The writ of summons, which surfaced online on May 21, 2025, alleges that Nana Agradaa defamed Empress Gifty during a live broadcast on social media platforms, including Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, on May 13, 2025.

The claims in the writ state that Nana Agradaa accused Empress Gifty of being promiscuous, a zoophile, an adulterous wife involved with pastors, and other damaging allegations that have affected the singer’s reputation and career.

Empress Gifty’s legal team contends that the defamatory statements have caused widespread public ridicule, damaged her reputation, affected her children, and disrupted her international program scheduled for August 2025.

Consequently, Empress Gifty is seeking GH₵20 million in damages.

However, Nana Agradaa told Adom FM’s OPD show that she has not been officially served with any court documents.

She stated, “When someone sues another person in court, the person being sued needs to be handed over the writ of summons. As I speak to you, nobody has served me any court letter, so I don’t know the court summon you are talking about.”

She added that she only hears about the lawsuit through social media and stressed that she would only respond if properly served.

“If anybody has an issue with me, I stay at Weija in Accra. In law, you need to come serve me the writ of summons. Somebody can print out something and put it on social media for trends,” Nana Agradaa said.

She challenged Empress Gifty to serve the writ officially, saying, “If Empress has the guts to serve me the writ of summons, she is welcome.”

In a writ of summons sighted by myjoyonline.com, Empress Gifty is demanding 20 million cedis from the traditional priest-turned-pastor in damages.

According to the writ, the Plaintiff (Empress Gifty) says that on 13th May 2025, the Defendant (Nana Agradaa), who seems to have a disagreement with the Plaintiff’s husband (Hopeson Adorye), took to her social media handles (Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube) and in a live broadcast attacked the Plaintiff’s husband.

She further spoke the following words defamatory of the Plaintiff in Twi language, with its respective English translation stated below:

Twi: “wo tuutuuni yere no mpo wo bu no, wo yere odwamanfoo no mpo wo bu no, nkraman ne wo yere da tafri wo yere twe mu di sika bre wo.”

English: “You even respect your promiscuous wife, you respect even that wife of yours who is a prostitute, your wife flirts with dogs, dogs lick your wife’s vagina, that is how she makes money to cater for you.”

Twi: “osofoo biara a, obeto nsa afro wo yere ako alter, ne no da wo Office ha ansa na w’aba abeto dwom wo asenka agua so.”

English: “Pastors who invite your wife to sing have sexual intercourse with her in their offices before she mounts the pulpit to sing.”

Twi: “Woyere no, oyefo sene obiara, adwaman nti Asofoo ne no de da. wo agyae no, rebetaetae me.”

English: “You left your cheap prostitute wife that has sexual intercourse with pastors to attack me.”

Twi: “Wo nkwaseasem no a, wode lea wo yere kwasea no so no, Me nnye toy te se wo yere no, me nnyi me hwene te se wo yere, Wo yere no a, ne twe adane asofoo no bi chop bar bowl.”

English: “I’m not a toy like your wife, I have not repositioned my nose like your wife. Do not extend the foolish things you do to her to me. Your wife’s vagina has become a common eating bowl for some pastors.”

The writ further indicates that “in their natural and ordinary meaning, the words complained of in paragraph 9 were understood to mean that:

a) The Plaintiff is promiscuous and a prostitute.

b) The Plaintiff is a zoophile, who flirts with dogs to earn her money to cater for her husband.

c) The Plaintiff is an adulterous or an unchaste wife who has extramarital affairs with other men, and that most of her paramours are pastors.

d) Pastors who invite the Plaintiff to their programs have sexual intercourse with her in their offices before Plaintiff mounts the pulpit to sing.

e) The Plaintiff is an imbecile.

Empress Gifty (the Plaintiff) also avers that the live broadcast made by the Defendant afforded other social media bloggers the opportunity to take the feed to their followers contemporaneously.”

The ‘Watch Me’ singer says the defamatory words spoken and published by Nana Agradaa about her are on the internet worldwide and are being widely circulated on various news portals and social media platforms, in which the Plaintiff continues to be on the receiving end of severe and disdainful backlash.

She further indicates that the widespread effect of the Defendant’s words on the Plaintiff is that she has become the subject of discussion on media outlets locally and internationally, and this has affected her children, who are taunted and ridiculed by their mates in school.

The lawyers say, as a result of Nana Agradaa’s actions, the credit and reputation of Empress Gifty—both personal and public—have seriously been damaged and have brought same into public ridicule, scandal, odium, and contempt.

