Thief electrocuted in attempt to steal high tension cable

A suspected thief whose identity is immediately unknown has met his death during a failed operation at Wirenkyiren Amanfrom, a town in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred late in the evening when the suspected thief attempted to climb a transformer to steal high tension cables.

However, the suspect reportedly touched a naked wire which electrocuted him, leading him to fall off the transformer.

He was discovered by some residents plying the bushy road around 1:00 am battling for his life.

The residents immediately alerted the authorities and paramedics, but due to the delays in arrival, the suspected thief could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:00 am.

The police have launched an investigation to identify the suspect and determine the circumstances surrounding the failed theft operation.

The body has been retrieved by the Kyebi police command and deposited at the mortuary for preservation.

Some residents who spoke to the media remarked that Wirenkyiren Amanfrom is a theft prone area and they are constantly harassed by thieves.

24-year-old driver’s mate, Kofi Kakra has been electrocuted after climbing a high-tension at Galilea near Kasoa in the Ga south Municipality of the Greater Accra.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told Adom News they have no clue why he climbed the high-tension.

Efforts by the Weija Division Police and others to convince him to descend the tension yielded no results.

The deceased died at the spot after coming into contact with one of the power lines which sparked flames.

Meanwhile, the Asoafoakye of Galilea, Asoafoakye Namoale expressed shocked after seeing the man climbing the high-tension pole.

A middle-aged man suspected to be a thief has been electrocuted while trying to steal a transformer in Abuja, Nigeria.

His lifeless body of the man in green shirts and black trousers was spotted dangling on a transformer along the Dawaki-Sokale road, Dutse.

Reacting to his death, social media users have ironically applauded the suspected thief for being brave enough to steal a high voltage transformer.

”He died a brave man, I admire his guts! A whole high tension is a man that’s where you went to steal,” one of them said

An apprentice electrician resident at Obogu in the Asante-Akyem South District of the Ashanti region was electrocuted on Saturday while trying to tap power for the funeral of a resident.
According to eyewitnesses, the apprentice electrician was connecting power from the national grid to enable a live band play at the funeral of a late resident, Auntie Ataa, since the current in the town was too low.
No sooner had he climbed the light pole than he was seen dangling lifeless, with his legs held up by straps he used to climb up.
A number of young men managed to bring the body down.

Two electrocuted after heavy rains in Sekondi-Takoradi

Two persons including a pupil were electrocuted on Tuesday evening after a 30-minute downpour in the Western Region twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi.

According to 3news, several properties running into thousands of Ghana Cedis have been destroyed. Structures at the Effiakuma police barracks were completely destroyed, rendering many officers homeless.

“One police officer got hurt and has since been rushed to the hospital,” our reporter said. The pupil, who was electrocuted, died on the spot while the other, a middle-aged lady, is said to be responding to treatment at the Takoradi SDA Clinic.

Meanwhile, the Western Region Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (Nadmo), Japheth Baidoo, says they have run out of relief items. He, however, assured that talks are ongoing with headquarters in Accra for immediate dispatch of items for victims.
