Andre and his younger brother Jordan despite their recent fine form at their clubs have missed the last two Black Stars call-ups.
They missed out on the team that faced Uganda and Saudi Arabia last month and were again not invited for the final World Cup qualifier against Egypt.
Many are of the view that the technical team headed by coach Appiah were not enthused with the Ayews following their decision not to travel with Black Stars for their World Cup qualifier against Congo two months ago.
West Ham United star Andre claimed he had suffered an injury after the first leg in Kumasi and withdrew while Jordan of Swansea City ejected himself from the squad after claiming he had food poisoning.
‘’That he has closed the doors to the Ayew brothers, I think that perception should also be worked on.
‘’Whether you like it or not I can tell you for a fact that those boys are good, they are very good.’’ the Member of Parliament told Joy Sports
‘’Sometimes the way to play them and how to play them is the problem, but (you can never), I will never accept anybody who will convince me that somebody like Dede does not deserve to be in our team, he adds something to our team.
‘’Apart from his personal attributes, his tenacity in a game is very important. It inspires others, he fights. That is what we want.

“There are thousands of Ghanaian players I can select from”- Coach Appiah https://www.adomonline.com/thousands-ghanaian-players-can-select-coach-appiah/ https://www.adomonline.com/thousands-ghanaian-players-can-select-coach-appiah/#comments Sun, 01 Oct 2017 10:05:37 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=539041 Black Stars coach, James Kwesi Appiah, has said that the team is not only about the Ayew’s and that in his bid to build a strong team for the future “there are thousands of Ghanaian players I can select from.”

Coach Appiah announced a 26-man squad for the must-win encounter against the Red Devils in Kampala without the experienced duo.

In an interview with the GNA Sports on Friday, he explained that his exclusion of Dede Ayew and Jordan Ayew from the squad to face Uganda in a FIFA World Cup was qualifier in Kampala on October 7 was to give opportunities to other equally good players.

The coach invited seven debutants, including two home-based players to augment his squad, as Ghana faces a herculean task of qualifying to the Mundial for the fourth consecutive time.

According to him, he wants to build a formidable team for the future; hence the dropping of the two England based players.

He said “we know the calibre of Dede and Jordan Ayew already and if we want to build a team for the future, then we need to give other players the chance to also prove themselves.”

When asked whether the duo’s exclusion from the squad was a result of dip in form, he said “no, they are playing well.”

The coach came under a barrage of criticisms from a section of the Ghanaian populace over his decision to drop the duo because of a feud between Appiah and the father of the Ayew’s over captaincy issues in 1992.

He however debunked the rumours saying, “this has nothing to do with that because there’s no issue.”

Ghana lies third in Group E with five points behind Egypt 9 and Uganda 7, with Congo lying at the bottom with 1 point after four matches played.

Kwesi Appiah has stabbed me in the back – Ayew https://www.adomonline.com/kwesi-appiah-stabbed-back-ayew/ https://www.adomonline.com/kwesi-appiah-stabbed-back-ayew/#comments Fri, 29 Sep 2017 08:27:34 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=534571 Coach of the senior national team, Black Stars, James Kwesi Appiah is being accused of deliberately haunting the Ayew brothers out of the team.

Uncle of the young boys, Sola Ayew said the coach excluded Dede and Jordan Ayew from the team due to jealousy.

Kwesi Appiah announced a 26-man squad for the must-win encounter against the Red Devils in Kampala without the experienced duo.

He explained that, their exclusion is to give the chance to other players to fight for places in the squad is the key reason behind the decision to leave out the premier league stars.

This is because the Ayews have made a combined 121 appearances for the senior national team. Andre has scored 14 goals while Jordan has 12.

But Sola Ayew on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports show said Akwesi Appiah has stabbed him in the back.

According to him, he fought his own family to defend the Black Stars coach thus did not expect him to pay him back this way.

“Akwesi Appiah should shut up [because] his explanation is bogus. I fought for you and you stab me in the back?” he quizzed.

Sola Ayew said though his nephews will one day quit playing for the national team, “they should go the right way”.

Sola Ayew is certain Akwesi Appiah hatred for the Ayew family has been exposed by this action.

“Akwesi Appiah hates the Ayew family but the Ayews we will continue to serve Ghana in spite of the machinations to get them out” he stressed.
