In an exclusive interview on Prime Morning with Joy Prime’s Roselyn Felli on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the Archbishop recounted his troubled teenage years, marked by substance abuse and waywardness, which caused a major rift between him and his father, a military officer.

“My dad was a soldier in Teshie-Weija Barracks, so I grew up in the barracks. I attended Armed Forces Experimental School and later went to St. Martin’s Secondary School. In St. Martin’s, I went wild and did all kinds of things,” he confessed.

He admitted to engaging in harmful habits such as marijuana use, alcohol consumption, smoking tobacco, and chasing girls—all influenced by peer pressure.

“In Form 5 first term, I was thrown out of school for being a bad boy. If I hadn’t registered for the O’ Levels, I couldn’t have written them,” he added.

The turning point came when his father, disillusioned by his conduct, cut him off completely.

“It was so bad that my dad disowned me. He thought I was into drugs and all kinds of stuff. He felt this was not the barracks boy he raised, so he disowned me,” Archbishop Agyinasare revealed.

He explained that, at the time, he was on a personal quest for fulfilment and mistakenly believed the lifestyle he was living would fill the emptiness he felt inside.

Although his father relocated to Tamale in 1976, reconciliation came a year later when he was invited back home in 1978. Yet, the struggles didn’t end there.

“The same things that I had a problem with, that made my dad throw me out—when I came back, I continued doing them,” he admitted.

Beyond the personal rebellion, the Archbishop pointed to the early divorce of his parents as a root cause of his behavioural challenges. His parents separated when he was just seven years old—a development that left emotional scars.

“They would speak negatively about each other to us, the children. That affected me deeply,” he said.

Inspired by these experiences, Archbishop Agyinasare authored a book titled Arrows Rising, which explores how fractured families can negatively impact children, often leading to psychological issues and destructive behaviour.

The Archbishop’s candid revelations serve as a powerful reflection on the long-term effects of broken homes and the importance of healing and guidance in the formative years.

Archbishop Agyinasare calls for divine guidance ahead of December 7 polls https://www.adomonline.com/archbishop-agyinasare-calls-for-divine-guidance-ahead-of-december-7-polls/ Mon, 02 Dec 2024 08:30:06 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2477872 The Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, Presiding Bishop of the Perez Chapel International, has called for the divine guidance of God ahead of Ghana’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The Archbishop, in a worship and prayer thanksgiving joint service, reminded his congregation of God’s vested interest in the leadership of the nation.

The Archbishop Agyinasare made these declarations during the Thanksgiving service of the Church marking the first Sunday of the month of December.

The service, dedicated to the Lord’s bountiful mercies and favour, saw hundreds of believers gathered to seek divine intervention for a peaceful election, on Saturday.

Archbishop Agyin-Asare urged citizens to trust in God’s plan for the country.

Drawing inspiration from 2 Samuel 23:3, he called for prayers not only for peace but also for wisdom for the nation’s next leader.

He prayed that the elected President would receive a commanding parliamentary majority to carry out policies that benefited all citizens.

The praise service, led by Pastor Seth J. Acquah and the Reverend Evan David, was filled with heartfelt praises and worship, reflecting a collective hope for a harmonious electoral process.

For many attendees, the gathering was a reminder of the critical role faith played in shaping the nation’s future – a call for Ghanaians to remain steadfast in prayer and unity to advance Ghana’s democratic credentials.

Archbishop Agyinasare led prayers for independent Presidential candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako and Sam George Nartey, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Pampram Constituency, who are members of the church.

Archbishop Agyinasare inducted as Bible Society of Ghana President https://www.adomonline.com/archbishop-agyinasare-inducted-as-bible-society-of-ghana-president/ Mon, 02 Sep 2024 08:33:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2442391 Archbishop Dr Charles Agyinasare, founder of Perez Chapel International, was on Sunday inducted into office as the President of the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG).

Making history as the first President to have been selected from the charismatic community, he takes over from Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah, a former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost and the immediate Past President of the Society.

The Archbishop, at an induction service held for him, the newly inducted Council and Committee members of BSG at the Perez Chapel, said he accepted the role with great joy and commitment to achieving the mandate of the Bible Society of Ghana.

“As your new President, I am committed to advancing the mandate of the Bible Society of Ghana, which is to make God’s words available, affordable and actively used to transform lives,” he said.

He appealed to all churches, Christians and other para-church groups to join hands in ensuring that Bibles were translated into many languages for the word of God to be made available to homes, schools and public places.

He outlined a four-goal agenda to transform the Society.

The first is to build a self-sustaining society with the focus on creating a pool of financial and human resources through innovative ways to continue the work independently and effectively.

The second goal is to make people of substance and influence appreciate the work of the Society.

“I would work tirelessly to ensure that the Bible Society of Ghana has a seat at the table, and our voices will be heard,” he said.

The third goal is to engage every church leader to make the Bible the heart of their ministries.

The last is to promote the annual Bible Week celebration.

“I hope my role as President will allow me to contribute meaningfully to this divine mission. A mission that is more urgent ever than before. It’s a privilege, joy and sense of responsibility,” Archbishop Agyinasare said.

