In a conversation on E Vibes, the musician shared that his dad was not only supportive of his pursuits but also played a crucial role in shaping his music career.

He pointed out that his father’s extensive record collection from back in the day had a significant influence on his musical journey.

The musician told Becky “My dad had almost every record. My dad inspired my music career greatly. My dad knew who I was. He supported everything I did. He came to watch me play football.”

“He supported everything I did. He was always behind the scenes but he is that person who encourages anything he sees in you. When I started doing music, I didn’t really tell anybody. I was just recording. I remember I had gone to record ‘M3y3’ and I was playing in my room and he just entered my room, sat down for a little while and the comment he made was ‘that is a very beautiful song’ and he thinks is going to be a hit. Those words from him gave me a lot of energy to do more.”

For one single father, who has been caring for his daughter, Victoria, on his own since her mother walked out 11 years ago, this particular area has proven somewhat difficult.

Now 14, Victoria is said to be a “great kid” who makes him “a proud dad.” However, they have butted heads in recent times over typical grievances such as clothes and school grades.

Dating, in particular, has been tricky to navigate, and the protective dad will always ask Victoria to introduce her to any dates before they head out.

Unfortunately, one boy recently refused to abide by this rule, and so he asked Victoria to call off their date altogether.

Now the father and daughter are somewhat at odds, and he’s in desperate need of some words of wisdom.

Taking to Reddit, the conflicted dad – who goes by the username u/Main_Hippo_6627 – wrote: “Unfortunately, she’s interested in boys now, and they’re interested in here, God, if you’re listening, send help.

“Normally, when she says that she has a date, I’m fine. I meet the kid, they go on their way, that’s my rule. I don’t do some goofy ‘If you don’t have my daughter home at 9:00 on the nose, I’m coming hunting for you’ big scary dad speech. I wanna just meet the kid so I can put a face to a name.

A few days ago, she said a guy named ‘Vince’ asked her out, fine. Well, Friday night came and I get told by Victoria that oh, he’s ‘not good at talking to parents’ and ‘doesn’t like to do it.”

He continued: “Sarcastically I said that I loved hearing that and that I was at ease hearing that this guy actively avoids parents. She’s got a PhD in my sarcasm so I received an eye roll.

“I said he could use tonight as practice for talking to parents. She said that he doesn’t have to do anything he doesn’t want to. I said if he’s not meeting me, she’s not going on a date. I got a foot stomp and a ‘that’s not fair. I told her I wasn’t overbearing, I just wanted to meet this kid.”

Victoria didn’t take this well at all, telling her dad “she was going to do what she wanted.” He then instructed her to text Vince to tell him the date was off, and go to her room.

She did so, but not without a fair bit of tears and door slamming, and the declaration that she “hated” her father. Now he’s wondering whether he might have been too harsh.

However, a number of fellow Reddit users have applauded his parenting skills, with one person saying they were “grateful” there were dads like him around.

One person wrote: “If the guy doesn’t want to meet you, that sucks for him. He’s apparently old enough to come to pick her up and take her out, so he should be old enough to introduce himself and hurry out the door.

“It’s suspicious and makes you wonder if he’s older or if he’s hiding something a parent could spot but a teenager would overlook.”

Another commented: “I have gone through TWO daughters and their teenage years. God won’t help you…you will lose your mind lol. In all honesty, it sounds like she was trying to ‘get away with something.

“So you did right sticking to your rule. You already seem pretty relaxed about dating and her going out, so you’re not asking too much. I wish you luck sir, you’re in trying times!”

Vernon Winfrey died Friday at the age of 89, according to Oprah Daily. Oprah shared publicly last week that her father had cancer, and surprised him with a Fourth of July celebration she had renamed “Vernon Winfrey Appreciation Day.”

Vernon Winfrey was a beloved barber for more than 50 years in Nashville, where he owned his own barber shop. He also served on the city council for 16 years and was a trustee for Tennessee State University, according to The Associated Press.

Oprah has long credited her father for her success, telling The Washington Post in 1986 that if she hadn’t been sent to live with him as a teen, she “would have gone in another direction,” adding that she otherwise “could have made a good criminal.”

And last month, she honoured her dad in a Father’s Day video.

“So today I salute my father, Vernon Winfrey, and all the fathers who’ve done the best they knew at the time to give you, me, us, the guidance and support they were capable of,” she said, per TODAY. “I know firsthand how the trajectory of life can change by the positive influence of a good father.”

She added, “If it were not for him, I doubt that anybody in the world would know my name.”

Now, the superstar has confirmed her first pregnancy by strolling through Harlem with boyfriend A$AP Rocky — and her growing belly on full display.

“I’m ecstatic,” the singer’s dad, Ronald Fenty, told Page Six from his home in Barbados on Monday, adding: “I’m so happy that I jumped for joy. I’m still so excited.