They also highlight that the Plaintiff, who is a brand ambassador to numerous companies, has suffered collateral damage.

Consequently, Empress’s lawyers aver that her international programme slated for August 2025 has been affected due to the words uttered by Nana Agradaa about her.

As a result of this, Empress Gifty is claiming against the Defendant the sum of Twenty Million Ghana Cedis (GHS20,000,000.00) for damages for slander and libel of Plaintiff by the Defendant.

She is also requesting an order of perpetual injunction to restrain the Defendant, her servants, agents, privies, assigns, howsoever, from publication of such words or any of them or similar words to that effect.

The gospel singer also wants an order for the Defendant to pull down all the videos, audios in which she spoke the words defamatory of the Plaintiff from all her social media handles.

In a post shared by Zionfelix on January 16, 2025, Mama Esther expressed in her tribute song how the sudden passing of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan, known as “Agaga,” has deeply affected her daughter, Empress Gifty.

Mama Esther also acknowledged the shock and sorrow felt by many, including church members and those within the creative arts community, following Agaga’s untimely death.

Empress Gifty had announced the loss of her mother on December 14, 2024, via social media.

Recently, Empress Gifty shared details about the funeral arrangements, revealing that her mother would be laid to rest on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Tema Community 8 school park.

She also invited sympathisers to join her in mourning as she bids her final farewell to her beloved mother.

While some have suggested the gospel minstrel’s vocal delivery and voice texture bear strong likeness to Kuami Eugene’s, Empress believes there is nothing wrong with that.

When she played guest to aKorfa on Joy FM‘s ‘Ignition’, she said it was deliberate for her to sound like Eugene on the record.

“Kuami Eugene did not sing anything in that song. It’s because I recorded in Kuami Eugene’s studio and Kuami Eugene had everything, he had already composed everything. He has the template when it comes to him.

So I said I didn’t want to sound like Empress. I wanted something different. So I did the backing, I did everything,” she told aKorfa.

She added that Kuami directed the whole recording process and she was humble to listen to him “because he carries something and if you want to tap into somebody’s blessing you need to humble yourself.”

When asked if it doesn’t take anything away from her, she replied: “nothing! I am here. That is ‘Watch Me’. I am here talking about ‘Watch Me’ so it doesn’t take anything. The most important thing is that Kuami wrote the song and I delivered,” she said.

She made this revelation and honoured Empress Gifty with a beautiful pencil portrait on Sunday, October 6 during her Royal Worship event held at Global Prayer Palace at Shiashie in Accra.

Recounting the troubling times in her life, Georgia Adjei said she had a surgery which affected her finances.

“Due to my surgery I was home and had only GH₵30 on me, the doctor had also told me not to go hungry. For this reason I decided to visit Kwadwo Dickson of Angel FM who is like a brother for some financial assistance. Upon reaching there I met Empress Gifty, who without knowing my situation asked that I wait for her, to my surprise, she gave me money, which saved and sustained me for one week,” she revealed.

According to her, “immediately I took the money, went to check on Kwadwo Dickson, unfortunately, I was told he had left and will not return at work that day, and what Empress Gifty gave me was used for transportation and buying of food stuffs which sustained me for a whole week.”

Georgia Adjei emotionally added that “Today, if I am alive today, God did it through Empress Gifty, I was hungry after my surgery and she came through for me. Empress Gifty did not know how much the money she gave me meant for me, it saved me.”

The ace gospel musician who would be 30 years in ministry this year said, considering what happened, she made a decision to surprise Empress Gifty anytime she turns up for her event.

Describing it as the most difficult challenge she has ever faced, Empress Gifty said the ordeal tested her faith like nothing else.

Recounting the incident in an interview on Accra FM, she explained that the accident left her unable to walk, forcing her to use a wheelchair.

In her desperation, her sister introduced her to a herbalist, hoping for some relief. However, things took a turn for the worse when, after her plane had an emergency landing, she completely lost her sight.

According to her, it started with blurred vision and by the time she returned home, everything had gone dark, causing her to be blind for about an entire month.

During that period, Empress Gifty revealed how she became fully dependent on others for her basic needs.

“They were bathing me, taking care of me completely. It was tough,” she said, adding that pastors came regularly to pray for her recovery.

Empress Gifty further shared how she made a covenant with God during this difficult time.

“I told God, if you give me back my legs and my eyes, I will give you all my praise and worship. That’s why today, I go extra hard for my work with God.”

She believes her recovery was nothing short of a miracle and remains committed to her promise to God.

