President John Dramani Mahama has called on religious leaders, particularly Christian communities, to extend their presence into rural areas to promote morality, discipline, and godliness among Ghanaians.

Speaking at a fellowship with the clergy in Kumasi, Mahama emphasized the need for Ghana’s spiritual leaders to expand their reach, win more members, and contribute to building a more moral and orderly society.

The event in Kumasi mirrored a similar gathering held in Accra as part of Mahama’s strategy to engage faith leaders and seek divine influence in governance.

Mahama stressed that the church has a critical role in fostering peace, progress, and economic growth in Ghana.

He assured that under his leadership, he would govern with integrity, humility, and wisdom while incorporating the ideas and contributions of the people.

Additionally, he encouraged the church to remain vocal in offering constructive criticism of his administration, ensuring accountability and national development.

I am here to reach sinners, not the church – Brother Sammy https://www.adomonline.com/i-am-here-to-reach-sinners-not-the-church-brother-sammy/ Fri, 17 Jan 2025 13:33:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2494180 Gospel singer Brother Sammy says he is supposed to perform at non-Christian events to introduce sinners to God.

Speaking to JoyNews, the singer explained that his frequenting secular events, to the extent of performing on such stages, is right because the church already knows God.

The musician says he is simply extending the gospel outside religious confines.

“These are the places I am supposed to be at because my God told me He came because of sinners. Although we are all sinners, these are the kind of places I should be bringing the gospel and not the church,” the singer said.

Brother Sammy explained further that “the church people know God already, so I have to introduce my God to people. That is why I frequently go to places like this.”

When asked about how he handles backlash from the audience and fellow gospel colleagues who frown upon his performances at secular events and his lifestyle, the singer said, “Even my Lord Jesus was backlashed, so I don’t care, and I know what I am doing.”

“If you don’t like me, I do not come to you for money; I feed myself,” he said in response to criticism from his colleagues in the gospel field.

According to him, he doesn’t heed backlash nor take it personally because nobody feeds him nor supports him financially.

Galamsey: Church must lead fight against illegal mining in Ghana – Rev. Dr Amoafo https://www.adomonline.com/galamsey-church-must-lead-fight-against-illegal-mining-in-ghana-rev-dr-amoafo/ Tue, 01 Oct 2024 10:08:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2455246 A renowned lecturer, author, and preacher, Rev. Dr Emmanuel Kwasi Amoafo, has urged the church to collaborate more proactively with the government to address Ghana’s illegal mining (galamsey) crisis.

He emphasized the church’s potential role in providing sustainable solutions through advocacy, regulation, and intervention.

In an interview on Channel One TV, on Monday, September 30, Rev. Dr. Amoafo stressed the importance of raising awareness.

He called on religious leaders to use their platforms to educate Ghanaians, particularly those involved in illegal mining, on the critical need to safeguard the environment and preserve natural resources, especially water bodies.

“The church should approach this in two ways: first, by teaching the general public from the pulpit about our God-given responsibility to care for the environment. Secondly, by engaging with the government, because the government holds the church in high regard. In a country like Ghana, where almost everyone attends church, the church has influence. The church should work closely with the government to ensure proper regulation and offer viable alternatives for those affected by the changes.”

He also called for the church to set aside political differences and unite in the fight against illegal mining, stressing that “division within the church is a failure of its theological mandate. As Matthew 5:13-16 reminds us, the church is called to be the salt and light of the world. If we are too divided to fulfill that role, we are failing.”

Rev. Dr. Amoafo further encouraged the church to pray for divine guidance in the 2024 general elections, seeking God’s wisdom in selecting a leader who will promote peace, justice, and righteousness.

“Regardless of denomination, whether Pentecostal or mainline, the church should unite in prayer, asking God to prevent bloodshed, violence, and discord. We must seek His chosen leader for our nation at this critical time.”

Some people watch pornography in church – Kumchacha https://www.adomonline.com/some-people-watch-pornography-in-church-kumchacha/ Wed, 06 Mar 2024 19:21:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2365850 Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministry, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has voiced concerns over the rampant use of phones in churches, citing a concerning trend of pornography consumption during church services.

