According to Rex Omar, the primary reason is in the fundamental purpose of the show.

He explained that, Britain’s Got Talent is designed to discover and promote British talents on a global stage, not necessarily talents from other countries, including Ghana.

This focus on British participants means that non-British contestants face an inherent disadvantage.

Rex Omar emphasized the need for Ghana to invest in its own creative economy.

He suggested that, Ghana should establish platforms such as “Ghana’s Got Talent” to unearth and promote local talents across various creative fields.

These fields include music, fashion, film, design, publishing, architecture, crafts, visual arts, TV and radio, advertising, literature, computer games, and the performing arts.

He highlighted that until Ghana prioritizes and pays attention to its creative economy, the country will continue to lag behind in the global cultural arena.

Rex Omar referred to this as “cultural warfare,” stressing the importance of nurturing and promoting homegrown talents to achieve recognition and success on an international level.

Company behind Britain’s Got Talent sued https://www.adomonline.com/company-behind-britains-got-talent-sued/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 15:51:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2299025 David Walliams has filed a High Court case against the production company that makes ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

The action against FremantleMedia is listed as dealing with data protection. No other details have been given.

The actor, comedian, and author was a judge on the show from 2012 to 2022.

Last November, he admitted making “disrespectful comments” about two contestants during filming in 2020.

He apologised and said that the remarks “were never intended to be shared”.

The Guardian reported that a leaked transcript seen by the newspaper showed he had made derogatory and sexually explicit remarks about contestants during the recording of an episode of the talent show in January 2020.

In a statement at the time, the TV personality said: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.

“These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

Thames TV, which is part of FremantleMedia, said the company regarded Walliams’ comments as private, but that his use of language was “inappropriate”.

David Walliams was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent between 2012 and 2022

This January, Fremantle announced that former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli would join Britain’s Got Talent for its 2023 series, effectively replacing Walliams.

Walliams remains one of the country’s most successful entertainment figures. He rose to fame alongside Matt Lucas on BBC comedy Little Britain.

During his time on Britain’s Got Talent, he won the prize for best judge at the National Television Awards in 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

He has also enjoyed success as a best-selling author with books including Gangsta Granny and The Boy in the Dress.

The legal case has been filed under Walliams’ real name David Edward Williams. His spokesperson has been asked for comment.

FremantleMedia declined to comment. One of the country’s biggest TV production companies, the company produces Family Fortunes, QI and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, as well as Britain’s Got Talent.

Britain’s Got Talent star Jonathan Goodwin paralysed https://www.adomonline.com/britains-got-talent-star-jonathan-goodwin-paralysed/ Wed, 04 May 2022 13:31:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2111202 Escapologist Jonathan Goodwin, 42, has been left paralysed after an accident, his fiancée Amanda Abbington has said.

The Sherlock actress said he nearly died twice after last year’s accident during rehearsals for America’s Got Talent: Extreme.

She said the stunt ace, who appeared in the 2019 season of Britain’s Got Talent, now uses a wheelchair.

He was supposed to escape a strait jacket while upside down 30ft in the air in between two suspended cars.

Instead, Mr Goodwin became crushed between them as they caught on fire.

Ms Abbington, 48, told Jay Rayner’s Out To Lunch podcast: “He fell 30ft and lost a kidney, broke both shoulder blades, shattered both legs.

“Third-degree burns, broke his spine and severed his spinal cord and nearly died. And then on the operating table, he nearly died again.”

“Unless there’s a kind of stem cell surgery, or that thing that Elon Musk is designing with the little chip, he’ll be like that forever,” she said.

Mr Goodwin, originally from Pembrokeshire, has remained “positive and upbeat, and so strong,” she added.

“His courage and his strength is something that I just aspire to be like.

“He’s just incredible, honestly, like so happy, just like a very happy, positive human being, just liquid sunshine. He’s amazing.”

He told her he loved her and thanked her for the past few months of his life with her.

The couple were initially friends on social media for about 10 years. Abbington followed him as her son Joe thought his act was “amazing”.

At first, Ms Abbington said, they spent hours chatting on the phone each day before he flew to Vienna to meet her for the first time.

Within 30 minutes, Mr Goodwin proposed. The couple plan to marry this summer.