“I invest heavily in my projects because I’ve seen the handwriting of God in my life. He had mercy on me and pulled me through.”

In a live feed, Empress Gifty shared her relief and joy, revealing that she had stayed awake all night praying for her husband’s release.

“I haven’t slept; I prayed all night for him to be bailed,” she said, expressing her deep concern and dedication.

Meanwhile, Hopeson Adorye also took the opportunity to criticize the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for his arrest.

“It is not a problem. By the time they realize they did a bad thing, it will be too late. No one can scare me,” he stated.

He continued that his arrest generated a buzz that gave out free publication to Alan Kyeremateng’s Movement of Change.

Nonetheless, the Dansoman Circuit Court granted GH₵20,000 bail to Hopeson Adorye, a leading member of Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, with two sureties, one of which must be justified.

This decision came during his appearance before Her Honour Alima Abdul El-Lawal Basit on Thursday after he was charged with the publication of false news.

His arrest and subsequent detention at the Ministries Police Station occurred on Wednesday after he honoured an invitation to the Police Headquarters to assist with an investigation.

The inquiry pertains to his claims that the ruling NPP used dynamites to scare voters in the Volta region ahead of the 2016 election. According to Adorye, these actions affected voter turnout as many residents fled for safety. The case has been adjourned to June 26, 2024.

In an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning on Tuesday, the musician shared mind-blowing expectations for the concert, which is slated for this April.

She indicated that she together with her team are all geared up to bedazzle Ghanaians with unlimited music and stage craft.

“I don’t even know, but I want to appear from under the land. For me, I add art to my ministrations so people always know that about Empress, and this year I’m just going to blow their minds. I’m going overboard, not the regular thing,” she noted.

Recently, gospel musicians, including Diana Asamoah and MOGMusic, captured attention with how they appeared at their concerts. The majority of music lovers were impressed with their organisation and craft.

But speaking on the show, Empress Gifty said she will surpass all of them with her TREC’24, claiming to be the pacesetter.

“I set the pace for the rest to follow.”

The concert is set to take place on Monday, April 1, and the ‘Awiey3 Pa’ hit-maker is well-prepared to host other musicians, including MOGMusic, Akesse Brempong, ACP Kofi Sarpong, and Kofi Owusu Peprah, amongst others, at Living Faith Ministries in Ashaley Botwe.

Empress, while addressing her fans in one of her usual Tiktok live videos, was sent an audio by an anonymous person, who alleged that her husband will die shortly after a meeting with an unnamed politician.

The informant added that, Hopeson now a member of Movement for Change will feel dizzy and become unresponsive, which will lead to his death.

The informant warned Empress Gifty to take her information seriously, even if she does not believe it, lest she becomes a widow just five years in her marriage.

The news crashed Empress Gifty, who made an appeal to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffu Dampare to help locate the informant for immediate action.

Empress has vowed to make an example of the informant for predicting doom for her marriage.

Should any predicament befall her husband, she asked the police to hold the informant responsible.

The party revoked Hopeson Adorye’s membership, together with three others, for going against its constitution by openly supporting Alan Kyerematen, an independent presidential aspirant.

Though he has accepted his fate and forfeited his membership with the Movement for Change, his wife said NPP was not fair to her husband.

Empress Gifty cautioned NPP to be careful who they push away, as real ones will not return to their vomit.

She added that, betrayal comes in many forms but the man who understands the timing of Elohim shall dance in the middle of the storm.

The gospel singer remains optimistic that the challenging times would soon pass and the God of possibilities will give them a deserving end.

Now famous for her soul-touching songs, the gospel musician talked about her early days when she was helping out at her mum’s friend’s house.

According to her, she had a strong love for music, but it didn’t match up with the demands of her job. She further explained that her need to go for music practice clashed with what she was expected to do at home.

In an interview with host Andy Dosty, she said, “Music was in my blood, but my duties at the house made it hard. The lady I was helping didn’t understand my dedication to my music dreams.”

Looking back at that turning point, Empress Gifty decided to leave her house help role behind because she wanted to fully embrace her music dreams and also explore the exciting world of fashion.

“I had to make a tough choice,” she explained. “I had to say goodbye to being a house help and say hello to a world where I could live my music and fashion dreams.”

With her mum’s unwavering support, she moved from helping at home to working alongside her mum at the market, which gave her a chance to follow her passion for fashion.

“My mother then asked me to come and help her at the market, so she can get me money to go into fashion designing. I had to switch… me being a maid doesn’t say it all that God was not with me. But it was a process that God will give me an unexpected end and God has been faithful to me,” she said in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

“I don’t brag, I say what I have and that’s not bragging,” she said.