Prophet Kumchacha expressed his dismay during a recent appearance on Accra-based Okay FM, where he lamented the diminishing presence of physical Bibles in favour of smartphones among congregants, a shift he says has inadvertently facilitated access to explicit content.

“Now people don’t come to church with Bibles. All they come along with is their phones. You’ll be shocked to note that while you ask for quotations, people will be watching pornography on their phones,” Kumchacha remarked.

He emphasized the need for vigilance and discernment among worshippers, cautioning against the temptation to engage in activities inconsistent with the sanctity of the church environment.

While recognizing the advancements of the modern world, Kumchacha emphasized the importance of upholding moral standards and preserving the sacredness of religious gatherings.

The man, visibly frustrated, is seen holding back three foreign-bred dogs to warn the pastors to reduce the noise during their service.

In the video, the man went straight to the pulpit to express his displeasure at the loud prayers and worship.

Rather, the church members continue fervently praying like they are casting out demons, seemingly oblivious to the man’s presence.

After a few minutes of not reaching an agreement, the man decides to leave the premises, but not before making his point.

This incident highlights a growing concern among Ghanaians who reside near churches.

The issue of noise pollution from religious activities has become a subject, with many residents hesitant to report it due to the fear of being labelled as ‘evil’ or anti-religious.

Assassins storm church, shoot pastor, kill his wife https://www.adomonline.com/assassins-storm-church-shoot-pastor-kill-his-wife/ Fri, 18 Aug 2023 10:20:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2284543 Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins have attacked a pastor, Rev Samuel Chinyereugo, and killed his wife prior to a church service.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the church, God’s Vineyard of Grace Dominion Assembly, at around 7:36pm and opened fire on the pastor.

The assistant pastor was also said to have also sustained injuries on his head during the attack.

A source who did not want his name in print told Punch that the gunmen trailed the pastor who drove in the company of his wife to the church, where they rained bullets on them as soon as they parked their car in front of the church.

“Some members of the church, including the assistant pastor, were outside the church having a rehearsal ahead of a programme scheduled to commence that day when the pastor and his wife stopped by,” the source said.

The cleric said that he had earlier noticed a car trailing him inside GRA, where he had visited a friend and he was shocked to see the same vehicle suddenly stop behind him in front of his church.

“One of the three armed men who alighted from the car approached the pastor, snatched the cross pendant on his necklace and the two other assailants opened fire from the rear.

“The pastor’s wife was hit by bullets and she died at a hospital a few hours after, while her husband and his deputy were treated and discharged.”

Spokesperson of the police in the state, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident said the command has begun a full-scale investigation to apprehend those behind the act and bring them to justice.

The artiste reminisced about his past as a committed Christian who actively participated in various church activities.

Rex Omar recounted that he used his singing talent to contribute positively to the church.

However, things changed when he approached his pastor with the intention of seeking support from the church board to fund his studio recording endeavors.

During an interview on Accra-based Asaase Radio, Rex Omar revealed that his pastor indicated that the church board, after thorough discussions, had concluded that they could not allocate church funds to aid his studio sessions.

He said this experience marked the turning point that led him to cease attending church.

“Later, Pastor told me that the church board has sat down and they said ‘we can’t use church money for recording,” he said on Thursday.

The highlife artiste reminisced how a ‘worldly person’ rather sponsored his recording.

He stated how he felt about going to church and using his talent only to receive mouthful blessings but not when needed in kind.

Rex Omar mentioned that he saw no reason in wasting his time if he was not being supported by the church for writing gospel songs from the same bible his pastor used to preach but rather received payment.

It is unclear Davido’s mission in church other than to partake in the usual service.

Congregants moved from their seats to flash their phones in the faces of the celebrities, causing the pastor to halt his preaching.

In the video clip, the pastor scolded his congregation for causing such an uproar because of Davido’s presence.

He reminded them that they were in God’s presence and that decorum should be maintained despite the presence of any personality.

“Na church we dey o, Davido come people forget say we dey church,” he said.

Akesse Brempong lauds churches for establishing record labels https://www.adomonline.com/akesse-brempong-lauds-churches-for-establishing-record-labels/ Thu, 06 Apr 2023 07:43:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2236656 Gospel musician, Akesse Brempong, has expressed excitement at the fortunes of the gospel music industry in Ghana.

