The disagreement led to the locking of the party’s office in Fomena for four years, which adversely affected the day-to-day management of the party to the chagrin of NPP members and sympathizers.

Napo’s arbitration skills

But Dr Prempeh’s arbitration skills came to bear when he managed to bring the two feuding parties together when he visited Fomena to campaign for votes for Dr Mahamadu Bawumia on Friday morning.

Sources in the in-camera meeting said Dr Prempeh displayed maturity as he carefully listened to both parties, including the current and past executives of the party, who have been at loggerheads for four years.

Having listened to the concerns of the parties, the NPP vice presidential candidate then admonished them to forgive and forget about the past and rather unite and work together in the interest of the elephant family.

Napo said the NPP administration, led by President Akufo-Addo, has worked tirelessly over the last eight years to put the country on the path of prosperity so the party should retain power and sustain its good works.

He therefore told the feuding parties that the NPP anticipated victory can only happen in an atmosphere of peace and unity, so the party’s members should come together and campaign for the NPP.

Fomena NPP parliamentary candidate

Touching on the current happenings in the NPP in Fomena, Napo said the party’s decision to settle on the sitting independent MP for Fomena, Andrew Asiamah, as their parliamentary candidate for the 2024 polls, is appropriate.

He explained that Andrew Asiamah, despite getting to parliament as an independent candidate during the 2020 polls, has always supported and worked together with the NPP members in the August House.

In this regard, Napo said the party leadership after deliberations, decided that Andrew Asiamah, who traces his political roots in the NPP, should be allowed to contest the Fomena seat on the ticket of the NPP.

This decision, he said, will help bring back NPP members who left the party when Andrew Asiamah contested as an independent candidate to the party, thereby increasing the NPP votes in the constituency.

Napo, therefore, admonished the NPP members in Fomena to rally behind Andrew Asiamah so that he could win the Fomena parliamentary seat for the NPP to enable the party to control parliament with majority seats.

The NPP vice presidential candidate’s counsel touched the hearts of the two factions as they willingly agreed to bury the hatchet and rather work together for the party’s victory on December 7, 2024.

Former NPP chairman’s promise

After Napo’s remarks, the former Fomena NPP Constituency Chairman, Akwasi Nti, leader of one of the factions, who was in possession of the party office keys, quickly handed it to the party’s current executives.

Akwasi Nti, on behalf of his faction, said out of the respect they have for Napo, they have decided to forget about the past and work with every member of the party in Fomena to ensure massive electoral victory for the NPP.

The current NPP chairman’s assurance

Akwasi Adom, the sitting Fomena NPP Constituency Chairman, also called for peace and appealed for forgiveness from those he had wronged in the ongoing feud.

He also promised to lead a united NPP in Fomena before, during, and after the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, urging his party members to uphold hard work at all times.

Court issues warrant for the arrest of 4 NPP members https://www.adomonline.com/court-issues-warrant-for-the-arrest-of-4-npp-members/ Thu, 14 Apr 2022 18:55:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2104871 The Bekwai Circuit Court on Thursday, 14 April 2022 issued a bench warrant for the arrest of four members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fomena Constituency.

The four; Gilbert Oppong Akwasi, Michael Ankapong, Splash Yeboah and Isaac Agyei are alleged to have been part of aggrieved supporters in the Fomena Constituency who repainted the party’s offices in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) colours on Monday, 7 March 2022.

Some aggrieved supporters of the ruling party in the Fomena Constituency painted the Constituency’s offices with NDC colours.

The aggrieved supporters also affixed posters of the opposition NDC’s presidential candidate for the 2020 elections, John Mahama on the premises.

According to the group, the party was trying to impose on them, independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Fomena, Andrew Amoako Asiamah,  who left the party in 2020, leading to the riot.

Angry Fomena NPP members paint party office with NDC colours, Mahama’s posters https://www.adomonline.com/angry-fomena-npp-members-paint-party-office-with-ndc-colours-mahamas-posters/ Tue, 08 Mar 2022 11:48:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2088372 Some aggrieved members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fomena constituency in the Ashanti Region have protested against their executives.

The irate members painted the party’s office with the red, green and black colours of the opposition NDC as a protest against an attempt to impose the Independent MP, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, on them.

According to them, National Executive members of the NPP have signaled that Mr Asiamah, who doubles as the 2nd Deputy Speaker, will be made the next NPP parliamentary candidate, with a “no polling station elections” policy in the Fomena constituency.

Speaking to Issac K. Normanyo, Adom News correspondent, Emmanuel Domah, a member of the constituency’s communication team said they are displeased with Mr Asiamah for ditching the NPP to stand as an Independent Candidate.

He added that it is a disrespect on their part if the party executives recall the Fomena MP, after his show of ingratitude during the 2020 elections.

“When he announced his decision to go Independent, the then flagbearer, chiefs and other executives called on him to rescind, but he ignored all. He disrespected all these eminent people including the president and first gentleman of the land. Why should he be brought back? Is there no law in the party? The same law that sacked him is what we are still abiding by,” Mr Domah fumed.

Consequently, Mr Domah led the aggrieved members to paint the NPP office in the colours of the NDC, as well as smear the building with posters of NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.