Working as a maid some years back to becoming one of the most accomplished gospel musicians in Ghana, Empress Gifty is confident of God’s hand in her life.

Gracing the studios of Adom TV for Wednesday’s edition of Badwam Ahosepe, Empress Gifty recounted the time she was given out as a maid to one of her mother’s friends when hardship bit her family very hard.

What she thought would be a pleasurable stay owing to the friendship between her mother and her new madam was not to be, rather, she was subjected to ill treatment.

It was in the period when she had discovered her musical prowess, but because her employer did not understand the element of her divine gift, she always nagged.

“She [my madam] did not understand the spiritual calling and she was always complaining. If I start singing, she’ll say I’m making noise. She will prevent me from going for church services, camp meetings and rehearsals.”

Empress Gifty continued that she lost interest in the job but her financially handicapped mother urged her to persevere, but that lasted for a short while.

Her breakthrough came in music and she described as enchanting the feeling she got when she first appeared on television.

“The first time I appeared on TV, she [madam] saw me and called me right after. She was so shocked that I was making it in life,” Empress Gifty recounted with a voice chocked with emotion.

The testimony is in line with her new song which she is currently promoting.

Titled ‘Ewiaye Pa’, Empress composed the song for all who are waiting for an expected end.

She further noted that her act of benevolence is inspired by scripture Psalms 82:3, which says that “you must help poor people and those with no family to receive justice. Help those who have pain and trouble to receive the help that they need.”

According to her, their four years marital journey has been nothing short of joy, peace and fulfilment, something she says really means a lot to her.

In a video on social media, Mrs Adorye stated she cannot fathom how her husband found her worthy despite several criticisms and allegations from people.

She noted she is currently enjoying a peaceful life – thanks to her husband, who she described as a good man.

A month after she lost both relations weeks apart, a funeral service has been held for the deceased at the Kowado Park in New Takoradi.

While filing past the mortal remains of 90-year-old Obaapanyin Mary Donkor and her sister, Mrs Juliana Annan, 49, Empress Gifty was captured sobbing.

Despite attempts by actress Tracey Boakye and some relatives to calm her down, Empress was still in a sorrowful mood.

She, however, managed to perform to the sympathisers with the help of other gospel musicians.

The musician has taken to social media to mourn the death of her grandmother she identified as Obaapanyin Mary Donkor and her sister, Justina Tetteh Ekua Annan.

Though details of the death remain sketchy, Empress Gifty shared an obituary of the duo whose funeral rites have been scheduled for October 14 to October 16, 2022, at New Takoradi.

Sharing the news with fans and followers on Instagram, she wrote: God why. I lost my grandmother and my sister eiiii.

Her announcement has welcomed commiseration messages from followers who have sighted her post.

The musician will now serve with the stool name Chief Ugonma Empress Gifty.

The King of the Igbo community in Ghana, His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr) AMB Chukwudi J. Ihenetu and his people bestowed the honour on the singer on Sunday.

The ceremony was also to commemorate a decade of Dr Chukwudi’s reign as king of the community.

This was in a colourful ceremony of rich Nigerian culture with her husband, Hopeson Adorye and scores of well-wishers in attendance.

Empress Gifty, following the coronation, expressed gratitude to the King and the people of the Igbo Community in Ghana and pledged commitment to work for the growth of the African continent at large.

“This honour by extension would deepen the cultural and economic ties between Ghana and Nigeria. For this reason,  I would avail myself for this cause,  because we stand to gain a lot by working together as Africans,” she acknowledged.

Speaking in a yet-to-air episode of E Vibes, the group recalled a prophecy by a man of God called Pastor Osei.

“Pastor Osei, then Gifty Osei’s ex-husband… told us that we will go through hell but we will break through and will become one of the strongest groups Ghana will ever have.”

They told the host Becky that the preacher said “from now to the next 10 years we will be reigning and we will never go down.”

Keche revealed that everything the man of God said about their career 10 years back has manifested in their lives.

The duo rose to fame with their debut album Pressure in 2008. They have multiple nominations to their credit and their song Sokode topped several music charts across the African continent.

They are also known for the songs Aluguntugui, Diabetes, Pressure, among others. In 2011, the group was recognized as Global Ambassadors for Peace by the then Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Following that, the group also performed at the UN Peace concert in Monrovia, Liberia in 2014, which gave the group recognition across Africa.

