Kumasi Archbishop leads delegation to console Asantehene over Asantehemaa’s passing https://www.adomonline.com/kumasi-archbishop-leads-delegation-to-console-asantehene-over-asantehemaas-passing/ Thu, 14 Aug 2025 07:24:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2566891 Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Anokye, led a delegation to the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, August 13, to pray for the Asantehene and to convey his sympathy message to the King, following the demise of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The delegation also visited the Asantehemaa’s court to officially convey their sympathies to the family and offer prayers as well.

Born Nana Ama Konadu, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the 14th Asantehemaa and the biological sister of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Oyoko Family confirmed the passing of the second most powerful person in Asanteman to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at an emergency Asanteman Traditional Council meeting on Monday, August 11.

She became the Asantehemaa 5 years ago following the death of her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, the then Asantehemaa.

Nana Konadu Yiadom is highly respected for her loyalty and counsel, strength, and devotion to tradition, having played a critical role in the preservation of Asante culture as she guided Asanteman in support of the reign of her brother, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Her presence at the Manhyia Palace was not only a symbol of stability and unity within the royal family but also in the broader Asanteman.

Bawumia pays glowing tribute to late Asantehemaa https://www.adomonline.com/bawumia-pays-glowing-tribute-to-late-asantehemaa/ Tue, 12 Aug 2025 07:19:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2566081 Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Asantehemaa Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on Facebook on Monday, Dr. Bawumia extended his condolences to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asanteman Council, and the entire Asante people as they mourn the revered traditional leader.

“It is with a heavy heart that I join His Majesty the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asanteman Council and Asanteman in mourning the passing of our dearest Queen Mother, Asantehemaa Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III,” he wrote.

He eulogised the late Queen Mother as an enduring symbol of unity, grace, and candour, noting her steadfastness throughout her reign.

Reflecting on personal encounters, Dr. Bawumia described her as compassionate and welcoming. “Her sense of compassion and open arms received many, of whom I am proud to have been part,” he said.

He added that her words of wisdom, prayers, and encouragement were a source of strength for him over the years.

Concluding his tribute, Dr. Bawumia stated, “We have lost a mother, not just the queen mother,” before offering the traditional lament: “Ohemaa Konadu Yiadom, Due. Asanteman Damirifa Due.”

The Asantehemaa serves as co-ruler with the Asantehene, wielding both spiritual and traditional authority. Her passing marks a moment of profound loss for the Asante Kingdom and the nation.

Her one-week observance has been scheduled for August 21, 2025.
