At Kyebi in the Abuakwa South Constituency of the Eastern Region, Mr. Kufuor made his first appearance on the campaign stage for the 2024 elections.

It was a joint appearance with the NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to solicit votes as the elections draw closer.

According to the former President, he has taken time to listen to all 12 candidates on the ballot and that none of them reason the way Dr. Bawumia does in terms of innovative policies to solve daily problems.

He urged the youth to support Bawumia to enable him to implement his agenda to train them in 1 million digital jobs.

“I have been paying attention. Bawumia’s policies, particularly his focus on training the youth in entrepreneurial and digital skills, are good. If you don’t want this, what do you want? So I plead with you, he is not just coming for the NPP but for the whole country.

“He is coming for an inclusive government. His policies will alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians. I have listened to all those talking about their policies, but I haven’t seen anyone with policies as good as Bawumia’s,” he stated.

The NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, reminded the people that it was Kufuor who laid a solid foundation at a time when the country was on its knees.

This same foundation, he said, has been built upon by President Akufo-Addo, and Dr. Bawumia will continue to build on it.

Bawumia can’t implement his policies because he is not President – Osae-Kwapong https://www.Adomonline.com/bawumia-cant-implement-his-policies-because-he-is-not-president-osae-kwapong/ Sat, 24 Aug 2024 13:56:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2438298 A Democracy and Development Fellow at CDD-Ghana, John Osae-Kwapong, says it is understandable for the Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to outline different policies he intends to implement should he be voted into power.

This, according to him, is because the various administrations of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have pursued different policies over the years, despite being from the same political party.

Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, August 24, Mr Osae-Kwapong explained that while the core principles and ideas of the NPP may have remained consistent, each government has implemented distinct policies.

He said that although Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is currently the Vice President and part of the administration responsible for the existing policies, they were enacted under President Akufo-Addo’s tenure.

Mr Osae-Kwapong further explained that as the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Bawumia may have a different approach to policy implementation, even though he is part of the same party.

“It is the NPP’s manifesto that will be implemented under a Bawumia presidency so I don’t necessarily expect that all of the things under an Akufo-Addo presidency will repeat itself under a Bawumia presidency,” he said.

The CDD-Ghana Fellow argued that Dr Bawumia has been in a challenging position regarding some policy implementations.

He emphasised that the Vice President cannot implement those policies because it is not his presidency, but noted that if he sees some of those policies differently, he may have a different approach to them.

“He’s the Vice President. I know that the narrative has come up that, ‘well, you are Vice President and part of the government – why don’t you do all of these things’? Realistically, it’s not his administration.

“Yes, he has a voice, he can give an input but it is not his presidency and so even if he wants some things done, ultimately he can’t do it,” Mr Osae-Kwapong explained.

He stated that it is President Akufo-Addo’s administration that sets the priorities and while Dr Bawumia may disagree with some ideas, he can only implement his ideas fully under his administration.

“An Akufo-Addo presidency has a different set of policy priorities than a Bawumia presidency would have. I’m sure there would be some policy continuity like Free SHS but he also wants to implement some of his own ideas,” he added.

How can Ghanaians trust a leader with no plans for…. – Haruna Iddrisu on Bawumia’s policies https://www.Adomonline.com/how-can-ghanaians-trust-a-leader-with-no-plans-for-haruna-iddrisu-on-bawumias-policies/ Fri, 09 Feb 2024 20:56:36 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2354020

Tamale South Member of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu says Ghanaians cannot accept a presidential aspirant who launches his policies for the nation without including plans for the agricultural sector.

According to him, the agricultural sector employs more than half of the country’s population, therefore for an individual seeking to lead the nation, with no plans to expand that sector, it is a cause for concern.

Examining Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s speech on Wednesday when he outlined his vision for the country and appealed to be elected President, Haruna wondered “How can any Ghanaian accept a president who launches what he calls Ghana’s next chapter, Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future without a comment on Agriculture, which is the thrust and future of the Ghanaians economy?

“In terms of export, you will be dependent on agriculture. In terms of the success of your manufacturing sector, you depend on agriculture. Sixty per cent of your employment is in agriculture.

“You deliver a policy blueprint on Ghana. I am wondering whether this speech was meant for Ghana or another country. Maybe some desert country where there is no opportunity to farm.”

On February 7, Dr Bawumia addressed the nation outlining his plans for the nation. His vision ranged from abolishing the electronic transactions levy to offering tax amnesty to businesses, among other policies.

However, Mr Iddrisu asserts that the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer’s failure to outline plans for the agricultural sector is worrying and cannot be overlooked.