Her friends, who were once everything to her, backstabbed her to the extent her marriage was destroyed and she lost her inner peace.

Unbeknownst of their evil intentions towards her, she said she was briefing them on every detail of her life, and at times, offered them money and other valuables.

However, she got to know of their true colours when the woes in her life began unfolding.

“I am very scared of humans. I have had a lot of experiences so now I choose my friends because I don’t want anyone to be a burden to me. I took some people as family but it ended bitterly. Can you imagine you step out with someone you call a friend, and on your blind side, there is an issue with your outfit? Rather than telling me, she phoned my husband at home and complained that a married woman of my calibre stepped out looking bad.”

She told host Emelia Brobbey during the Okukuseku show that some of her close friends even told the secret she shared to others and they altogether mocked her.

To her, her colleagues in the gospel music industry are no better. Aside backstabbing, she said they take it upon themselves to ruin gigs she suffered to secure.

“I billed someone from Nigeria to Ghana for a show and after she had arrived, she had a call from another singer enquiring why of all the musicians she agreed to me. This is something that happened about a month ago,” she said.

Empress Gifty also pointed fingers at her spiritual family, disclosing how they used her situation for preaching in a manner that brought shame to her.

“I told my heartfelt issues to some people and when my marriage hit rock bottom, they used my issue as a theme of their preaching. They sold me out in the highest level,” she added.

At the time when she was facing constant betrayals, the Eye Woa crooner said she cried unto the Heavens and begged God for a revenge.

True to her prayer, she said God revealed the sources of her woes as the backstabbers began fighting each other.

She said “2012 in Canada, June 4, God answered my prayers. All my betrayers have had their fair share of my pain. Some people have started begging me. A blogger called me to confess he has been writing hate comments on all my posts per the orders of one of my close friends and her husband. He was paid to insult me but now he wants to seek my forgiveness.”

Based on her bitter experiences, she has reached the conclusion that secrets are better kept hidden and she would choose loneliness to being in the company of two-faced enemies.

Ironically, Empress Gifty is grateful for all her tribulations as they have made her a better and observant person.

These are the words that made tears trickle down the cheeks of gospel musician Empress Gifty during an interview on Adom TV’s Okukuseku with Emelia Brobbey.

The artiste was detailing her financial struggles during her early stages and how her mother’s sacrifices played an instrumental role in her life.

Caring for six children; two females and four males, life was far from rosy for the Oppong family, especially Mama Agnes.

Empress Gifty and her mother had to engage in menial jobs including hawking cassava, eggs and seasonal fruits, yet the sales were too meager to give them a life of luxury.

“Everyone in Tema Community 1 knew my mother as the popular egg seller. She later upgraded to selling cassava and other food items. She’s sold yooyi, alansa, and every fruit that was in season. Anytime I returned from school, I had to hawk some too,” she recounted.

Unlike every child who loves the yuletides, Christmas season was a pain to Empress Gifty as she had no clothes to wear to the special church service, and once again, her mother would have to trade her valuables to acquire a dress for her children.

“I remember one fateful Christmas when I had no dress, my mother soaked cassava for me to hawk to get money to buy fabric. She did everything to make sure I went for the special church service.

“Even when I graduated from school, I was required to wear a white outfit, but I did not have. My mother had to borrow my grandmother’s dress and alterate it to my size. I saw my mum dong all these things for me and she went the extreme all the time,” she said amid tears.

Empress Gifty added that her mother had to quit church because they were objects of mockery, however, she never for once blamed them for her struggles or maltreat them.

It is for these reasons Empress Gifty said she would not trade her mother for anything in this world, and she will continue to flaunt her at every given opportunity.

Empress Gifty’s maternal grandmother, better known as Life Owner died on Thursday, June 24,2022.

In an Instagram post announcing the unfortunate incident, Empress Gifty said the deceased was her source of joy and the inspiration behind her flashy lifestyle.

She posted a video she took with her grandma during her last trip to Takoradi for a visit.

Several female celebrities in Ghana have been accused of either going under the knife or employing hip pads to look curvaceous, of which Empress Gifty is inclusive.

Reacting to the saga on her Empress Gifty show, the musician said she sees no wrong in the use of hip pads or whatsoever anyone wants to do with her body.

To her, all forms of physical modification are just to boost confidence.

She described as uncouth and primitive some persons who go the extreme length of chastising women who wear hip pads.

“How can you look at someone and even think of her nakedness to conclude that she is wearing a hip pad? It’s just like wearing pant or boxers. If you cant speak on your pant, then hip pad is also a no go area.”