In a recent post on Facebook, he wrote that recent developments in the gospel music industry give him hope that there will soon be “a phenomenal turn of events” in their space.

“Ghana’s gospel music industry is on the verge of soaring! We are about to witness a phenomenal turn of events within our space,” he stated.

According to him, an admonition he made about 5 years ago on the need for churches to own record labels is gradually coming to fruition.

“It is in 2023 and the Ghanaian church has risen to the occasion. I’m hearing about churches starting record labels and my heart leaps for joy. The Maker’s House Chapel International, the International Central Gospel Church, the Keeper’s House Chapel International and the Harvest Chapel International starting record labels, I believe, is a catalyst for the much-needed growth we’ve longed for. It’s a great time to be alive,” he said.

The banes of the gospel music industry in Ghana have been investment and a music business model that understands the operations of the gospel.

Some churches in other countries have led the pack with their own record labels. Christ Embassy in Nigeria has the Love World Records which has on its label, artistes such as Ada, Sinach, Frank Edwards, Buchi, among others.

Elevation Music is owned by Elevation Church in United States of America.

The HillSong Church in Australia also has the HillSong Music label.

Read his full post below:

“Ghana’s gospel music industry is on the verge of soaring! We are about to witness a phenomenal turn of events within our space.

Back in 2018, I spoke about the involvement of “the church” in the Ghanaian gospel music space. Since the church is the biggest consumer of gospel music and number one producer of gospel musicians, it was expedient the church superintendents over the production and promotion of the art form (music) and the welfare of the players (musicians) within the space.

Again, the church has the capacity to scale up things in terms of production and promotion of the art form (music) which is much needed in our space.

It is in 2023 and the Ghanaian church has risen to the occasion. I’m hearing about churches starting record labels and my heart leaps for joy. The Maker’s House Chapel International, the International Central Gospel Church, the Keeper’s House Chapel International and the Harvest Chapel International starting record labels, I believe, is a catalyst for the much needed growth we’ve longed for.

It’s a great time to be alive.

Congratulations to the churches on the turf. Let’s play ball.”

Not all sicknesses are spiritual to be visiting praying camps – Prophet Joseph Mensah [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/not-all-sicknesses-are-spiritual-to-be-visiting-praying-camps-prophet-joseph-mensah-video/ Wed, 22 Feb 2023 15:21:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2220209 Ghanaian pastor, Prophet Joseph Mensah, has urged sick Ghanaians to continue to seek remedies for their ailment in medical facilities rather than praying camps.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Work and Happiness show on Wednesday, the leader and founder of Angel Dominion International Church said lots of churchgoers are rather making pastors rich through their consultations in churches.

According to him, although spiritual sickness do happen, it is not always the case.

“Not all sicknesses are spiritual. It can be a physical one, if you joke, a fake pastor will collect all of your cash. When you are told it’s spiritual, and you are given things to heal yourself, and it doesn’t work, you should know it’s a lie,” he said.

Meanwhile, the spiritual leader equally checked the fate of people who called into the show to inquire about their ailment and other pressing issues.

She held a thanksgiving service at her Heavenway Champions International Ministry, which was a closed-door service unlike her usual Sunday activities.

Agradaa sang and ministered in a service which was streamed live on social media.

In a praise and worship song, the embattled evangelist thanked God for keeping her safe whilst in the grips of the police.

According to her, she owes God all the adoration for keeping her safe and sound in the 40 days she spent behind bars.

“40 days in cells and nothing happened to me, so I say thank you God. I was behind bars but I was never poisoned or was there any attempt on my life, for these, I praise you,” she was heard in a loud voice saying.

She also showed appreciation to people she claimed were on her side during her woes. Amongst the personalities she mentioned is a lawyer of former President Mahama .

Despite the controversy over money, the repented ‘sika gari’ fetish priestess urged her members who are in need of startup capital to grace her all-night service for assistance.

There were however a handful of members who attended church service on Sunday and there was no drama on the part of people who were allegedly scammed few weeks ago.

The lover boy asked the hand of his lover in church, while she was leading a worship session.

Not aware of the awaiting surprise, she was busily in the spirit, with her eyes closed while singing a gospel song.

For almost two minutes, her to-be groom knelt, waiting for her to end her ministration in order to proceed with his proposal plan.

