Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Friday, Forson stated that the government has made significant strides, and he will ensure continuity.

The candidate added he has the interest of his constituents at heart and he does not live off people or rely on businessmen for support.

“I don’t live off people; I am not a businessman. I’m a homeboy who accommodates almost everybody,” Forson said.

According to him, his focus is on serving the people of Tema Central, and he dismissed claims of arrogance, calling them “just propaganda.”

When asked what inspired his political journey, Forson touched on the challenges facing the youth in the constituency, particularly unemployment.

He said youth unemployment is a major challenge and expressed his readiness to tackle it head-on.

“The only contest is to win. We are not here to play games. It is about changing Tema Central and creating more opportunities for the youth. Youth unemployment is a challenge that I’m ready to cross, and we need to focus on providing more jobs for our young people,” Forson added.

Going forward, he stated that his focus is on making a positive impact on people’s lives.

“We are impacting people’s lives, and we are not ready to stop. My mission is to improve this community and provide the necessary resources and opportunities for the people of Tema Central,” he said.

Lydia Forson cries for Zimbabwe https://www.adomonline.com/lydia-forson-cries-zimbabwe/ Wed, 22 Nov 2017 14:06:01 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=692891 Actress Lydia Forson is not too certain about what would happen to Zimbabwe after the country’s president, Robert Mugabe, resigned.
According to the actress who was recently adjudged Africa’s best actress at the 2017 AFRIFF in Nigeria, examples of earlier countries that have faced a similar fate as Zimbabwe do not give her hope. But she prays Zimbabwe will be an exception.
“I’m not as interested in Mugabe’s resignation as I am with what comes after.
There are too many examples of countries that have been through this and turned out far worse off than they were with the “dictators” they did away with. I just hope Zimbabwe is the exception,” she said on Twitter ahead of Mugabe’s resignation.
Mugabe resigned as president of Zimbabwe on Tuesday November. A letter from Mr Mugabe said that the decision was voluntary and that he had made it to allow a smooth transfer of power, the Reuters news agency reported on Tuesday.
The surprise announcement halted an impeachment hearing that had begun against him.
Lawmakers roared in jubilation and people have begun celebrating in the streets.
Mr Mugabe had previously refused to resign despite last week’s military takeover and days of protests. He has been in power since independence in 1980.
What triggered the moves to oust him was his dismissal of Emmerson Mnangagwa as vice president two weeks ago.
That decision was seen by many as clearing the way for Mr Mugabe’s wife, Grace, to succeed her husband as leader. It riled the military leadership, who stepped in and put Mr Mugabe under house arrest.
Lydia says she does not support dictatorship. She abhors it as she does to western propaganda through media.
“For as long as we continue to wallow in blissful IGNORANCE!! We depend 100% on western media and their idea of who’s good/bad for us.
I’m not for dictatorship of any kind, but I despise it the same way I do western propaganda, neo colonialism and “re-colonialism” through media influence.”
“You can’t even speak openly about these things without western media misrepresenting it. They’ll gleefully talk about a leader oppressing his people, BUT NEVER their own continued “institutional” oppression of the African continent and black race as a whole.”
“It’s amazing how women are often held responsible for a man’s fall from grace, yet seldom are they applauded for a man’s achievements. #GraceMugabe,” she said in a chain of tweets.

Sad/ My Last words to a Facebook user who committed suicide and those who mocked him https://www.adomonline.com/sad-last-words-facebook-user-committed-suicide-mocked/ Wed, 18 Oct 2017 06:19:46 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=588351 About three days ago I saw what seemed to be a suicide note from one of my followers, and after reading it sent him a message both privately and publicly to hang in there.

I do this a lot; and some of you have received random messages and phone calls from me whenever I can or feel inclined to.

But more than anything it’s the comments from his friends that worried me; some mocked him, others experessed disappointment in his inability to “tough it out” and the worst were those who encouraged him to do it.
Only a few thought it wise to say kind words or try to reach out to him and encourage him not to.
For days I’ve montored his page and wondered about if he’s ok, got the help he needed and if he actually went through with it.
I even wondered how the friends who’d made fun of him would feel if he’d actually killed him self.
Well he did.
There’s so much we don’t understand about depression, mental health and the people who suffer through it; it’s easy for us to think them weak or stupid because we presume they’re just people not “tough enough” for this life.

But the truth is we all have those days when we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders, days when we’re unhappy for no reason, days when we feel like everyone’s against us, and days when we can’t even put into words how we feel.

