The items, numbering over 30, include anaesthesia machines, incubators, ECG machines, nebulisers, sterilisers, hospital beds, delivery sets, ward screens, and other essential equipment.

“Health care delivery is built on three pillars: infrastructure, personnel, and equipment. It is not wise to allow existing facilities to deteriorate while we focus only on building new ones. These items are meant to boost the quality of care and must be preserved,” he stressed.

The babies included three boys and two girls.

This delightful news was shared when Adom TV/FM’s Afia Amankwah Tamakloe, who doubles as the founder of the Smach Foundation Save Mother and Child visited the facility.

Afia expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the new mothers and urged expectant women to seek medical care at health facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and child.

In an interview with Adom News, she emphasised the importance of supporting new mothers, particularly during the challenging post-delivery period.

She also appealed to the government and relevant authorities to ensure that healthcare professionals are well-equipped and adequately compensated, highlighting the increasing number of skilled medical personnel leaving Ghana in search of better opportunities abroad.

“Our healthcare system must be strengthened to improve the quality of care we offer our citizens. We cannot afford to lose our dedicated healthcare professionals,” Afia said.

She used the opportunity to call on the government to invest in healthcare infrastructure and equipment to enhance the quality of services provided in hospitals across the country.

A midwifery officer at Ga North Municipal Hospital, Salomey Opokuaa, expressed her gratitude to the Smach Foundation for their continuous support.

She appealed to philanthropists and private citizens to donate essential equipment such as incubators to support the neonatal care unit.

“Every little bit helps. With more donations, we can ensure that every baby born in this facility receives the best possible care,” Salomey said.

In a touching gesture, Afia Amankwa also distributed gifts to the new mothers as part of the Christmas celebrations.

The gift items included baby clothes and essential items which were warmly received and expressed gratitude for the foundation’s support.

Some of the new mothers sharing their experiences with Adom News expressed their appreciation for the medical care they received at the hospital and for the thoughtful Christmas gifts from the Smach Foundation.

“This is such a beautiful Christmas gift for me and my baby,” one of the mothers said, smiling as she held her newborn. “I’m truly grateful for the support and the care from the doctors and nurses.”