The musician took to her Instagram page to share the good news with her fans and followers.

Gifty wrote: I am honoured to be selected as one of the Ambassadors to champion of terrorism awareness campaign in Ghana. See something say something is every Ghanaian responsibility to safeguard the security of your community. Call 999.

The aim of this campaign is to get citizens highly alert and report suspicious characters in the wake of terror alert by security analysts.

It is part of the operational strategy and collaborative efforts between security agencies and the citizens to safeguard the borders of the country.

A toll-free number, 999 has been launched for the purpose of the campaign for citizens to report suspected cases of terrorism.

According to her, most of bridesmaids are “wickedly envious of what you have”.

This post by the gospel musician has stirred controversy on social media.

Many wondered whether her post is out of experience after she shared a photo of her bridesmaids at her wedding in December 2018.

The Resurrection Effect Concert (TREC 2022) which took place at the Junction Mall in Accra did not only leave many Christians spiritually filled, but in awe due to the creativity Empress Gifty displayed.

The gospel act made a grand entry in a well-decorated globe-shaped tomb, to signify the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Empress Gifty also featured doves in her stage craft which is a representation of the Holy Spirit.

Under the theme: ‘The Essence of the Empty Tomb’, some powerful gospel ministers including Jak Alolome, Eric Jehurun and from Nigeria, Okopi Peterson, gave electrifying performances at the event.

The event was graced by A-list personalities including Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen who described the concert as a “world class show”.

Aside her husband, she said her children also help improve her English language.

“My eldest daughter grooms me; when I go for interviews, she listens and corrects my mistakes” Empress Gifty added.

The latest to share thoughts on the matter is Empress Gifty, who has cautioned victims of domestic violence to flee abusive relationships.

Empress Gifty, who was talking to host of ‘Drivetime on Joy’, Kofi Hayford, on Friday April 15, 2022, said no one should massage abuse in relationships.

“I have come to a point in life that I will never advise any young woman [or man], to stay in a marriage that you’re being abused in…you will die before your time”.

Prior to citing societal pressure as catalyst for enduring abusive marriages, the gospel singer also noted that the culprits deceive victims by showing remorse, and in some cases, attribute it to the devil.

But Empress Gifty says “the devil has no idea of that beating. In fact he is busy somewhere.

“I am telling them they should run away [from abusive relationships]”, adding that Osinachi lacked the self-confidence to walk out of her marriage.

On Friday, April 8, news broke about the demise of Nigerian gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, after being hospitalised for a few days.

Reports further suggested that she was abused and brutalised by her husband, leading to the unfortunate passing.

The ‘Odiyompo’ singer made the assertion on the Good Friday edition of ‘Drivetime on Joy’ on Friday, April 15, 2022.

She told host, Kofi Hayford, that she is a game-changer, confirming a non-conformist status.

Empress Gifty further reacted to the assertion that she’s a gospel artiste of a kind, who colleagues find difficult to align themselves with.

“They shouldn’t [be familiar with my path], I have to show them the way, I am their class prefect,” she claimed.

According to her, she endeavours to be different and thus possesses different goals.

“The focus is the Grammys…but my colleagues fail to understand my vision,” Empress Gifty revealed.

Empress Gifty said she can’t be bothered by naysayers, especially as she has taken a cue from moments when many ridiculed her for using Facebook live, as well as staying active on Instagram, as a gospel artiste.

Many have tagged her ‘too flashy’ to be a gospel musician, basically spelling out that she is more of a secular artiste than a typical gospel artiste.

However, she rubbished the claim, explaining that she refuses to live a life of hypocrisy, contrary to expectations.

Empress Gifty is expected to hold her annual concert dubbed, ‘The Ressurection Effect Conncert’ at Nungua on May 1, this year, during which a host of other musicians will join her in song ministration.

The Aseda hitmaker, who has spent over a decade in the Ghanaian music sphere, shared a few motivational words with her fans in light of her life.

According to her, she reached out to Empress Gifty after seeing publications that suggested that she dissed her with the comments she made on Adom FM, because it was in reference to a claim by the former that her latest music video cost that much.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Celestine Donkor explained that, “so no offence to anyone, Gifty and me, we chat, we are cool. What I can promise everyone is that whatever I will do to make sure that my intentions about Gifty are known to her, I would do it behind the scenes. And I will make ensure that this would never bring enmity between us, I will make sure of it.”

This comes after Empress Gifty claimed she spent about $40,000 on her newly released music video for her song ‘Eyɛ Woa’.

