The assembly says the directive has become necessary after the government secured a grant from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to construct a dual road linking the Santasi–Ahodwo roundabout to the Asokwa Interchange.

The affected include traders, mechanics, taxi operators, car dealers, squatters, and owners of temporary structures on the road.

In a press statement, the KMA emphasized that the evacuation is mandatory for all concerned individuals, urging them to comply accordingly.

“All affected persons are required to vacate the area no later than October 30, 2025, to make way for the commencement of a major road construction project,” it stated.

The Assembly also warned of forceful evictions if the affected occupants fail to duly follow the directive.

“Effective November 1, 2025, the KMA will undertake a forced eviction of any individual, businesses, or structures still occupying the designated stretch, to ensure the smooth execution of the project,” the statement added.

KMA urged full cooperation from the public to ensure timely completion of the road, which is expected to ease traffic congestion in the city.

The affected persons have been asked to contact the assembly for clarification and needed support for the evacuation.

Coronavirus: Evacuation out of the question for now https://www.adomonline.com/coronavirus-evacuation-out-of-the-question-for-now/ Thu, 13 Feb 2020 15:41:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1752825 The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has given reasons why government has not yet taken a decision on evacuating Ghanaians in China, especially those living in Coronavirus-hit area of Wuhan.

At press briefing organised by the Ministry of Health to give updates on the SARS 2, the official name given the virus by the World Health Organization (WHO), Director of Public Health, Dr Patrick Aboagye said Ghana had not yet taken the decision to evacuate Ghanaians from the virus-hit China.

He explained that the government’s decision was in line with the WHO’s advice on evacuation.

He cited the United States of America as an example of a country that had evacuated its citizens but noted that those evacuated were kept in a special area with “negative pressure” to prevent a possible spread of the virus, a system Ghana does not have.

He noted that the government was in close contact with the Ghanaian Embassy in China and Chinese authorities to ensure that Ghanaian citizens were given the needed assistance as well as being in touch with their families in Ghana.
