A renowned British crocodile expert has been jailed for 10 years and five months in Australia, after admitting to sexually abusing dozens of dogs, in a case which horrified the nation.

Adam Britton, a leading zoologist who has worked on BBC and National Geographic productions, pleaded guilty to 56 charges relating to bestiality and animal cruelty.

He also admitted to four counts of accessing child abuse material.

The Northern Territory (NT) Supreme Court heard the 53-year-old filmed himself torturing the animals until almost all died, and then shared the videos online under pseudonyms.

The bizarre ban was announced through the Socialist Women’s Union of Korea, according to a source in South Pyongan Province, which lies north of the capital.

Speaking to Daily NK, a newspaper in neighbouring South Korea, the source listed the offences that could leave dog owners in violation of the government’s socialist ethos. 

‘Treating a dog as a family member, who eats and sleeps with the family, is incompatible with the socialist lifestyle and should be strictly avoided,’ they said.

Dressing dogs in clothes, as exemplified by Western celebrities like Paris Hilton, was also singled out for condemnation. 

The source continued: ‘The practice of dressing up dogs as if they were humans, putting pretty ribbons in their hair, wrapping them in a blanket, and burying them when they die is a bourgeois activity. 

‘It’s one of the ways wealthy people waste money in a capitalist society.’ 

Describing the regime’s attitude, the source said: ‘Dogs are basically meat that’s raised outside in accordance with their nature and then eaten when they die.

‘Therefore, such behaviour is totally unsocialist and must be strictly eliminated.’ 

The regime also emphasised that ‘the purpose of raising dogs is to collect more furs’, the source said. 

Rising levels of dog ownership – a practice described by the authorities as carrying ‘the stench of the bourgeoisie’ – reportedly motivated the new edict. 

And while citizens were being given the chance to deal with the matter ‘quietly’, non-compliance could trigger a ‘mass movement’ to ‘eliminate’ the practice, the source said. 

The custom of keeping pet pooches must ultimately die out, union members were warned. 

One dog owner described by Daily NK was reduced to tears by the announcement.

‘What should I do with the dog I love so much? I can’t just kill it, and I can’t just abandon it,’ she reportedly said. 

Greg Scarlatoiu, executive director of the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea (HRNK), which documents the atrocities of the Kim regime, said it was a ‘ludicrous’ decree. 

He said: ‘The Kim regime criminalises normal behaviour, including visiting a relative in a neighbouring village without a travel permit, crossing the border without regime approval, or possessing a religious book. 

‘The ongoing crackdown on pet dog ownership as non-socialist behaviour – this attempt to break the multi-millennial human-canine bond by ideological decree – is the epitome of ludicrous interdiction.’ 

According to the source in South Pyongan, the practice of keeping dogs as pets started small in North Korea in the early 2000s, when they were usually guard dogs.

They said: ‘There have always been families who had cats to catch mice, but there weren’t many families with dogs. 

‘But that number has gradually increased, and recently there’s been a noticeable rise in foreign breeds of dogs such as Pomeranians and Shih Tzus, which used to be a rare sight in North Korea.’ 

Though dog meat is eaten in both Koreas, it’s become controversial in the South and the Seoul government passed a law in January banning its production and sale. 

A dog-meat soup known as Dangogiguk is sometimes served to foreign visitors in the North.

The man, visibly frustrated, is seen holding back three foreign-bred dogs to warn the pastors to reduce the noise during their service.

In the video, the man went straight to the pulpit to express his displeasure at the loud prayers and worship.

Rather, the church members continue fervently praying like they are casting out demons, seemingly oblivious to the man’s presence.

After a few minutes of not reaching an agreement, the man decides to leave the premises, but not before making his point.

This incident highlights a growing concern among Ghanaians who reside near churches.

The issue of noise pollution from religious activities has become a subject, with many residents hesitant to report it due to the fear of being labelled as ‘evil’ or anti-religious.

Now I understand why I was once attacked by my dog. Cadafi was the first to welcome me back from work until one day it went bonkers and attacked me.

One of the above songs made me remember the days when my late father used to send me to buy him a ‘Paul Maul’ cigarette or ‘55’! The first misleading information I was ever exposed to was when my father would send me to buy him ‘55’ and on the box of cigarettes was ‘555’! What is so difficult about calling all the ‘5s’? The second confusing word was ‘Diplomat’. I grew up only to realise that the word means a highly revered rep of one country in another country. Ah! ‘55’ and ‘Diplomat’, why?

The Assemblyman for Gomoa Dominase Electoral Area, Bennie Mosloni, confirmed this in an interview with Adom News.

