He believes the President has done well, but should focus more on what people really need, especially in his last months in office.

Sidney believes if he had the chance to speak with the President, he would ask him to listen to the youth and everyone else and fulfill their needs.

He indicated that, though government has embarked on massive projects like interchanges, he said smaller projects like fixing a bridge could touch the hearts of residents in many communities

“If I were to meet President Akufo-Addo personally, my only request to him would be to listen more attentively and address the needs of Ghanaians. While he has achieved much and continues to do so, in his final months in office, it’s crucial for him to prioritize listening to the concerns of the youth and all citizens, thereby fulfilling the promises made.

“For example, while the government might be focusing on constructing large interchanges, there could be Ghanaians in communities who have been requesting the repair of a bridge for a long time without any action being taken. I believe that by paying attention to these seemingly small issues, the President can better serve the people and ensure their happiness” he said.

He made this known in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday.

When asked if he regrets supporting Akufo-Addo during his campaign, he said no, because he loved his policies at the time.

Sidney also stressed the need for young people to join politics to express their opinions peacefully.

BARIMA SYDNEY ON NPP

After composing back-to-back hit songs including ‘Tinana,’ African Money,’ ‘Apuskeleke,’ ‘Papa No,’  ‘Awuchie Kpongor,’ during the early 2000s, the musician went on a hiatus.

His last song, ‘Papa No’ exacerbated his situation, according to Barima Sidney, who claimed he received harsh criticism from industry players and social media users. Coming in the heat of the 2020 general elections in Ghana, many Ghanaians ascribed the song to ex-President John Dramani Mahama.

Barima Sidney has returned with a new single titled ‘BBF,’ which he says is a way to console himself. The track features Kumasi-based rapper, King Paluta.

The ‘African Money’ hitmaker says he is back for ‘good’ and will refrain from composing politically inclined and controversial songs.

Barima Sidney apologises to Mahama [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/barima-sidney-apologises-to-mahama-video/ Wed, 15 May 2024 18:54:28 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2395497 Ghanaian hiplife recording artiste, Sidney Kofi Ofori popularly called Barima Sidney has rendered an apology to ex-President John Dramani Mahama for releasing his track ‘Papa No’ three years ago.

According to him, the song was not intended for Mr. Mahama, as many Ghanaians claimed.

Many partly blamed the song for the former President’s defeat in the 2020 elections.

Explaining how the song came about, Barima Sidney said it was inspired by a social media trend during that period.

He emphasised that nobody was a target, as he was simply doing a song to entertain his fans.

However, some individuals inserted Mr. Mahama’s pictures onto the track, and the musician clarified that he was unaware of it.

“I heard two ladies conversing on social media about ‘Papa No’ and we all know those two celebrities, Gloria Kani and Tracey Boakye. So, when I heard of Papa No, I was like, this is very interesting. Let me just work on something. So, I just went to the studio one night from 12 to 7 a.m.; we just released it, and by 9:00, it was all over.

“So, I didn’t have anybody in mind, but then some people gathered some rashes of the former president and put it behind the music, and they were using it to promote their own stuff. So, at the end of the day, people thought it was me. I had no idea.”

As a result, Barima Sidney, during an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show on Wednesday, apologised to the NDC flagbearer for any harm caused.

“I’ll take this opportunity to apologise to the former President John Mahama. I mean, it wasn’t about him, and I was not the one who did those videos and rashes that circulated on social media. ‘Papa No’ goes to everybody,” the musician pleaded.

The ‘African Money’ hitmaker also revealed that, he voted for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020 because he believed in Akufo-Addo’s policies and trusted they would improve Ghana’s economy.

He added that, he has no regrets voting for the NPP and commended President Akufo-Addo for implementing the Free SHS policy.

He pleaded that it should not be scrapped by any party that may assume power in the upcoming election later this year.

Nevertheless, Barima Sidney said he is yet to decide on which political party to vote for, as he is waiting to listen to the manifestoes of all parties before taking his decision.

Wendy Shay in an interview on Okay FM asserted her innocence and expressed her readiness to go to court to defend her position.

The controversy arose when fans noted similarities in the titles and lyrics of both songs, sparking online discussions and accusations of song theft.

Wendy Shay, however, maintained that, she did not copy Barima Sidney’s music without permission.

To debunk the claims, Wendy Shay said she sampled both songs on the same beat to prove that the progressions in the two tracks were indeed different.

Wendy Shay said the allegation of song theft being levelled against her is because of her dominance in the Ghana music industry.

I’m not inspired to do a diss song against NPP govt yet – Barima Sidney https://www.adomonline.com/im-not-inspired-to-do-a-diss-song-against-npp-govt-yet-barima-sidney/ Mon, 01 Aug 2022 15:57:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2144350 AFRICA Money, Donkomi and Enko Yie are songs Hiplife musician Barima Sidney had dissed previous regimes with when the going got tough for the country, but he has been unusually quiet in recent times despite the harsh economic conditions.

He is, however, serving notice he could spring a surprise with a song to highlight the current socio-economic issues when he gets the inspiration to do so.