“Rihanna always said that she wanted children, she loves kids. She always takes care of her cousins’ kids…she’s going to be a good mom.”

Fenty met Rocky after his daughter brought him home to the Caribbean island in December 2020, calling him “a very cool guy” and adding: “I like him.”

Rihanna and her father, a former alcoholic and crack addict, have had a troubled relationship over the years.

Last September, Rihanna scrapped the lawsuit she had brought against her dad, accusing him of misusing her name to benefit his own entertainment company, just weeks before they were meant to meet in court. It’s believed they settled the case.

Now Fenty seems to have reconciled with his daughter (real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty). He told Page Six that Rihanna called him with the news that he will be a grandpa on Sunday night.

“I just got the news from her last night, and she sent me some photos,” he said. “I’m just over the moon. She’s beautiful inside and out.”

The singer, who found global fame at 17 with her version of “Pon de Replay,” told British Vogue in 2020 that she had turned her attention to motherhood after her long-term relationship with Saudi billionaire businessman Hassan Jameel ended.

She said: “Since I turned 32, I’m realizing life is really short.

“You don’t have a lot of time to tolerate s–t, you know? You put so much on your plate. When you’re overwhelmed, you need to start cutting things out. And I’m overwhelmed too much…I know I will want to live differently.”

Asked where she pictured herself in 10 years, she replied: “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient…I’ll have kids — three or four of ’em.”

Rihanna even made it clear that she could be a single mom, saying: “Hell, yeah!”

“I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong…’ They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”

But she won’t have to do it on her own as she appears to be fully committed to Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers).

An onlooker at Carbone restaurant in Soho earlier this month saw the couple as they shared an intimate dinner, telling Page Six: “Rocky was looking at Rihanna adoringly, and Rihanna looked so gorgeous. The hostess had to move them to a different table to accommodate Rihanna’s bump, and when she got up she was stroking her stomach.”

Both equally successful and fashionable — Rocky has appeared on the cover of GQ — they also share troubled backgrounds.

Rihanna once recounted to Rolling Stone how her father allegedly beat her mother, Monica Braithwaite, and once hit her as well. She said she suffered debilitating stress headaches as a child that stopped once her parents divorced when she was 14.

After the divorce, Braithwaite worked full time and Rihanna took over as her younger brother Rajad’s caretaker.

“I grew up fast, kind of like the second mom,” Rihanna told The Guardian.

Rocky — whose parents Adrian Mayer and Renee Black emigrated from Barbados to the US — was born and brought up in Harlem.

Rocky started rapping at eight years old, but when he was 12, his father was jailed for drug dealing. A year later, his 20-year-old brother, Ricky, was shot dead by a rival dealer. Rocky was 13 at the time, and on his way to school when his mom told him the news.

With his dad behind bars, Rocky, his mom and two sisters spent time living in shelters. They moved around frequently, from Harlem to the Bronx to Philadelphia and North Carolina. He saw “a lot of crazy s–t” growing up, he told the Red Bull Academy in 2015.

Rocky also drifted into life on the streets, starting with selling weed as a teen before moving on to crack. At the age of 16, he spent two weeks in Rikers Island for firing a gun at a neighborhood bully in Harlem.

He was “never no big-time hustler,” he insisted to journalist Dorian Lynskey in 2015, making just enough to “support my studio time” but quitting dealing before getting sucked too far in.

“That lifestyle’s wack,” Rocky said.

Rocky was 23 when he signed a $3 million major-label deal after dropping his breakout mixtape, “Live. Love. A$AP.” in 2011.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has won nine Grammy awards, acted in Hollywood movies and runs her own Fenty Beauty and Fenty Fashion lines, but has had less luck in love.

She ended up in the headlines after ex-lover, rapper Chris Brown, assaulted her on the night of the 2009 Grammys. Brown later pleaded guilty to a felony assault and was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to stay at least 50 yards from Rihanna at all times. Despite the violent incident and concern from fans, the pair embarked on a second attempt at romance in 2013 — but they broke up for good that same year.

Following her split from Jameel in January 2020 after a three-year relationship, it wasn’t long before Rihanna got together with Rocky.

Rumors about their status began circulating as early as 2013, when Rocky opened for Rihanna’s Diamonds World Tour. People magazine confirmed they were dating in November 2020.

Both Rocky and Rihanna seem to have brought some peace to each other. They spent 2020 driving from LA to NYC on a massive tour bus.

As Rocky told GQ last May, they made it their very own Great American Roadtrip. He said they listened to the Stones, the Grateful Dead and Curtis Mayfield and stopped in a few national parks. Rocky told how he dropped acid and made his own clothes, beatnik-style — sewing, patching, and tie-dyeing shirts and pants on the bus.

He called Rihanna “The One,” saying: “She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones.