The stray dog bit 13 people within two days, an incident that has caused concern and raised alarm among the local community.

Among the victims, eight individuals are currently receiving treatment and have been admitted at Potsin Polyclinic and Buduatta Health Centre.

Fortunately, five others have already received treatment and have been discharged, indicating a varying degree of severity in the dog bites.

But Mr Mosloni has said the exact dog has not been found with efforts still underway.

The Gomoa East District Health Director, Felix Agyemang Adipare, has indicated a sample from the dog will be taken for clinical test and subsequently killed once it is found.

He said the directorate has taken precautionary steps to prevent the outbreak of rabies in the enclave.

Scientists discovered that dogs can smell stress in our breath and sweat.

Four dogs – pets volunteered by their owners – were trained to “choose” one of three scent canisters.

And in more than 650 out of 700 trials, they successfully identified a sample of sweat or breath that had been taken from a stressed person.

The researchers, at Queen’s University Belfast, hope their study, published in the journal Plos One, will help in the training of therapy dogs.

Dogs experience their world through smell. And their highly sensitive scent-detection abilities are already used to detect drugs, explosives, and illnesses, including certain cancers, diabetes and even Covid.

“We had lots of evidence that dogs can pick up smells from humans that are associated with certain medical conditions or disease – but we don’t have much evidence that they can smell differences in our psychological state,” lead researcher Clara Wilson said.

The 36 human volunteers reported their stress levels before and after completing a difficult maths problem.

Each can contained a sample of their sweat or breath from before or – as long as their blood pressure and heart rate had also increased – after.

And if the dogs, Treo, Fingal, Soot and Winnie, stood still or sat in front of the “stressed” sample, they were rewarded with a favourite dog treat.

While the parent was perfecting the documentation and registration of the child, the child strayed and the dogs attacked, dragged him to their shed and feasted on him.

The resident said the owner of the school is a UK returnee, who rears dogs on the same compound that houses the school. On sighting the baby, the dogs rushed on him and made meat of him.

It was also gathered that the trained dogs dragged the little boy to their house where about 10 of them devoured the two-old boy.

Daily Trust reports that the Nteje community, where the incident happened, culturally prohibits rearing of dogs. The UK returnee had been warned about rearing dogs in the community, but he refused to listen to the community’s instructions.

On hearing the sad news, the youth vigilante in the community rushed to the school compound belonging to one Chinedu Oka and shot the dogs to death.

Reacting, the traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo, said the proprietor of the school, Chinedu Oka, has been handed over to the appropriate authorities and they would make sure that justice is served because the community does not condone evil.

“The youth have killed and burnt the dogs and we are in support of their actions,” he added.

Only identified as Awele on social she shared the pathetic story of being tormented and starved by the second wife of her father but in the midst of all these challenges struggled to achieve her current feet.

I was abandoned by my mother at the age of seven months (7months) with my father and stepmother. My stepmother was mean. I endured all manner of maltreatments she meted at me. Sometimes I went hungry for days. She would so starve me that I would be seeing death. On one occasion, I was very hungry that I had to eat our dog’s leftovers food.

Our neighbour’s son caught me eating the dog’s leftover food (eba and egusi) and he told his mother who later that evening invited me to her house and asked me if what her son said was true.

I was so terrified that I begged her not to tell my step mother, because she will kill me if she knew that I ate the dog’s leftover instead of throwing it away. The woman wept and promised to give me food every day without my stepmother’s knowledge, a promise she kept till we left the compound.

As if starving me was not enough punishment, my Stepmother flogged me mercilessly until I would faint at times. She would also apply pepper in my vagina, eyes, armpit and neck, tie me up and abandon me in one of the toilets for days without food. Despite all these experiences.

I was very bright academically and was loved and favored by God and people. I knew that the only way to escape was to achieve educational success, so I never joked with schooling. So you see, I have every right to be hateful, bitter, jealous, arrogant, sad, negative and toxic but I chose not to.

A rabies infected dog has reportedly killed two people at Kasoa as 70 others battle for their lives in various hospitals in the Awutu Senya East Municipality in the central region.

Confirming the incident in an interview with Adom News, Awutu Senya East Municipal Veterinary Doctor Paa Kwesi Andoh disclosed over 70 people have been infected with rabies leaving them in critical conditions.

“We had reports of rabies infected dogs biting people in the community and as a result, we begun educating the people on the signs to look out for in a rabies infected dogs.”

“70 people have been infected within two weeks with two deaths recorded,” he said.

Meanwhile, Doctor Paa Kwesi Andoh has threatened to kill all dogs in the municipality within three weeks if dog owners fail to vaccinate their dogs.