The singer broke down in tears, as she receives the ring amid cheers and applauses.

The video has triggered reactions with majority of netizens condemning the would-be groom for not respecting the divine sanctuary.

The argument is that he could have proposed to his woman after, rather than interrupting the session.

Other Christians believe the presence of God is the best spot to take such a life-changing step.

According to him, ushers always dragged him from adult service to children’s service due to his dwarfism.

“I remember going to church and sitting in the main auditorium and an usher gave me a toffee and dragged me to Sunday school (children’s service). It is not easy, this thing is serious” Don Little bemoaned.

The little man recounted how the children and sometimes adults in church made fun of him because of his height.

“I used to ask God so many questions back when my friends in school used to laugh at me. I would stand in front of the mirror and wonder what makes others laugh at me. I sometimes have elderly people laugh at me” he said in an interview on Oman Channel.

Don Little said he is no longer worried when people mock him because he is born different

Shock as beer lovers form their own church https://www.adomonline.com/shock-as-beer-lovers-form-their-own-church/ Sun, 15 May 2022 11:31:58 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2114724
Beer drinking has long been frowned upon by churches, as preachers say it pushes people into uncouth and “sinful” conduct.

The tide seems to be changing now.

A group of drinkers from Bindura has decided to form their own church, which embraces alcohol lovers and preaches the Gospel to them.

As reported by Spiked, the church is called Ziva Mwari Congregation Church (ZMCC) and now has 80 congregants in less than a month of its launch.

The all-embracing denomination is non-segregating and opens its arms to imbibers, sorcerers, and prostitutes.

It permits congregants to bring their alcohol to worship centres but not binge during the service, and church members can only consume their bottles after the service.

The founder of Ziva Mwari Congregation Church, Richard Twabi, said they are liberal in dressing and behaviour. He added that their primary focus is on praising God.

We do not have strict rules in our church and even hookers are also welcome because we all know that there is God who needs to be praised. Our service is one hour and nobody is allowed to drink during the service.

Twabi said the church does not yet have a clear leadership structure since it is just starting. Due to this, ZMCC invites leaders from known churches to preach the gospel to congregants every Sunday.

Upon its launch, the church received premises to use in the interim by the Bindura Nickel Corporation (BNC) management. Ironically, the building was formerly a beer hall, Twabi revealed.

We would also want to thank BNC Management for rallying behind us as they gave us and authorized the church to use company premises for the church gatherings and as such we have vowed to help the community through charity work. It was formerly a beer hall but now it is a church.

Despite being unusual, ZMCC is not an isolated case. In South Africa, Gabola church believes its congregation connects with God through consuming large amounts of alcohol during services.

Easter Friday Church Shooting: 10-year-old undergoes surgery https://www.adomonline.com/easter-friday-church-shooting-10-year-old-undergoes-surgery/ Wed, 20 Apr 2022 09:13:36 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2106578 On Good Friday, an Easter Convention at the Heaven Embassy Chapel was disrupted by four armed men who blocked three entries to the church auditorium.

Over seventy people, mostly indigenes of Atwima Afrancho, were held hostage for about thirty minutes as the robbers demanded their personal belongings.

“All we heard was an order for the lights to be put off. On the third command, they shot into the congregation. The shots fired injured some children here but we didn’t know. One of the robbers started walking through the church auditorium, taking money and phones of congregants”, Prophet Bernard Appiah Fobi, one of the preachers invited for the event explained.

The Easter Convention had brought many to the church for the first time.

Atwima Afrancho Church Attach Injured

Maame Ama, a ten-year-old, has undergone a surgical operation to correct the injury on the leg sustained through the shootings.

Rev. Newton explains she was shot in both legs.

“Her leg got broken, a bullet went through the leg. It was very dangerous. It took us a lot of courage to carry her to the hospital. We all thought the leg would be severed”, he said.

About two hundred metres from the church lives twelve-year-old Juliana Amankwaah.  She sits on a bench, surrounded by her family.

Just below the knee, a bandage covers the injury sustained from the shooting.

“When I touched it I could feel my flesh, it was a deep wound. The skin was off, as if it has been bitten by an animal”, little Juliana narrates.

