On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, a team from the security council, including the district chief executive of Bosomtwe, Engr. Abdul Hamid, stormed the illegal mining site to ward off the miners.

This follows a JoyNews reportage on the rampant destruction of the lands close to the school endangering the lives of teachers and learners.

The school is not the only infrastructure threatened by the illicit activity. The Konkomba Health Centre also hangs by the thread from the unrelenting destruction.

Engr. Hamid after visiting the site described the scene as “unacceptable”.

“I led a decisive operation to halt illegal mining activities in Konkoma, where rampant destruction was occurring perilously close to a school and a clinic. The devastation witnessed at the site is unacceptable and demands swift and resolute action,” he wrote on his facebook page.

The DCE says he has formally requested the police to launch a thorough investigation into the egregious offense to identify and apprehend individuals responsible for the environmental atrocity.

He has also summoned traditional leaders and assembly members for their possible involvement in the illegal operation.

“The traditional leaders and the assembly member have been invited to explain their possible involvement or negligence in allowing this situation to escalate. Accountability will be pursued to the fullest extent,” he noted.

A visit to the site revealed large tracts of lands excavated by the miners leaving behind huge and deepening pits.

The DCE revealed plans are underway to reclaim the site as two excavators are currently on site to cover the dug holes to thwart any danger.

“To mitigate further damage, I have sanctioned an immediate reclamation of the affected lands. Two excavators are currently on site, working diligently to restore the area under the watchful eyes of the Ghana Police Service,” he added.

He reiterated his commitment to safeguarding the environment and protecting the safety of the residents living in the community.

“The safety and well-being of our people and the preservation of our natural resources are paramount. We will not tolerate any activities that compromise these values. Our resolve to protect our environment and uphold the law will continue to guide our actions,” he said.

Sehwi Bekwai Chief commissions clinic to boost healthcare https://www.adomonline.com/sehwi-bekwai-chief-commissions-clinic-to-boost-healthcare/ Mon, 23 Jun 2025 12:14:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2547327 The Paramount Chief of the Sehwi Bekwai Traditional Area, Oyeadieyie Basape Kojo Armah III, has commissioned a modern clinic to serve residents of Sehwi Bekwai and its surrounding communities in the Western North Region.

The facility, established through a partnership with Mission 318, a U.S.-based NGO, is expected to significantly improve healthcare access and delivery in the area.

Until now, the community relied on a dilapidated facility with an overcrowded outpatient department and limited medical equipment. These challenges often led to critical cases being referred to Sehwi Bibiani, resulting in dangerous delays, especially for pregnant women in labour.

Motivated by the pressing healthcare needs of his people, the paramount chief spearheaded efforts to secure a proper facility. The new clinic is fully equipped with essential medical units, beds, and infrastructure to provide quality care.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Oyeadieyie Basape Kojo Armah III reaffirmed his commitment to improving the well-being of his people. He urged health workers and residents to make good use of the facility and ensure its proper maintenance.

The Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Health Director, Oheneba Oppong Darko, commended the chief for his leadership and timely intervention. He said the new facility would help ease pressure on other health centres in the municipality and raise the overall standard of healthcare.

Community members present at the event expressed deep gratitude to the chief and his partners, describing the clinic as a long-awaited relief and a significant milestone in the town’s development.

Church of Pentecost commissions clinic to serve Yawmatwa, parts of Ivory Coast https://www.adomonline.com/church-of-pentecost-commissions-clinic-to-serve-yawmatwa-parts-of-ivory-coast/ Sat, 19 Apr 2025 13:16:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526715 The Church of Pentecost has commissioned a newly built, fully equipped health clinic in Yawmatwa, a community in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.

The facility, beyond serving the people of Yawmatwa, is also expected to cater to surrounding communities, including portions of neighboring Ivory Coast, due to its strategic location along the border.

Built as part of the Church’s social services initiative, the clinic aligns with its Vision 2028 agenda — a long-term plan to transform lives and communities through both spiritual impact and practical, infrastructural development.