According to him, he has kept quiet not because he is unaware of the challenges the country is going through, but he is yet to get the inspiration to come out with such a song.

Talking about his silence, Barima Sidney said: “I don’t just get up to do songs. I won’t if I don’t have the inspiration. I don’t just release songs because people want me to.

“It’s true, I need to say something, but I am waiting for the inspiration. Anything can happen anytime. I can come out with a song anytime. I am unpredictable.

“Secondly, I endorsed this administration. I admit that times are hard, but I still have hope that something good can be done. If the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a sinking ship, I won’t jump out, I will help them get out of the storm.

“I still have hope that they can turn things around,” he told the Graphic Showbiz on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

Barima Sidney also debunked the impression the government has bought his silence with a huge sum of money. ‘’No one has paid me to be quiet. I am unpredictable. Anything can happen at anytime.”

Moving away from political diss songs, Barima Sidney shared his thoughts on the current music scene, saying, “Due to social media, the world will get to hear of you when you put out something good.

“The young crop of artistes are doing very well. Look at Black Sherif for instance, he is all over the place on the international scene.

“The young musicians who have come up are really taking advantage of technology to do brilliant stuff, and it is good. I am really happy for them and proud of them. It tells you the abundance of talents the country is blessed with,’’ he stated.

Barima Sidney just returned from the United Kingdom where he performed at this year’s Party In The Park, and he gave his assessment of the show, Party In The Park is one of the biggest shows I have done in recent times.

“The likes of Camidoh, Gyakie, Kelvyn Boy and Darko Vibes were all billed to perform. Honestly, I was a bit ‘scared’ before I went on stage because I thought the fans there have forgotten about me, but when I stepped on stage I realised they had really missed me.

“It was really electrifying; Ofori Amponsah and KK Fosu were also there, and we had such an amazing time. It was really a spectacular show,’’ he said.

Barima Sidney released a song recently titled Putin, “I featured Screwface on the song, but we are yet to start serious promotion. We will soon,” he added.

Kuami Eugene approached me for ‘African Money’ remix but his manager said it’s political – Sidney reveals [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/kuami-eugene-approached-me-for-african-money-remix-but-his-manager-said-its-political-sidney-reveals-video/ Fri, 10 Sep 2021 15:41:47 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2013346 Ghanaian highlife artiste, Barima Sidney, says he was surprised when Kuami Eugene declined to feature on his popular ‘African Money’ hit song.

According to Sidney, the Lynx Entertainment signee approached him to remake his ‘African Money’ hit song that took over the airwaves since its release in 2011.

Sidney said he had to start chasing Kuami Eugene for the collaboration because he wasn’t responding to him days after the request.

Sidney, however, said when he approached Kuami Eugene’s manager, he said the remix won’t happen because the song is too political.

According to Sidney, what pained him the most was that he had had requests from music stars such as Magic System of Premier Gaou and Freddie Mieway but he declined until Kuami Eugene came through.

MORE:

Sometimes you have to be careful doing a remix because it’s either you flop or not..… when you get the idea you don’t rush into it… but Kuami Eugene approached and I bought into his idea, he explained on Bryt TV.

Now when you reach out to him then he will be running away. Finally, his manager told me that he is afraid because the song is political.

I asked him to do the beat and now it looked like I am the one chasing him. Sometimes people think we don’t wanna collaborate with these guys but when we tell you what happens behind the scenes, you will marvel, Sidney told the host.

I believe in Jesus Christ not God – Barima Sidney [Video https://www.adomonline.com/i-believe-in-jesus-christ-not-god-barima-sidney-video/ Sat, 21 Aug 2021 16:23:05 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2003121 Ghanaian musician, Barima Sidney, says he doesn’t believe in the concept of God.

According to him, though he is a true believer of Jesus Christ he is not a Christian.

I am a true believer of Christ but I am not a Christian. Everyone can be a Christian but a believer has the Holy Spirit… I don’t mention God, I only mention Christ Jesus…, he said in an interview on TVXYZ.

The Our Money hitmaker, who is known for dropping songs to tackle socio-political happenings in the country, further explained that, a lot of Christians misunderstand the concept of Trinity.

I don’t use God… I use Christ Jesus… Which father? It is the same Jesus Christ. Are you saying there are three thrones in Heaven? It is only one and it is Jesus sitting on it… He is just one person…, he said.

MORE:

Explaining further, Sidney said: Before, Jesus used to deal with us directly and it didn’t help so he came down in a form of flesh and he left when he was done with his work – leaving the Holy Spirit to operate.

According to Sidney, he was preached to and convinced by her spiritual mother, Prophetess Barbara Amoako, the leader of Thank God for Christ Prayer Ministry.

He, however, mentioned the founder and leader of the Parliament Chapel International formerly Freedom Chapel as his spiritual father who guides him whenever the time is apt.

I say Jesus because the Bible says no one goes to the father except through him. Have you heard someone mention God when an accident is about to happen? Now we are all left with the Holy Spirit…, he said.