Her mother, a farmer, is forced to abandon her daily routine on the farm to cater for her distraught daughter.

Abena Konadu, who was also at the church, is traumatized by the incident.

“I would have gone to the farm to find some food for my kids, due to the injury she sustained I can’t leave her. In the evening, I feel they are going to come back. I am afraid”, she said.

From the toe to the thigh, 13-year-old Angelina Obeng is wrapped in bandage rendering her immobile.

Pellets of bullets were picked from the wound sustained from the shooting.

After being shot, Angelina had to run a distance through the bushes for fear that the robbers were lurking around.

“Immediately the robbers left, someone raised an alarm that they were coming back so we all run into the bush. I further sustained some injuries”, she said.

Her grandmother, Margaret Opoku is traumatized and worried about how to cater for the injured granddaughter.

“Her mother died eight months ago so she is stuck with me. Her father hasn’t been here for a long time”, she said.

Mother of seven, Christiana Agyei sits in front of her room with her in-law, Rashida Issaka. Both are victims of the incident. Rashida is three months pregnant.

She says aside from the injury sustained through the shooting, she feels a sharp pain throughout her body after a man fell on her in the rush to carry through orders of the armed robbers.

“After we were shot, they ordered us to lie down. Unfortunately for me, I fell and some people fell on me. That is what has affected me. The wound I sustained from the gun shots isn’t that bad”, she said.

Christiana has to put her kenkey business on hold to heal her injury on one leg.

“Whenever I am alone, I feel their presence. I am afraid”, she said.

An amount of over five thousand cedis have gone into medical bills, all paid by the church.

But the church may not be able to raise more money to cater for the affected persons.

Meanwhile, Atwima Kwanwoma District Police Command is investigating the incident.

Kasoa: Human skull and cat head exhumed at church altar https://www.adomonline.com/kasoa-human-skull-and-cat-head-exhumed-at-church-altar/ Fri, 08 Apr 2022 16:23:45 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2102468 A human skull and cat head have been exhumed at the altar of the Christ Charismatic Convention at Kasoa in the Central Region.

The General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Billy Sunday, told the media in an interview that he rented the church premises from a landlord after it had been used by another church.

“A few months ago, I arrived at Kasoa and rented the property from a landlord who told me the place was initially being occupied by another pastor. Ever since I rented the place, all my church members vanished at once and I could not understand what the situation was, so I started praying about it,” he narrated.

According to Pastor Dr. Billy Sunday, he had a vision that led him to dig the church altar.

“The old pastor had already constructed a concrete pulpit so we decided to dismantle it. As we were digging, we saw the skull of a child and the head of a cat. We prayed and exhumed the skull.”

The pastor indicated that what they saw shocked the entire leadership of the church.

Pastor Sunday is attributing the burial of the skull at the altar to the dwindling membership of his church.

According to him, he, together with his leaders, later prayed over the exhumed skulls and burnt them.

“These are spiritual matters, the skull and cat head were evil, more so, there was life in them so we could not wait but to burn them. But I have informed the police about the issue and investigations have begun,” he added.

Pastor Billy Sunday adds that he is currently assisting the police to apprehend the pastor whom he suspects to have engaged in the act

He advised occultic people who are professing to be men of God to desist from hiding behind the Bible.

“There are so many pastors in Ghana who are into occultism and it is not helping the work of God. We must come together as a country and expose all of them,” he concluded.

Additionally, the Rock Star excluded himself from people who tow the lifestyles of their pastors because “pastors are not like God.”

When he was queried on his religious background, Kuami Eugene simply said, we have to follow the life of Christ. The pastors are not like God. We cannot emulate them. My pastor will not judge me with God. He will also be in line for us to be judged.

The Chiangwa security guards tried to enter the premises and they were dispersed by dogs.

“After that, the Chiangwa faction’s security guards phoned their command section which deployed reinforcements. One of these reinforcements fired the shots. The case of assault was reported to Marlborough Police Station by the Chiangwa guards and the Madawo faction’s security guards also made a counter report of the shooting. Her mother, who is a Baptist Church member, claims her daughter is not a member and that there was no activity in the church on the day of the incident.

She added, however, that after a while, some construction workers of the uncompleted church building alerted her that Akosua was lying in a pool of blood.