At the official commissioning, Pastor Frank Awuah Fordjour, Area Head for Essam-Debiso, underscored the critical need for such an intervention in remote areas where healthcare access remains a challenge.

“This is a practical demonstration of our ministry philosophy — meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of the people. We believe this clinic will be a life-saving asset for the community,” he said.

The clinic boasts a consultation unit, a fully functional maternity ward, a pharmacy, and in-patient wards, all set to operate in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service to ensure proper staffing and long-term sustainability.

The project was welcomed with gratitude by residents, traditional leaders, and health professionals. Nana Yaw Berima Donkor, Kontihene of Sehwi Yawmatwa, speaking on behalf of the chief and the entire community, lauded the Church of Pentecost for its commitment to national development and for delivering a facility that will undoubtedly save lives.

With this new facility, the Church continues to reinforce its dedication to holistic ministry — going beyond church walls to uplift communities physically, socially, and spiritually.

He emphasized that upgrading the clinic would not only benefit the local community but also serve residents of surrounding villages.

“The clinic’s facilities require urgent renovation. Without addressing these challenges, it will be difficult for the clinic to operate at full capacity,” Mr. Asiedu stated.

He appealed to the general public for assistance to improve the clinic’s services.

Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem South, Alex Korankye, who chaired the event, commended the community for taking the initiative to address their needs.

Sarkodie drove me to the clinic with his manager for the ‘abortion’ and left – Yvonne Nelson alleges in her book https://www.adomonline.com/sarkodie-drove-me-to-the-clinic-with-his-manager-for-the-abortion-and-left-yvonne-nelson-alleges-in-her-book/ Mon, 19 Jun 2023 14:39:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2261986 Actress Yvonne Nelson, in her explosive book, I Am Not Yvonne Nelson, revealed that she allegedly got pregnant for award-winning rapper, Sarkodie, however, she had to abort the baby because they both weren’t ready.

In the chapter of the book titled “Abortion,” Yvonne recounts the moment she found out she was pregnant, and the decisions she and Sarkodie made hereafter.

In the book which was launched on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the Peduase Lodge, Yvonne narrates that she tried to terminate the pregnancy by taking a concoction from a friend.

“On an ordinary day, I would have laughed out loud and that would trigger a string of jolly conversations and jokes. But this was no laughing matter. It was a grim piece of information that was capable of turning my world upside down. I wasn’t the only one responsible for the situation, so I called the man whose potent seed had germinated in me. His name is Michael Owusu Addo, a renowned Ghanaian musician who is better known as Sarkodie,” she further states in the book.

According to the actress, “Sarkodie was a budding musician with the potential to become one of the biggest artistes in Ghana and beyond. At the time, however, the future looked uncertain and his way through the maze of life still appeared too foggy to predict. Success was not guaranteed. He was still living with his mother and was not ready to carry a burden while he was being carried by his mother.”

According to Yvonne, when she found out she was pregnant, she tried to abort it by herself, but it didn’t work.

On her second attempt at aborting the baby, Yvonne reveals it was Sarkodie himself who drove her to the hospital to get it done.

“Keeping the pregnancy was not an option. Undertaking another self-medication was also not an option. I agreed with Sarkodie that, this time, we had to do it in a hospital or health facility. Again, that friend of mine had a recommendation. It was a facility in Mamprobi, and the appointed day, Sarkodie drove me there with his manager and they left.

“I hoped and prayed that I will be lucky with this second attempt. The pain, again was intense and I bled profusely. I felt worse because Sarkodie left me to my fate. He did not call or check up on me to find out how the procedure had gone,” Yvonne narrated.

Sarkodie and the manager are yet to officially respond to the allegations.

Nana Essilfuah Boison said her outfit was moved by the fact that, there were no regular vehicles plying the long narrow lane to the main road.

She said a number of lives had been lost due to delays in carrying patients with cases like labour and snake bites through the Koforidua-Suhum road for vehicle to a hospital.

“In 2006, a colleague drew our attention to the Trotor Baptist School and Orphange Complex. Following engagements, they indicated the urgent need for boys’ bathhouse. At the handing over ceremony, the school made a passionate appeal for a clinic.