According to her, she and her team are always striving to put out quality work, and this urge usually overrides concerns for money.

In February, Celestine Donkor was asked in an interview if she would spend the same amount of money on a music video. She replied she would use the money to rather invest in a rice business. 

Celestine Donkor believes she would get more money selling and importing rice than spending that much money on a music video.

But, reacting to the backlash, the ‘Agbebolo’ hitmaker noted that she had no idea that Empress Gifty was the artiste that made those claims.

She explained that she took the question as a general one and answered with no malice intended.

She stated that “I was shocked but I understood why the headlines were like that, because those ones knew that Gifty had said that earlier. I didn’t know, so I did a video to say that I have nothing against Gifty.”

According to her, she wouldn’t have been active in the music sphere if not for the freedom that her husband, Mr Hopeson Adorye gives her.

She explained that, unlike her past relationships where she was being monitored and tracked by her exes, Mr Hopeson gives her the ultimate space she needs to concentrate on her craft.

In an interview on Asempa FM‘s weekend entertainment show dubbed Tete a Tete, the gospel veteran said her freedom ticket has gone a long way to add up to her physical beauty.

Because I have my freedom; freedom to operate in any area. I don’t have anyone asking me ‘where are you?’ or accuse me saying ‘the place is quite’ or others such as ‘I want to see you on video call’. Its been a while I heard that, she told host Kweku Adu Kumi.

Talking further, Empress Gifty asked her followers to understand that celebrities also go through relationship problems and such issues could affect their craft.

The couple married privately in Tema on December 28, 2019, making Gifty a wife for the second time after her over 10 years marital relationship with Prophet Prince Elisha Osei turned sour.

The gospel artiste had denied being in a relationship with her now-husband until their marriage was made public.

While he never addressed such rumours, his wife indirectly debunked such claims and affirmed that she remains the only Mrs Adorye there is.

Ghana Music Awards-USA is a people’s choice annual awards program aimed at awarding and recognizing our most influential and iconic musicians both in Ghana and the diaspora, especially in the United States of America.

Nominees will be announced on April 16, 2022 at the Grand Roosevelt Ballroom at 2 Hudson Street Yonkers, New York and the main event is scheduled to take place on August 20, 2022 at the Lincoln Theater USA.

According to her, people should support gospel musicians financially whenever they are launching their songs for this will go a long way in making the songs trend.

“If we want this whole song to go far, it’s all about money, not God bless you, it is cash,” she said.

Speaking on Joy Entertainment, Empress Gifty urged all and sundry to support gospel musicians more as exhibited by the secular musicians whenever a colleague is launching a song.

“Let’s put in so much because when you go to the secular events when they are doing their EP launch, you will see one person will just get up and promise to support with maybe 3,000 or 5,000 dollars,” she stressed.

“But when it comes to gospel, everybody wants to sit down, fold his or her arms, and be watching you,” she added.

She also mentioned that the resources employed in producing the songs attract a huge amount of money, hence the need for support to enable them to go the extra mile in the music industry.

“Everything that we are doing, the craft, the creativity is all about money. So, if we want this song to go far, I beg everybody, after you posting, liking, and sharing, streaming, watching the video, please send her momo, let her send you the bank account so that you can put something into it so that she can do more,” she noted.

In a latest interview, the singer who is promoting her latest music video dubbed Eye Woa said she spent a budget of $40,000 USD on her scenic visuals.

According to her, she is putting the details out to show how far she can go to beautify her craft.

She explained that her team could easily afford a $40,000 USD budgeted music video unlike other musicians who may struggle to achieve such targets.

Meanwhile, in 2 weeks, the Eye Woa music video has garnered close to 300,000 views on the video-streaming platform, YouTube.

According to her, Nigerian gospel musicians fail to support or promote Ghanaian gospel music in their country.

“When was the last time a gospel act in Ghana headlined a show in Nigeria? If I can recall… I only saw Celestine Donkor going to Nigeria for a show last two months… but I want to ask, how we treat them is that the same way they treat us?” she queried.

Empress Gifty as she is popularly called bemoaned how Nigerian gospel musicians are pampered in Ghana but Ghanaian gospel musicians do not receive the same treatment when in Nigeria.

Her comment comes to corroborate a similar concern raised by Shatta Wale.

Empress Gifty disclosed that, most of the popular Nigerian gospel musician don’t share the flyers of the events they are billed to perform until they in Ghana.

In a video sighted by Adomonline.com, Empress Gifty doff her hat for Shatta Wale for standing up for Ghana music.

