It is not prostate cancer but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, but according to a palace statement, the King began “regular treatments” on Monday.

Buckingham Palace says the King “remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible”.

He will postpone his public engagements and it is expected other senior royals will help to stand in for him during his treatment.

No further details are being shared on the stage of cancer or a prognosis.

The King, 75, returned to London from Sandringham in Norfolk on Monday morning and the palace says he has commenced treatment as an outpatient.

Although he will pause his public events, the King will continue with his constitutional role as head of state, including paperwork and private meetings.

He was seen at a church service in Sandringham on Sunday, where he waved to crowds.

He had a prostate procedure at a private London hospital more than a week ago.

The King had chosen to go public about his prostate treatment, with the aim of encouraging more men to get prostate checks, the palace said at the time.

He was said to have been delighted to have raised awareness about the issue, with the NHS website reporting a surge in issues about prostate conditions.

For many types of cancer, the chance of getting it increases with age. UK figures suggest, on average each year, more than a third (36%) of new cancer cases were in people aged 75 and over.

While speaking with Oprah about the conversation over their son Archie’s title, Meghan said there were “concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he’s born.” She said it would be “damaging” to reveal who had voiced those concerns. 

Harry later confirmed that a conversation about Archie’s skin colour did take place, but said he wasn’t comfortable sharing specific details.

Following the couple’s explosive interview, the Palace released an official statement, saying, “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”

The couple were caught having sexual activity just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace despite a lockdown.

Onlookers were shocked by the incident involving the unknown man and woman at the St James’s Park, just metres away from Birdcage Walk.

Although police were able to spot them, the couple quickly escaped even before the police officers could make any move on them, The Sun reported.

An onlooker told the Sun that “The Queen would have been outraged — they were at it like rabbits in the shadow of Buckingham Palace.”

“Families and joggers went past as they went at it but they didn’t give a damn who saw them,” the cyclist added.

He continued to say that “I was surprised nothing was done during lockdown because they were clearly very close to the pavement.”
