#Sexforgrade: MP appeals to Ghanaians to forgive Prof. Gyampo (Listen) https://www.adomonline.com/sexforgrade-mp-appeals-to-ghanaians-to-forgive-prof-gyampo-listen/ Wed, 09 Oct 2019 12:36:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1711279

New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwah is asking Ghanaians to forgive Professor Ransford Gyampo, one of the lecturers captured in the BBC’s ‘Sex for Grades’ documentary.

To him, the embattled lecturer is being roasted by a section of the public because he may have stepped on some toes in line of his duty whether in the past or present.

He, therefore, wants Ghanaians to forgive him and allow investigations into the matter because he is human.

“When this issue popped up, there were a number of lecturers implicated but I think he is the toast of the town because he may have involved himself is these acts for a very long time and that is why some are happy about his downfall. But, with all these, let’s forgive him and allow investigations to take place,” he told Accra based Okay FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

The University of Ghana Tuesday interdicted Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Kwame Butakor after being implicated in the BBC documentary.

They are expected to be hauled before the University’s Anti Sexual Harassment Committee to assist with internal investigations.

Though Prof. Gyampo has denied the allegations levelled against him, pressure has been mounted on the university to take decisive actions to show its commitment in dealing with the issue of sexual misconduct.

Mr Amankwah is, however, urging Prof. Gyampo to desist from dragging politics into the matter.

“To say that some people are behind and dragging politics into this issue won’t help at all, so Gyampo should just keep quiet and allow the investigations else he may worsen his case,” he said.