He commended the solid foundation laid by the past Presidents and the entire staff of the Bible Society of Ghana.

The Rt Rev Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, who delivered the induction service sermon called on Ghanaians, especially Christians to be committed to their work and nation.

He said Christians must eschew lukewarm attitudes and arrogance and exhibit humility to experience the glory of God.

Agyinasare-Nogokpo impasse: Peace Council reacts to bribery allegation https://www.adomonline.com/agyinasare-nogokpo-impasse-peace-council-reacts-to-bribery-allegation/ Mon, 30 Oct 2023 08:12:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2312031 The National Peace Council (NPC) has debunked bribery allegations by the spokesperson of the Nogokpo Traditional Council, Nufialaga Mawufemor Kobla Nornyigbey, in the impasse with Perez Chapel Founder, Bishop Charles Agyinasare.

The spokesperson, in a widely publicised report on October 26, 2023, alleged that Torgbiga Adamah III, the Paramount Chief of Some Traditional Area and President of the Some Traditional Council, had been compromised after a visit from the NPC.

Nornyigbey also reportedly called for the scrapping of the NPC, alleging that the Council’s actions did not align with the pursuit of peace.

However, the Council has, in a statement, dismissed Nornyigbey’s claims, saying they are “not only false and unsubstantiated but totally unconscionable.”

Explaining its intervention, the Peace Council said it engaged all relevant stakeholders to work out a peaceful resolution of the impasse following Agyinasare’s statement describing “Nogokpo as the demonic headquarters of the Volta Region” in May 2023.

The Council said it spoke with the chief of Nogokpo, Torgbi Saba V, on June 5, 2023, and issued him a “conflicts complaint form”, which he completed and returned on June 9, 2023.

“On June 29, 2023, led by Torgbiga Adamah III and his 13-member Traditional Council team, including Torgbi Saba V of Nogokpo and Torgbi Atsu-Gledza of Nogokpo-Agbakofe.

“Nufialaga Mawufemor Nornyigbey was absent from the meeting, which was held in an open space with over twenty people present. The Council denied meeting Torgbiga Adamah III in private or separately from the main meeting,” the statement explained.

The Council has therefore called on the spokesperson to retract and apologise for his false and damaging statements.

National Peace Council meets Somey Traditional council over Nogokpo – Agyinsare impasse https://www.adomonline.com/national-peace-council-meets-somey-traditional-council-over-nogokpo-agyinsare-impasse/ Sun, 02 Jul 2023 08:48:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2267037

A delegation from the National Peace Council (NPC), led by His Eminence Numo Blafo Akotia Omaetu III, has held a meeting with the chiefs and elders of the Somey Traditional Area.

The meeting, chaired by the Paramount Chief of the Somey Traditional Area, Torgbi Adamah III, was to deliberate on the controversy which surrounded comments made by Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, founder of the Perez Chapel International, and find lasting solutions to the impasse.

The Archbishop during a summit at the Perez auditorium in Accra, described Nogokpo as the “demonic headquarters in the Volta region.”

His comments infuriated the people of Nogokpo and the larger Volta region, some of who took to various social media platforms to criticise the respected clergyman.

Subsequently, the chiefs and elders of the town issued a two-week ultimatum to the Archbishop to withdraw his comments and render an apology to the people.

The ultimatum has long elapsed.

Torgbi Adamah said after the meeting that both the Peace Council and the Somey Traditional Council had agreed to resolve the issue amicably.

“We have communicated our position to the Peace Council, and have tasked the council to communicate that to the Archbishop. The Somey Traditional Council is giving the Archbishop a week’s ultimatum to withdraw the controversial comment and render an unqualified apology to the people of Nogokpo, the Somey Traditional Area, and the Volta region as a whole,” he said.

Torgbi Adamah added that the Traditional Council had requested its lawyers to officially write to the Archbishop about the council’s decision.

He clarified that the week’s ultimatum would begin when the Archbishop officially receives the letter from the traditional council’s lawyers.

He stressed that should the Archbishop fail to heed the traditional council’s demand for an apology, “the Somey Traditional Council would advise itself accordingly.”

The Paramount Chief said that there has always been a negative perception of the people of the Volta region which makes Archbishop Ayginasare’s comments unwelcomed

“This should not have been an issue, but the fact that the people of the region have over the years been perceived as bad people, affecting our marriages to other tribes and job opportunities, the Archbishop should not have uttered those comments in the first place.

“He is a respected and experienced man of God who should be uniting people and not passing divisive comments. He must render an apology to bring this matter to rest – we are not happy with this at all.” Torgbi Adamah said.

Numo Blafo Akotia Omaetu III, showed appreciation to the Somey Traditional Council for the warm reception and understanding.

He assured of the Peace Council’s commitment to ensuring that the issue was resolved amicably in the interest of harmony and peaceful coexistence.

Some members of the Volta Regional Peace Council, including its Chairman, Rev. Seth Kwesi Mawutor, were present at the meeting.
