The third episode of the sixth season of Snowfall, “Door of No Return,” was dedicated to slavery in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Snowfall: Popular American series features David Dontoh with lead stars in Ghana Kente

In the opening, lead actor, Leon is seen strolling the routes of the Makola Market with his lover, Wanda while dressed in indigenous Batakari garb. A wall bill quoting former President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings hung at the 4.00 minute mark haunting Leon with the words:

“The errors of the past must be corrected in order to re-establish the confidence of our people in a secure future”

In this episode, the series examines how slavery in Africa evolved from a tribal warfare practice to a brutally enforced way of life after Europeans began exploiting the continent.

Door of No Return alludes to the final door through which Africans were forced before being shipped to the New World. The fortified castle of Cape Coast, Ghana, was a major hub on the Atlantic slave trade’s route.

Veteran actor David Dontoh plays a tour guide, Likem, who shows Leon and Wanda around Cape Coast Castle and explains the history of slavery in Africa under colonial rule in a captivating narration.

Leon and Wanda surprise everyone by getting married on the gorgeous Cape Coast beach, dressed in colorful Kente and gold ornaments, exchanging rings against the sunlit backdrop of the water.

The episode features some of the most breath-taking sights you’ll see close to the sea in Cape Coast on a bright day.

The crime drama is among the most highly rated FX originals to debut in 2017. It takes viewers to the beginning of the 1980s crack cocaine pandemic in Los Angeles. It has captivated audiences who constantly desire more. Unfortunately, season six will be the last season.

We never kissed on TV – David Dontoh speaks on dating Maame Dokono [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/we-never-kissed-on-tv-david-dontoh-speaks-on-dating-maame-dokono-video/ Mon, 30 Aug 2021 13:25:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2007713 Veteran actor, David Dontoh, has cleared the air on his relationship with colleague Maame Dokono after years of dating speculations.

Despite Mr Dontoh currently married, rumour has it that the duo had a tight amorous relationship in their on-screen days.

Maame Dokono also confirmed she dated Mr Dontoh for four years “because she needed a partner to help ward off the many men that were chasing her with love proposals.”

But, in a latest interview with Adom TV’s Sister Sandy on her Ahosepe Xtra show, Mr Dontoh confirmed they have a relationship, but he was quick to add that it is strictly platonic.

Debunking the rumours, Mr Dontoh disclosed that they never kissed, not even in the countless movies they have starred in.

“For all the years that we acted on television, we never kissed, never, but everybody keeps saying she is my wife,” he said.

He was positive that Ghanaians coined the speculation due to their enviable bond both on set and in private life despite the 18 years age difference.

“We have a very good relationship. Everybody who is sensible will know there is a relationship between us. You don’t need to touch or kiss the person to show it. There is a chemistry between how we act towards each other,” he detailed.

Nicknamed Ghanaman, Mr Dontoh made the revelation while speaking on the immorality some persons involve in in their quest for fame.

He added that the craze for fame has been intensified such that people will go all length, including portraying their nudity to earn the tag as celebrities.

But, in their days, he said decency was the order of the day and that was why respect is evident between all the veteran stars.

The Ghanaian actor and television personality, who has starred in numerous movies, says like many successful professionals in the showbiz industry, his first step was performing theatre arts in the theatre.

“Theatre is the seed of all entertainment. Everything entertainment starts from the theatre. We have radio theatre, we have theatre on stage and we have TV theatre and theatre on screen as in film so you realise that theatre cuts across,” he told Rev. Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series.

“So, my first advice to the youth is that if you want to really be somebody in the entertainment industry, study theatre very well. This is because, that is what will give you the leverage to find your level and to be able to do virtually everything,” he said.

According to him, the movie industry is the leading employer and as such it will be a great opportunity for anyone who wants to develop a “strong career” in the industry.

He said: “Theatre is actually the largest industry. Film for instance employs as many as 207 professionals. The actor is only one. So, you can imagine the size of the industry. It is bigger than any industry. In fact, it is the only industry that employs everybody. They employ accountants, doctors, lawyers, and every other profession. So, it is an industry that presents a lot of opportunities for anyone who is interested in pursuing a strong career in that area.”

He urged the youth not to be in a rush to get noticed in showbiz.

“Most of the time, people are in a hurry to be seen. Don’t be in a hurry to be seen. if you have to be seen, you will be seen,” he added.

He has featured in various local and international movies including Beasts of No Nation, The Dead, and The Cursed Ones.

David Dontoh’s life-changing advice to parents [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/david-dontohs-life-changing-advice-to-parents-video/ Tue, 01 Sep 2020 18:42:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1848333 Veteran Gollywood actor, David Dontoh, has given parents life-changing advice on the career path of their wards.

Mr Dontoh is pleading with guardians to allow their children have sole decision on what occupation they would love to fully indulge in.

To him, the greatest sin a parent can commit against a child is to force a career pursuit they have no passion for.

“If the children follow their heart, they can build and develop themselves to attain any height they want in life. No one should pressure their kids to go into jobs just to please the parents,” he said in an interview on Adom TV’s Entertainment Hall, hosted by Mike 2.

The adverse effect of parental pressure, Mr Dontoh reiterated can be death from frustration and the guilt will in the long run fall on the family.

He made this assertion when he disclosed his father ceased communications with him for two years for ditching medicine for acting.

To Mr Dontoh, if he had bowed to pressure, he might not have been the talented and determined actor he is known for.

David Dontoh speaks on why he ditched medicine for acting https://www.adomonline.com/david-dontoh-speaks-on-why-he-ditched-medicine-for-acting/ Mon, 31 Aug 2020 15:03:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1847683 Every successful person indeed has a painful story and the latest to bring his to light is renowned actor, David Dontoh.

Casting his mind to the good old days, the 56-year-old narrated how his decision to ditch studying medicine for acting cost him some years of fatherly love.

Speaking exclusively on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall, he revealed as a brilliant Science Student, with Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics as his electives, his family expected him to take up a further course to materialise his dream of becoming a Doctor.

Mr Dontoh said his Doctorate plans were cut short when he realised God had instilled the passion of acting into his heart.

His decision did not sink well with his father, who he said cut communication with him for two years.

Only God can determine your destiny. If God reveals his plans to you, travel to the moon and back, you will still be led back to that path. Because at that time, I had performed a minor session and Doctors said I had passed but God had already prepared me for a bigger thing.

When asked by the host, Mike 2, to give details of the ‘bigger thing’, Mr Dontoh touted acting, of which he has made name from.

Medicine is just one aspect of acting; actors teach, preach and heal so I was not bothered when I realised what I was practicing was broad.