“Which gospel act can say they have met another gospel act in Nigeria for a radio tour. Even when they come to Ghana , some of them don’t want to even take pics with us… a day before they come to Ghana is when they will post the show on Instagram… I am addressing the same issue Shatta Wale said with no insults but facts” she added.

Empress Gifty went wild and rained insults on a netizen who called her an ‘unrighteous Christian and a slay queen’ during her live video session.

While the songstress was addressing a topic unrelated to fashion, the troll chipped in her comment, suggesting the lifestyle of Empress Gifty does not depict one who is winning souls for God.

The comment angered the musician, especially as she had faced backlash in previous years for donning fitting wear and coloured hair.

Without mincing words, the Obia Nse Wo composer described the troll as a block-headed person with misplaced priorities.

She further educated the troll on her true meaning of a slay queen; someone who is full of confidence and fire and dresses as such.

According to Empress Gifty, the troll’s inability to notice her outfits are for advertising purposes is evident that she is speaking from the depth of poverty.

Speaking on the ‘unrighteous’ tag, Empress Gifty admitted she is a sinner, and that is the reason she tries her best to uphold Christianity.

She further went on to send a word of caution to her critics not to direct their attention to her, as she has decided to hit back in full force.

According to her, she has about 987k followers who love what she does and attest to the fact that she has won the 4syte Best Gospel Video award and won the Best Gospel Video award at the National Gospel Music Awards.

She explained that her songs have blessed her ministry and Ghana music at large.

“I won 4syte Best Gospel Video award and also National Gospel Awards we won the same. So, this song has blessed my ministry and Ghana as well,” she noted.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, she made it known to the host, Andy Dosty, that her fashion sense forms part of the brand she’s building.

“It is part of the branding and then to do something for God, I make sure I do it and I do it well. That is Empress, from my hair to my toe, I make sure I come out so clean and beautiful and decent as well,” she said.

She also mentioned that those who talk about her fashion sense, regardless if it is positive or negative, love it that is why they talk about it.

She further stated that she serves as a brand influencer for almost eight companies and these companies are responsible for her accessories and wardrobe.

According to her, her husband is a grown-up man and has been in politics long before they met so she cannot advise him to completely stop some of his gestures on social media.

My husband is a politician and he has done this for years. I cannot use three years to change him. I can only advise and direct him. I speak to him in a lovely way to correct his wrongs and that works. He has been in the industry for that long and I am a gospel musician so I only pray for him, she said.

The politician, over the past few months, inundated social media after he vowed to deport Twene Jonas for speaking against the New Patriotic Party and also for insulting leaders in the country.

Mr Adorye confirmed he was part of a government delegation to the US and had taken his free time to go and see where Twene Jonas famously did his Facebook Live sessions from but unfortunately he couldn’t find him.

The politician also said he had reported Twene Jonas to the rightful authorities since his visa had allegedly expired for him to live in the states.

Reacting to this, Empress Gifty said she was well informed on the matter because her husband called her right after he made his intentions clear in a video on social media.

According to the Jesus Over Do singer, she talked to her husband detailing what he did wrong and right in the Twene Jonas brouhaha.

He called me after the video. Within five minutes, I saw everything going round. He asked if it was worrying me and I said no. He was okay about trending and I sat him down to tell him where he was right and wrong, she said.

Meanwhile, Empress Gifty is currently promoting her new song dubbed: ‘Eye Woa’.

Empress Gifty went makeup-free, and without any hair extension to send an early birthday message to her politician husband, Hopeson Adorye, as he marks his birthday.

She teased that she is showing her ‘raw’ self after spending the night with the 51-year-old as his legally wedded wife.

This would be one of the few times she has been spotted without the usual embelishment.

Empress Gifty is known to be a lover of fashion including luxurious hairstyle and makeup.

Her fans have, however, appreciated and fantasized her beauty as many encourage her to be bold enough to make it her habit of stepping out in her raw self.

According to her, unless a man makes up his mind to marry a woman, there is nothing that can convince him to do otherwise even if it involves a baby.

She directed her words of wisdom towards single women who wish to use pregnancy as a bait to secure men in their lives.

No woman should say someone has given birth for a man so she is also thinking of doing the same. Especially the ‘side chics’…

You cannot keep a man with pregnancy. I know a woman who wanted to give birth to a boy for her husband because she had four females… eventually, the man’s side girl gave birth to a boy for him but he went ahead to forget her.

According to the gospel musician, she would rather advise women to work hard and cater for themselves than rely on a man to project their future.