Days like that all we need is someone to talk to, someone’s who’s willing to listen and if possible get us professional help.

People who commit suicide are just crying out for help and it’s up to us to hear their silent cry.
Unfortunately recent events have led me to believe that we’ve become a society that lacks empathy or an understanding of mental health. And because of this we sit by, make fun, humiliate and further kick people when they’re down.
Dear Kofi, I’m so sorry we didn’t hear you on time, I’m sorry on behalf of those that laughed at you, they didn’t know any better, and I’m sorry that you felt pushed to do this. May your death encourage us all to do better and look out for each other more.
Below are screen shots from comments I and others wrote on his wall leading up to his death.

** NOTE : Dear Dia is still open to all. I created it on my blog for people to share their stories or what they’re going through anonymously.

Just being able to share your story sometimes helps, and thankfully so many people leave kind words of support and in some cases professionals reach out to help. Send you story to contact@lydiaforson.com

Lydia Forson takes a swipe at critics for labeling her as a feminist https://www.adomonline.com/lydia-forson-takes-swipe-critics-labeling-feminist/ Thu, 22 Jun 2017 13:35:23 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=211751 Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson has taken swipes on critics for labeling her as a feminist. The actress educated her followers on feminism, detailing what feminism is, who should and should not be tagged as a feminist. She also advised her followers to stand for what is right and not what society thinks.

Read her article below;

Dear Feminist,
Let’s not fight those who don’t get us; especially those who continue to promote the stereotype that has followed the movement for years because of the actions of some and the misconception of others.

Instead let’s try to educate them, seeing that a lot of them don’t seem to know any better or what the word feminism even means.

If that doesn’t work IGNORE and save your energy for a fight that’s really worth it.

But here’s a little education for those needing it.

1. We don’t hate men, we just don’t like the abusive, oppressive and chauvinist type; we also don’t believe our world “should” revolve around them if we don’t want it to. (Honey if you want your world to revolve around your man, go right ahead knowing you did it by CHOICE).

2. We don’t hate marriage, we just don’t believe it’s a MUST for every woman, or there’s a timeline for when you should just to please society.

3. A lot of feminist are married and even stay at home. Author Malaka Grant is a wonderful mother of 4 a stay at home mom and one of the strongest feminist I know. Famed author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is equally married with a child. My sis Hajia-Xalia Qassim is equally a mother, wife and a strong feminist. **So where’s the proof that feminist hate marriage or never marry.

4. Feminism isn’t a word limited to only women, but men too. Because it’s all about the fight for equality irrespective of gender; if you’re a man and you believe this, you’re a feminist.

5. Feminism has no age, class or “look”. How you dress, the job you do, your lifestyle etc doesn’t determine if you’re more or less of a feminist. You can wear a mini skirt, a hijab or dress like a tomboy and still be a feminist.

Ultimately it’s about having the right to have a say in how we live our lives, what we do with our bodies etc regardless of how you may feel about it.

You don’t have to LIKE what we stand for, but you have to respect our right to do so.

On that note; listen ain’t no body got time to be fighting battles that will only exhaust and drain us, if you don’t want to be educated we’ll take a back seat, get some popcorn and watch you entertain us with your ignorance.

Even John Dumelo and Sammy Forson are single; why should I marry? – DKB https://www.adomonline.com/even-john-dumelo-sammy-forson-single-marry-dkb/ Sat, 06 May 2017 17:19:48 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=105831 King of Comedy, DKB, has disclosed that he will not marry until his role models in the showbiz industry finally decide to marry.

He says, he doesn’t see reason in preceding his role models as far as marriage is concerned, whiles these great personalities remain single.

“I started watching Patrice Amegashie, John [Gemen], Sammy Forson, John Dumelo and Lexis Bill at a very tender age but till now they are not married, I don’t see the need to rush into marriage if my Grandfather ain’t,” he said.

In an interview with ghanaweb.com, the comedian said it is time these persons took the “marriage thing” seriously as it’s been a long time coming.

He, however, hinted that he will want to marry a submissive and God fearing woman who will also be his number one critic when he finally makes the decision to marry.

As far as he is concerned, his marriage is no business for Ghanaians because even his “grandfathers” are still unmarried and yet don’t seem bothered.

“I want a woman who is God fearing, understanding and not the nagging type to marry, but since my grandfathers are still not married I don’t see why I should rush,” he added.