Residents who spoke to Adom News suspect foul play, believing she was lured into the building by her killer.

Don’t breach new Covid directives – Christian Council appeals to church leaders https://www.adomonline.com/dont-breach-new-covid-directives-christian-council-appeals-to-church-leaders/ Sun, 07 Feb 2021 10:27:52 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1916171 The Christian Council of Ghana has appealed to Christians to observe the fresh Covid-19 safety restrictions in churches.

This is in reaction to the new restrictions on social events imposed by President Nana Akufo-Addo as a result of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

The announcement of these restrictions includes ban on weddings and funerals amidst hosts of interventions to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

In a statement issued on Sunday, February 7, 2021, calling for the strict adherence to all prescribed precautionary etiquettes against the virus in churches, the Christian Council outlined guidelines aimed at clarifying and throwing more light on the President’s new directive on social gatherings.

According to the statement, “worship services are permitted to continue and church leaders are entreated to enforce, to the letter, the protocols relating to attendance, i.e, maximum duration of two hours, one meter social distancing, wearing of masks, hand washing under running water and soap, and use of sanitisers and disinfection of surfaces.”

On the issue of marriages and burial services held in churches, the Christian Council clarified that such services are permitted to be held but under strict Covid-19 protocols.

However, the statement noted that burial or interment itself must be private, which means, it must be limited to 25 persons as directed by the President.

The statement further clarified that “it is the after celebrations such as receptions, parties, dancing, eating etc that have been banned.”

The Council urged all churches and all church leaders to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocols outlined above to help halt the spread of the virus.

Below is the statement:

PASTORAL LETTER

TO ALL ECUMENICAL BODIES AND MEMBER CHURCHES

February 7, 2021

Beloved in Christ,

CLARIFICATION AND ADHERENCE TO THE PRESIDENT’S DIRECTIVES ON COVID 19

We bring you greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Following the 23rd update by His Excellency the President and subsequent clarification of the restrictions on weddings and funerals by the Minister Designate for Information, the following is the understanding of the President’s directives by the leadership of the Christian community:
1. That worship services are permitted to continue and church leaders are entreated to enforce, to the letter, the protocols relating to attendance, ie, maximum duration of two hours, one meter social distancing, wearing of masks, hand washing under running water and soap, and use of sanitisers and disinfection of surfaces.
2. That marriages and burial services, which are held in churches under strict Covid protocols are permitted. It is the after celebrations such as receptions, parties, dancing, eating etc that have been banned.
3. That the burial or interment itself must be private, which means, it must be limited to twenty-five (25) persons.

As we have done with distinction in the past, we urge all churches and all church leaders to adhere strictly to the Covid protocols outlined above to help curb the spread of the virus. Any church that does not comply to the protocols will be closed down and the leaders sanctioned according to law.

Let us continue to pray for all front-liners in the fight against Covid, for healing of the sick and for the eradication of Covid.

The Lord bless you.

Signed
Most Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo,
Chairman, National Ecumenical Leaders, Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana and Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana.

Some 62 persons were believed to be conducting a prayer service after hours of fasting when the building, still uncompleted after 28 years of its construction, collapsed.

The congregants were said to have held strict fasting and prayers for their leader, Prophet Akuwa Isaac, who is down with an ailment.

A witness and a church member, who spoke to Adom News, said a snake was seen emerging from the ground floor and an alarm was sounded for the men to assist in its killing.

Why I don’t go to church – Actress reveals https://www.adomonline.com/why-i-dont-go-to-church-actress-reveals/ Fri, 31 Jul 2020 10:43:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1834514 Kumawood actress, Christiana Awuni, has revealed she has stopped going to church though she is a Christian.

The actress believes it is a waste of time since God listens to her prayers regardless of the venue, adding controversies surrounding some pastors have also affected her decision.

“I’m a Christian and I have taken Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour. I pray but I don’t go to church. I decided not to go but have been to a lot of churches,” she said in an interview on Accra-based radio station.

She was optimistic she has the capacity to pray just like a pastor, who is her fellow human being.

“To me, there is no need going to church because I know that if I go on my knees and pray, God will listen and He does listen.

“In my view, the pastor is a human being like me. The same way God uses him, he can also use me so why should I waste my time in church,” she added.
