Addressing the incident, Aubynn pointed to a recurring pattern of such actions by the NPP, alleging that the party has been involved in similar acts of destruction ahead of the 2024 elections.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such actions. In the lead-up to Election 2024, the NPP was notorious for destroying our billboards. Now, they’re at it again in Ablekuma North, blatantly engaging in acts of destruction,” she stated.

The Ablekuma North parliamentary election results remain unannounced by the Electoral Commission (EC) due to alleged irregularities. Aubynn also criticized the commission for the constituency’s ongoing lack of representation in Parliament, calling it a failure of duty.

“For two months, the people of Ablekuma North have been denied representation in Parliament. This is an outright failure of duty,” she lamented.

She further warned that the NDC might retaliate if the provocations continue, holding the EC responsible for any potential unrest.

NPP, NDC ‘Thank You’ billboards at Dansoman Junction vandalised https://www.adomonline.com/npp-ndc-thank-you-billboards-at-dansoman-junction-vandalised/ Tue, 18 Feb 2025 12:50:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2505847 Billboards erected by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates for the Ablekuma North Constituency have been destroyed by party supporters amid ongoing electoral uncertainty.

The incident occurred last night at Dansoman Junction, following days of rising tension as both candidates continue to claim victory in the December 7 parliamentary elections.

The Electoral Commission has yet to declare an official winner due to alleged irregularities and discrepancies in the pink sheets.

Despite the uncertainty, both parties have erected billboards declaring themselves winners, fueling further tension in the constituency.

Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes as supporters of the two leading parties clashed, pulling down and defacing the billboards belonging to NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn and NPP’s Akua Afriyie.

Police have since been deployed to restore calm in the area, while residents express concern over the escalating political tension.

The Electoral Commission has urged both parties to remain calm as it works to address the concerns raised and finalize the results.

Ewurabena Aubynn vows to defend Ablekuma North election victory https://www.adomonline.com/ewurabena-aubynn-vows-to-defend-ablekuma-north-election-victory/ Mon, 10 Feb 2025 10:24:50 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2502558 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has firmly stated her determination to safeguard her electoral victory.

She insists that she legitimately won the 2024 parliamentary elections in the constituency and is prepared to take all necessary steps to ensure that her mandate is upheld.

Ms. Aubynn has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of conspiring with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to manipulate election results by fabricating pink sheets.

She also expressed strong opposition to the proposed electronic collation of results, arguing that the process must be transparent and fair.

“Remaining silent does not mean one is weak. If those in authority choose to fight, then I am ready to fight this battle as well,” she declared during a public gathering.

Her remarks were made during a vigil organized by NDC members and supporters on February 9, 2025, to protest the prolonged delay in announcing the parliamentary results for the constituency.

Clad in black, protesters assembled at the forecourt of the Kwashieman Chiefs Palace, using the event as an avenue to express their frustration over the electoral process and what they perceive as attempts to subvert the will of the people.

The delay in the collation process stems from an incident on January 17, 2025, when the process was abruptly suspended following alleged acts of vandalism.

Reports suggest that over 40 individuals, believed to be aligned with the NDC, stormed the collation centre at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the EC, forcibly disrupted proceedings, and caused damage to property, including doors and window louvre blades.

Despite the ongoing controversy, the Electoral Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding due process.

The Commission maintains that it remains an independent body and will follow the necessary legal procedures before officially declaring the results.

Ablekuma North: Why did you retrieve your goodies if you won? – NPP’s Akua Afriyie quizzed https://www.adomonline.com/ablekuma-north-why-did-you-retrieve-your-goodies-if-you-won-npps-akua-afriyie-quizzed/ Thu, 09 Jan 2025 11:05:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2491165 The Ablekuma North National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Ewurabena Aubynn, has said her opponent, New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Akua Afriyie, is aware she lost the 2024 election.

In an interview on Dwaso Nsem, Ewurabena alleged that Nana Akua’s defeat caused her to retrieve items she had distributed to constituents ahead of the December 7 election.

According to her, Nana Akua would not have taken such action if she had truly won the election as she claims.

“Someone who claims not to have lost—immediately after the declaration was made—you went back asking people to return items you shared, accusing them of not voting for you,” she stated.

Ewurabena further alleged that Akua Afriyie feels entitled, hence her refusal to concede defeat despite clearly losing.

Insisting that her opponent is playing manipulative games, Ewurabena Aubynn described the election period as one marred by aggression and underhand tactics.

You never respected NDC in Ablekuma North – Ewurabena Aubynn to Nana Akua Afriyie https://www.adomonline.com/you-never-respected-ndc-in-ablekuma-north-ewurabena-aubynn-to-nana-akua-afriyie/ Thu, 09 Jan 2025 10:44:07 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2491162 The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Ewurabena Aubynn, has criticised her opponent, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Akua Afriyie, over her behavior in the post-election period.

