 within 90 days. The club’s failure to comply with the directive has resulted in a transfer ban spanning the next three transfer windows.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Dramani admitted the situation has been challenging but stressed that his focus remains on on-field matters while management handles the off-field issues.

“My work is on the pitch while the hierarchy of the club deals with the external issues, but I hope the transfer ban will be resolved so I can bring in players who can help strengthen the team,” he said.
