He explained that, his government would focus on repaying the country’s existing debt and reclaiming natural and mineral resources currently under foreign control.

Speaking on JoyNews News Desk, Dr Ayariga said, “Once you claim it, it gives the Ghanaian government a good source of revenue. We are going to increase revenue and productivity in our country, and when we are able to increase revenue and productivity significantly, we will have enough resources to maintain this country, manage it, and start paying our debts bit by bit.”

Dr Ayariga stated that if President Mahama or Bawumia were to become president, the national debt would not be cancelled.

He said that however, if he, Hassan Ayariga, were elected, he would renegotiate the debt to cancel a portion of what the nation owes.

The APC flagbearer, emphasised that a new president represents a new government and leadership committed to building the country and achieving debt relief.

Dr Ayariga further noted that those who borrow lack economic knowledge and the fundamental skills necessary for running a business.

“My whole life as a businessman, I have never borrowed. My life as a father, I have never borrowed. My life as a young man, I have never borrowed. So, my life as President, I would not borrow. So, I will continue to invest in our productivity, in our production, manufacturing, and industrial hub to be able to create more jobs and more opportunities for our young men so that we get enough revenue and taxes.”

Make APC the third force – Ayariga tells Ghanaians https://www.adomonline.com/make-apc-the-third-force-ayariga-tells-ghanaians/ Wed, 04 Sep 2024 15:32:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2444121 The flagbearer of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, has urged Ghanaians to make the party the third force in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

According to him, although there are over 70 million registered voters, the number of actual voters at the polls is much lower.

He explained that, many Ghanaians either choose not to vote or are uninterested in voting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr. Ayariga stated that, the APC has positioned itself as an alternative for the number of Ghanaians who do not want to vote for either the NDC or the NPP and called on the public to support the APC in becoming the third force in Ghanaian politics.

“Make us the third force because we are the third force for you. You can’t sit down and think that the third force must come automatically. The third force can only come when you make that decision,” he said during the unveiling of the party’s presidential running mate on Wednesday, September 4.

He noted that APC members had already made their choice, and it is now up to the majority of Ghanaians, who are deciding between the NPP and NDC, to make their decision and elevate the APC as the third force.

“But every time we keep saying if I vote for Hassan Ayariga, I’m wasting my vote. Who said so? If you vote for Hassan Ayariga and the APC, the NDC will not win and the NPP will also not win and we would have to go for a second around,” he said.

The APC flagbearer said that if the APC makes it to the second round of the election, there is a strong possibility that the party could be voted into power.

“You know why? Because the NPP will never endorse the NDC in the second round. That will never happen in this country. Likewise, the NDC will never endorse the NPP in the second round.

“So if we are in the second round, and we are going with either NPP or NDC, we will become the government of the day,” he added.

Nigeria: Six States ask Supreme Court to cancel Presidential election https://www.adomonline.com/nigeria-six-states-ask-supreme-court-to-cancel-presidential-election/ Fri, 03 Mar 2023 13:59:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2223858 Six States of the Federation have dragged the Federal Government before the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the last February 25, 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The six states that instituted the suit through their Attorneys General are Adamawa, Akwa Ibom,, Bayelsa, Delta,Edo and Sokoto.

The suit was filed pursuant to section 6 (6)14(3)153(2) and 252 of the 1999 Constitution and inherent jurisdiction of the Apex Court.

They are asking the Supreme Court to invoke relevant provisions of the law to annul the poll based on alleged irregularities and malpractices.

The States want the apex court to declare that the pronouncement of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as winner of the February 25 presidential election and president-elect based on that election be voided by the court.

They are seeking A declaration that the entire results of the Presidential Election conducted on the 25th of February, 2023 announced by the Chairman of INEC at the National Collation Centre, Abuja, in flagrant violation of the provisions of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023, for the conduct of the Presidential Election, were invalid, null and void, and of no effect whatsoever.

A declaration that the fundamentally flawed electoral process through the non-uploading of the results of each of the 176,974 Polling Units nationwide, in respect of the presidential election and National Assembly Elections held on Saturday, 25th February 2023 were not in accordance with the provisions of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023, for the conduct of the presidential election.

In addition, they are seeking A declaration that the failure of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission to electronically transmit or transfer Polling Unit Results in Form EC8A using BVAS by uploading Scanned Copy of the said Unit Result to the Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing Portal (IReV) after the counting and announcement of the Polling Units results on 25th of February, 2023 in collusion, violates the provision of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023, for the conduct of the presidential election.

They are also seeking an order of the apex court “directing a holistic review of all results so far announced by the Federal Government of Nigeria through INEC which were carried out other than through the manner prescribed by the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and the INEC Manual for Election Officials.”

And for such further Orders as the Honourable Court may deem fit to make in the circumstance.

The plaintiffs also brought an application praying the apex court for an order directing a departure from the rules of the apex court in the interest of justice by directing for accelerated hearing of the substantive suit.