According to Ewurabena, Nana Akua never respected the NDC in the constituency because she never anticipated they could win the seat.

This posture, Ewurabena said, has made it difficult for the former MP to accept defeat in the tightly contested election.

“You see, you never respected and had no regard for us. You considered us as nobodies, but we were not worried. But the Lord Himself, who crowns kings, made us victorious.

This time around, the majority of voters in Ablekuma North voted for change, for development, and they voted massively for Ewurabena Aubynn,” she asserted.

Ewurabena made this statement on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem as tension continues to flare in the constituency over the parliamentary election results.

Although the Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to officially declare a winner due to ongoing disputes, both candidates are claiming victory.

‘I don’t want to call her a con woman, but we know her games’ – NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn jabs opponent https://www.adomonline.com/i-dont-want-to-call-her-a-con-woman-but-we-know-her-games-ndcs-ewurabena-aubynn-jabs-opponent/ Thu, 09 Jan 2025 06:26:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2491053 Tension has been running high in the Ablekuma North constituency as the winner of the parliamentary seat in the December 7 election is yet to be declared following another chaotic scene at the Electoral Commission (EC) office.

A dispute over the parliamentary election results led to a dramatic moment when a party official reportedly slammed a table during a heated exchange, triggering a physical altercation between supporters of opposing parties.

Speaking on PM Express on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Ewurabena Aubynn, accused her opponent, New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Akua Afriyie, of manipulating the process to hold on to power.

Ewurabena Aubynn, who claims victory in the tightly contested election, criticized her opponent’s actions and behavior during the campaign and post-election period.

“You know what, that woman—for want of a better word—I don’t want to call her a con woman, but we live in the constituency. She’s been with us for years, and we are familiar with her reluctance to accept defeat,” Aubynn stated.

She added that Afriyie’s alleged sense of entitlement and refusal to concede defeat were not new to residents of the constituency.

“She feels that sense of entitlement. If you followed our campaign, you’d realize how aggressive she was, even with the placement of signboards. She’s used to misbehaving. I wouldn’t take her commentary seriously,” Aubynn remarked.

Ewurabena Aubynn described the election period as one marred by aggression and underhanded tactics.

“She lost the election. Having served in Parliament previously, many constituents now seek change.

This time around, the majority of voters in Ablekuma North voted for change, for development, and they voted massively for His Excellency John Mahama and Ewurabena Aubynn,” she asserted.

Aubynn also accused Akua Afriyie of allegedly retrieving gifts she had distributed to constituents after realizing she was losing.

“If she claims she won, why did she go about the constituency taking back gifts and goodies she had given to entice voters in the first place?” she asked, adding, “At what point did she determine her victory by approximately 400 votes?”

The situation escalated when a party official from the NPP reportedly slammed the table of EC officials in protest. This act of aggression sparked chaos among party supporters, leading to a brief but intense physical altercation.

The EC has yet to release an official statement on the incident, but observers have called for calm and adherence to due process to resolve the dispute.

Ewurabena Aubynn emphasized that the election results reflect a clear desire for change in Ablekuma North.

“Ablekuma North has been under the NPP for 28 years. We need development. The electorate spoke loudly for change,” she said.

Although Akua Afriyie initially agreed to appear on the same show as her political opponent, she canceled at the last minute.

Election 2024: I’m a queen of development – NPP Ablekuma North PC [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/election-2024-im-a-queen-of-development-npp-ablekuma-north-pc-video/ Fri, 26 Apr 2024 19:33:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2386777

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ablekuma North Parliamentary Candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie, has described herself as the queen of development the constituency needs.

As a one-time Member of Parliament(MP), Nana Akua has said constituents can testify to her visible track record.

This according to her ranges from hospital projects, classroom blocks, scholarship scheme among others which constituents from all political divides have benefitted from.

She was speaking on Asempa FM’s Constituency Watch when the production crew stopped its train ahead of the December 7 election.

“I am a queen of development. I have a track record that the NDC cannot match. Hospitals, classrooms, and annual packages for teachers among others.

“Under the NDC, there was no furniture in the schools but as former MP, I provided for all the schools and lobbied for the construction of an 18-unit classroom block at Kwashieman which the MCE has seen to its completion,” she touted.

She expressed confidence that, she will emerge victorious as the grounds look fertile in her favour, adding she will complete her unfinished businesses.

But on the part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ewurabena Aubynn, 2024 is time for a new beginning in Ablekuma North.

She stated that, the NPP despite its dominance has done very little for the constituency.

Ewurabena therefore urged constituents to rally behind the NDC which has better policies and programmes to ensure the youth of Ghana are positioned at the forefront in their next government.
