Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV, Dr. Kissi compared Dr. Bawumia to the biblical Jonah, who had to be thrown overboard to save a sinking ship.

“It is not just about one individual. When it happened that Jonah had to be removed from the ship to save the ship, it happened, and it gets to a point in time when you need to remove any Jonah who is sinking the ship,” he explained.

Responding to suggestions that NPP delegates in the Greater Accra Region have already thrown their support behind Dr. Bawumia instead of Bryan Acheampong, he argued that the former’s performance in the previous primaries and general election indicates a loss of confidence among party members in the region.

“I didn’t really want to go there, but in the last primaries, he underperformed in Greater Accra, and in Greater Accra, we won only two in the presidency out of the 34.

“Greater Accra is not very responsive to him like they are responding to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and that one is not me; it’s the euphoria I am accessing from behind,” he said.

Dr. Adomako Kissi added that the NPP’s poor performance in the last presidential election should serve as a wake-up call for a leadership change, drawing a comparison to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which replaced Haruna Iddrisu with Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minority Leader.

“The party deficit requires that we make a radical change, and it is not about the individuals. Let me commend the NDC—when they realised they had to remove Haruna Iddrisu to win the Central Region, they did it. Haruna Iddrisu is a colossal figure. The NDC moved him from Parliament as a leader so that they could win the Central Region,” he said.

GoldBod is complicit, compromised in galamsey fight – Adomako Kissi https://www.adomonline.com/goldbod-is-complicit-compromised-in-galamsey-fight-adomako-kissi/ Tue, 07 Oct 2025 11:52:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2586081 Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has accused the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) of being complicit in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, alleging that the board purchases gold from both legal and illegal sources.

In an interview on Channel One TV, Dr. Adomako claimed that the GoldBod, under the leadership of Sammy Gyamfi, buys gold from “whichever criminal” offers it, thereby making the institution part of the galamsey problem.

“What Goldbod has is a huge amount from both small-scale mining and illegal mining, and he (Sammy Gyamfi) can’t argue anything because he is clueless as to where he is grabbing. He is grabbing from whichever criminal is bringing him gold; that is the situation.

“As it stands now, if someone buys a machine from a thief, the police can still arrest the person for purchasing a stolen item, and he won’t go scot-free; the laws won’t allow him to go scot-free. Once you’re a complicit and I can say today on authority that Goldbod is complicit in the galamsey fight, and they are compromised,” he alleged.

Dr. Adomako further urged GoldBod to implement strict measures to trace the sources of the gold they purchase.

“As it stands now, even potatoes in Europe, you can track it to the farm where it is produced, why can’t we track our gold to the site, and I demand that Goldbod put in measures to track where the gold is coming from,” he said.

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) was established by an Act of Parliament (Act 1140) in 2025 as a corporate body responsible for regulating, overseeing, and conducting activities related to the buying, selling, assaying, refining, and exporting of gold and other precious minerals in Ghana.

People were against me because of Alan Kyerematen – NPP MP https://www.adomonline.com/people-were-against-me-because-of-alan-kyerematen-anyaa-mp/ Wed, 24 Jan 2024 19:35:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2346399 Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi has revealed that some members of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) were against him when he supported Alan Kyerematen’s presidential bid.

Alan Kyerematen on September 25, 2023, resigned from NPP and decided to contest the 2024 general election as an independent candidate.

This was after he claimed his supporters were being intimidated ahead of the party’s flagbearer elections.

Mr. Kyerematen’s supporters including Dr. Adomako Kissi were left hanging after he left the NPP to pursue his presidential ambitions.

Reacting to this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, the Anyaa-Sowutuom MP said his support for the former Trade Minister is affecting him.

“People were against me because I supported Alan Kyerematen but fortunately for me, he moved in a different direction. I have always maintained that the NPP brought me to Parliament so ill will always stay with my party.

“As it stands now we are on a different trajectory. I remain resolute about it and whatever happens to me, I will forever be an NPP because I believe sometimes you need to stay and solve the issues rather than leave,” he said.

The MP also added that he is now on good terms with the current NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and supports his ambition.

“So far Bawumia has been very nice to me, he gladly accepted me and he acknowledged the fact that in the past I didn’t support him. But he is happy that the prodigal son is back home,” he said.

Dr. Adomako Kissi is seeking re-election an he is facing stiff opposition in the parliamentary primaries slated for Saturday, January 27, 2024.
