According to Boako, losing one election should not mark the end of a politician’s career.

“The downfall of a man is never the end of his life. He is not the first to lose an election. Others tried, failed, but continued with determination until they won. He believes that if others succeeded after several attempts, he can also succeed, with God on his side,” Boako said.

Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, Dr. Boako, who also serves as Technical Advisor and Spokesperson to Dr. Bawumia, highlighted that many Ghanaian political leaders, including John Agyekum Kufuor, John Atta Mills, Nana Akufo-Addo, and John Mahama, experienced electoral setbacks before eventually becoming president.

Boako argued that rather than discouraging Dr. Bawumia, the NPP should support him, emphasizing that persistence has always been key to political success in Ghana.

“He equally believes that, if Kufuor tried once, twice, and made it; Akufo-Addo tried multiple times and made it; Mills tried multiple times and made it; and John Mahama also tried multiple times and made it, why should he sit back?

“He also thinks God will be on his side. He will try again, and he can make it such that he can deliver to Ghana what he thinks God has given him,” he added.

Bawumia thanks NPP MPs for flagbearer endorsement https://www.adomonline.com/bawumia-thanks-npp-mps-for-flagbearer-endorsement/ Thu, 19 Jun 2025 19:51:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2546466 Former Vice President and 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed immense gratitude to a group of NPP Members of Parliament who have declared their support for him to be retained as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.

On Thursday morning, about 67 MPs called on Dr. Bawumia at his office in Accra to formally declare their backing.

Speaking to the media after the visit, Dr. Bawumia described the gesture as a “strong show of support” from key stakeholders within the party, particularly at the grassroots level.

“It was a visit from our Members of Parliament and I think that it was a very happy visit—a courtesy call and a declaration of support for me. I’m so happy. The group from Parliament that has declared support for me now amounts to over 60 Members of Parliament. And you know we have 88 MPs, so that tells you that a very significant number have declared their support,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“This is a strong show of support and I thank them, and I thank God for this. Off we go.”

He emphasized the importance of the MPs’ endorsement, pointing out their influence across constituencies.

“I believe that this is going to be very important because Members of Parliament, as you know, control the constituencies to a large extent—and I’m very happy for what they’ve done today.”

While expressing his appreciation, Dr. Bawumia also urged the MPs to roll up their sleeves and get to work to help both the NPP and the nation.

“Off we go. There is a lot of hard work to be done to help the party and to help the country,” he added.

Let’s give Bawumia another chance in 2028 – NPP Youth Organiser [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/lets-give-bawumia-another-chance-in-2028-npp-youth-organiser-video/ Thu, 23 Jan 2025 17:53:16 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2496442 The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Salam Mustapha has called on the rank and file to present former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its candidate for the 2028 elections.

According to him, no presidential candidate has won the general election on a first attempt and it’s only fair for Dr Bawumia to be given a second chance.

Mustapha said this on Asemp FM Ekosii Sen while commenting on the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 election.

He stated that the party did its best but it is unfortunate victory did not go in their favour.

“No candidate has gone on the first shot and won it. So Dr Bawumia still gives the NPP the best shot despite the outcome of the 2024 election.

“We have researched and doing a lot of work going forward. It is heartbreaking to lose an election but the courage to come back is what makes the difference,” he said.

Mustapha cited there are historic trends, citing former Presidents John Kufuor, Akufo-Addo late Atta Mills.

“Generally we did not perform. Can you imagine NPP losing Sekondi, Akrofrom, Adansi Asokwa? We only gained 7 seats in the Ashanti region. It is an abnormal election,” he stated.

President Mahama secured an overwhelming victory in the 2024 election with 6,328,397, constituting 56.55% while Dr Bawumia polled 4,657,304 votes, comprising 41.61%.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) not only secured the presidency but also achieved a commanding majority in Parliament, capturing over 180 seats, including key constituencies that were previously NPP strongholds.

The NPP has since attributed its defeat to low voter turnout and apathy among its supporters.