“I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”

He said she has influenced his new music, and that he was overjoyed when she took him home to Barbados two years ago.

“It was like a homecoming thing,” he said. “It was crazy. I always imagined what it would be like for my dad, before he came to America. And I got to visit those places, and believe it or not, there was something nostalgic about it. It was foreign but familiar.”

Asked if he’s ready to be a dad, he replied: “If that’s in my destiny, absolutely…I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.”

Two men attacked the father of three with “blunt objects” in the horrific attack in Chicago, according to police reports.

Speaking to local television station Fox32, a neighbour reported finding Jose Tellez, 49, holding onto the decorations while bleeding profusely in his front garden.

She ran out after she heard Mr Tellez’s daughter screaming during the ordeal, with the girl desperately telling her: “My dad, my dad, he’s hurt.”

With the father still breathing, the neighbour revealed that she and the girl tried desperately to save his life by administering first aid, saying: “I told her to get a blanket to put on his head, there was a lot of blood.”

He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead several hours later.

Mr Tellez, who moved to the United States from Mexico, is survived by his wife and three children according to a GoFundMe page set up by members of the local community. The funds will be given to his family.

Neighbours have paid tribute to the “family man”, with one named Silverio Nodal saying he had known Mr Tellez for more than a decade and was shocked anyone would want to hurt him.

Mr Nodal said: “He came here to provide the best for his family, you know as all of us do, the American dream. But this is not the American dream.

“It’s a shame. This is supposed to be the best season, the Christmas season,”

“It’s a family thing. These things shouldn’t be happening. It’s a big shock for all of us.”

Police have released few details about the suspected assailants, saying only that they were males.

No arrests have been made, and officers are still working to establish a motive.

Emma Tustin, 32, and 29-year-old Thomas Hughes went on trial after little Arthur Labinjo-Hughes suffered an “unsurvivable” brain injury during the lockdown in June 2020.

During the eight-week trial at Coventry Crown Court, jurors heard Tustin carried out the fatal assault while she had sole care of Arthur.

She allegedly fetched her mobile phone immediately afterwards to take a photograph of the youngster as he lay dying in the hallway of her home in Solihull, West Midlands.

Tustin was today found guilty of murder and Hughes of manslaughter.

The trial heard an audio recording in which Arthur can be heard saying “no-one loves me”, and another in which he cried “no-one’s gonna feed me”.

Haunting video footage shows the moment he struggled to lift a light duvet and struggled to stand just hours before he died.

Hughes, of Solihull, was accused of encouraging the killing, including by sending a text message to Tustin 18 hours before the fatal assault telling her “just end him”.

Prosecutors claimed the pair carried out a “campaign of cruelty” amounting to “torture” against Arthur, in which he was force-fed salt-laced meals, kept isolated in the home, starved, dehydrated and routinely beaten.

The usually “chubby, happy” and “always smiley” boy moved into Tustin’s home at the start of the first national lockdown in March 2020, but one witness described how he looked “broken” just before his death less than three months later.

Jurors were told that tests later revealed Arthur had also been “poisoned with salt” in the hours before his collapse, while a post-mortem examination found the youngster had suffered about 130 separate injuries.

Arthur’s mum Olivia Labinjo-Halcrow, who is behind bars for killing her boyfriend, has now paid tribute to her ‘best friend’ son.

In a statement from her prison cell, Arthur’s mum described her son as a “beautiful little boy that I knew and loved deeply”.

Tustin had already admitted two counts of child cruelty during the trial, including carrying out three assaults on the boy and also making him sit or stand in her hallway for up to 14 hours a day as part of a behavioural regime.

She has accepted making 200 audio recordings of Arthur, often crying and moaning during these punishments, claiming she did so only to send them to Hughes in order to demonstrate the boy’s “naughty” behaviour while he was absent.

Some of these extracts were played to the court, including one in which the boy can be heard saying “no-one loves me”, and another in which he cried “no-one’s gonna feed me”.

Hughes, in evidence, alleged Tustin “mentally abused” and “gaslighted” him into complying with the punishing disciplinary regime, but also admitted lying to school staff who were checking on Arthur’s progress during the first Covid lockdown.

He previously said he had “probably” placed the couple’s relationship above the welfare of his son.

Tustin, who has accepted being cruel to Arthur on occasions and was pregnant with Hughes’ unborn child at the time, has said she was “disgusted and ashamed” by her admitted behaviour.

But she claimed that Arthur’s fatal head injury must have been self-inflicted, possibly caused by him throwing himself down the staircase in her hallway, and describing how she heard a “bang” and a “crack”.

During her evidence, she said that just because medical experts had concluded Arthur’s death had been caused by head trauma “inflicted upon him by an adult”, that “doesn’t make it true”.

The mum of tragic lad described her son as “the light of my life” in a moving statement.

