The Timber Giants will be making their maiden appearance in the prestigious CAF inter-club competition after winning the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title under Nurudeen Amadu.

Addressing the players at their camping base at Safari Valley in the Eastern region, Dr Nsenkyire emphasized the importance of a unified and multifaceted effort, where each player brings their unique strengths and skills to the table to strive for excellence and make a lasting impact.

“Lads, we cannot let Ghana and our supporters down so let’s put in a prismatic fight to hoist the flag of Ghana in a remarkable way,” he said.

“Let’s bring our individual abilities to the table to write a very good story for ourselves,” Dr Nsenkyire added.

The Green and White lads will play as a guest to Victoria United FC in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League in Cameroon before hosting them at the Accra Sports Stadium for the second leg.

The preliminary round, scheduled for August, promises an exciting start for Samartex, with the winner advancing to meet either ASGNN of Niger or Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic in September’s second round.

Samartex aims to make a mark in their debut Champions League campaign and views the upcoming matches as an opportunity to showcase their prowess on the continental stage.

Dr Nsenkyire made this remark after his side won the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season with two games to end the campaign.

The Samreboi-based were confirmed champions following a 1-0 win over Bibiani Gold Stars over the weekend.

The team won 18 matches, lost 10, and drew 4 out of the 32 games played so far, showcasing their dominance in the league.

Reacting to their triumph, Dr Richard Duah Nsenkyire suggested that the Ghana Premier League needs more financial investment to thrive.

“For me, I have a lot of hope for the future of Ghana. The league is becoming competitive,” he said on Asempa FM‘s Ultimate Sports Show.

“What we need more now is financial support and good infrastructure and the boys can play football on,” he added.

FC Samartex will be hosted by Karela United at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex before wrapping up their campaign against Accra Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex.

With two games to end the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Samartex have won the top flight for the first time in their history with 58 points.

They were declared champions following their 1-0 win over Bibiani Gold Stars in the Matchday 32 games on Sunday at the Nsenkyire Sports Stadium.

Speaking on Asempa FM‘s Ultimate Sports Show, Dr Nsenkyire said they were confident of annexing the title due to the preparations before the start of the season.

FC Samartex will travel to Karela United in the Matchday 33 games before wrapping up their campaign with a home game against Accra Lions.