Olivia Labinjo-Halcrow, 27, said the abuse he suffered was “harrowing and incomparable”.

The jailed mum, who is serving an 11-year prison term for killing her boyfriend in 2019, said her son was “my best friend”.

In a statement from her prison cell, she described him as a “beautiful little boy that I knew and loved deeply”.

She wrote: “The details of Arthur’s case are harrowing and incomparable. But I want people to know who Arthur was, from his huge smile and personality to his gentle and caring nature.

“All mothers are biased and believe that their children are the best, and I’m no different. From the moment Arthur was born he filled my life with joy. He was always smiling and had the most inquisitive little mind.

“Arthur’s super power was his smile.”

The sheer cruelty of the couple was played out in the courtroom over two months.

Texts between them showed their feelings towards the little boy, whose mother was previously jailed for the manslaughter of her boyfriend.

In brutal messages, Hughes told Tustin to ‘just end’ Arthur and also ‘take his jaw off’ and ‘gag’ him. He also threatened to ‘take his neck off’ and ‘dash my food off his head’.

The day before the child died, his dad texted about paying someone to ‘dig Arthur’s grave’.

Tustin was equally vile, the court was told.

In one message she said ‘f****** launch this lying little f***’ and in another, she warned she was ‘going to chin this little c***’.

The boy would still be alive if the Covid-19 lockdown had not happened, detectives believe.

Arthur was living with his paternal grandparents, who “loved and cherished him” when the pandemic hit.

Det Insp Laura Harrison, of West Midlands Police, said it “was the worst decision that could have been made”.

“If only Hughes had left Arthur with his grandparents who absolutely doted on him, loved him and cherished him,” she told the Mirror.

“Its only recent that musicians are earning something and are being respected. People don’t take musicians serious, its better than before but the perception is still there,” he said.

He told Andy Dosty that he has also cautioned his children to put aside their music ambition to focus on academia, if they intend doing full-time music.

“I ask my children to go to school so they can put something on the table. How many times do you see our A-list artistes on the road performing?” He queried.

“Not more than five percent of Ghanaian musicians are making money. I am able to survive because I am not living on music. I won’t encourage the youth with lies,” he said.

She took to Instagram to announce the sad news but didnt mention the cause of his death.

Some Nollywood celebrities such as Annie Idibia, Anita Okoye, Falz and the likes took to their Instagram pages to offer their condolences to the actress.

Jose Mourinho said an emotional goodbye to his father Felix on Tuesday morning as he attended his funeral in Setubal, Portugal.

The Manchester United manager confirmed that his father had passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 79 after suffering with ill health for several months.

Mourinho, who helped carry the coffin into the church, was joined by wife Matilde, daughter Matilde, son Jose Jnr and United assistant coach Silvino Louro for the service.

United goalkeeping coach Emilio Alvarez Blanco and Mourinho’s assistant at Real Madrid, Aitor Karanka, were also on hand to support their friend.

A large crowd gathered outside the venue as Mourinho helped remove the coffin from the hearse before draping a large flag over it.

As a footballer, Mourinho Felix played first for Vitoria Setubal and then for Belenenses, making 274 appearances in the Portuguese league between 1955 and 1974.

He achieved one international cap for Portugal, appearing as a late substitute in a match against the Republic of Ireland in the 1972 Brazil Independence Cup.

After hanging up his gloves, Mourinho Felix became a coach with a number of Portuguese clubs including Uniao Leiria, Amora, Rio Ave, Belenenses and Vitoria.

Belenenses confirmed the news of his death in a statement which read: ‘Os Belenenses CF have been made aware of the passing of Jose Manuel Mourinho Felix, club goalkeeper from 1968 until 1974, team coach in the 1970-71 and 1982-83 campaigns, and a much loved figure at the club.

‘During this difficult time, the Belenense family and Os Belenenses CF sends its warmest condolences to his family, especially his wife and son, Jose Mourinho.’

Mourinho, who visited his ailing father regularly over the past few months, took to Instagram on Monday to share a touching black-and-white image of himself as a young boy with his father following his passing.

The country’s football federation sent ‘the most heartfelt condolences to Mourinho and the rest of the bereaved family.’ United also extended their condolences on their official website.

The former Chelsea boss was pictured in Setubal on Monday evening after returning to his native Portugal ahead of Tuesday’s burial.

Mourinho was seen being comforted by a friend as family and those close to Felix gathered ahead of Tuesday’s church service.

The 54-year-old is due to return to Carrington for pre-season training on July 8 as United begin their preparations for the new Premier League season.

Mourinho and his players will travel to America for five high-profile friendlies against LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

They also take on Norwegian outfit Valerenga in Oslo and Sampdoria in Dublin before facing Champions League winners Real Madrid for a second time in the UEFA Super Cup in Skopje, Macedonia on August 8.