Besides, the plaintiffs also filed another application seeking for an order for abridging time for parties to file and serve responses for and against the suit. No date has been fixed for hearing.

The plaintiffs in the originating summons marked: SC/CV/354/2023, are specifically asking for an order of the apex court, directing a holistic review of all results so far announced by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which were carried out other than through the manner prescribed by the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and the INEC Manual for Election Officials.

The suit filed by the Attorneys General of Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Sokoto States has the Attorney General of the Federation as sole respondent and was brought pursuant to Sections 6 (6) (a), 14 (2) (b), 153 (1) (F) and 232 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended); 2. Sections 25 (1), (2) and 3; Sections 60 And 66 Of The Electoral Act, 2022.

They predicated their case on the grounds that, The collation of the national election results from the 36 States of the Federation, and that of the Federal Capital Territory, for the said 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections have not been carried out in compliance with the mandatory provisions of relevant sections of the Electoral Act, 2022; the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022, made pursuant to the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022; and the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023.

According to the suit filed on February 28, by their lawyers, Mike Ozekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), the agents and officials of the federal government and INEC, failed to transmit the collated result as prescribed by the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022; the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections 2022; and the INEC Manual for Election Officials requiring transmission of the results by the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in flagrant breach of the relevant provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022; the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023.

It was their submission that the, Non-compliance with the due process of law has led to a widespread agitation, violent protests, displeasure, and disapproval from a wide spectrum of the Nigerian populace, including international observers, political parties, well-meaning Nigerians and former Head of States of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

They further claimed that the widespread violent protests, demonstrations and rallies endangered the peace, order, good governance, security and safety of the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs argued that the federal government through INEC, “is empowered by law to correct the elections due to technical glitches and errors arising from the conduct of the elections with substantial effect on the electoral process in line with the provisions of Section 47 (3) of the Electoral Act, 2022; and other relevant sections thereof.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has nonetheless continued to collate results for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, against the provisions of extant Electoral laws and Guidelines, notwithstanding the fundamental flaws identified in the process of the collation of results and the public outcry that has greeted the entire electoral process.

Whilst queries were being raised as to the failure or deliberate refusal of INEC to transmit the results electronically, INEC suddenly pulled down its portal harbouring the Regulations and Guidelines, thus leaving the plaintiffs in the dark.

Most Nigerians, including the governments and peoples of Adamawa State, Akwa Ibom State, Bayelsa State, Delta State, Edo State, and Sokoto State, are entitled to a proper and electoral lawful process and procedure that guarantees a free, fair, transparent and credible election.

There is no justifiable basis for the ongoing collation of results without compliance with the mandatory provisions of the law that mandatorily require the use of BVAs, electronic transmission to the IRev Portal.

Unless this Honourable court intervenes, the Governments and peoples of Adamawa State, Akwa Ibom State, Bayelsa State, Delta State, Edo State, and Sokoto State, who have suffered and will continue to suffer irreparable hardship and damage of unquantifiable proportions by being denied the opportunity to participate fairly in a free, transparent, fair and credible election, which can lead to a breakdown of law and order and thus endanger the public peace, security, safety, order and good governance, consequent upon the violent demonstrations and protests that have already started to take place in different parts of the country, including the Plaintiff States, as a result of the fundamentally flawed electoral process, which does not represent the wishes of Nigerians and of the plaintiff states, they submitted.

Amongst the issues raised for determination by the apex court were: Whether having regard to the provisions of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023 thereof, the electronic transmission of votes collated at polling units and the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the transmission of collated result is made mandatory.

Whether by virtue of the provisions of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023, for the conduct of the Presidential Election, the Federal Government of Nigeria through presiding officers of its executive body, Independent National Electoral Commission was bound to electronically transmit or transfer Polling Unit Results in Form EC8A using BVAS by uploading Scanned Copy of the said Unit Results to the Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing Portal (IReV) in the course of the General Elections held on the 25th of February, 2023 throughout the Federation.

Whether the Federal Government of Nigeria in the recently held Presidential and National Assembly elections conducted nationwide on 25th February, 2023 through INEC, complied with the mandatory provisions of extant laws, INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Presidential Elections, 2022.

Whether the failure of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Defendant and INEC to electronically transmit or transfer Polling Unit Results in Form EC8A using BVAS by uploading Scanned Copy of the said Unit Result to the Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing Portal (IReV) after the counting and announcement of the Polling Units results on 25th of February, 2023, violates the provisions of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023, for the conduct of the presidential election.

Whether the failure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria through INEC to comply with the provisions of Section 60 of the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Regulations and Guidelines for Conduct of Elections, 2022 made pursuant to the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the FRN, 1999, as amended, in collating and announcing the results of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections render the already announced results and the elections conducted as a whole a nullity.

Whether the entire results of the presidential election conducted on the 25th of February, 2023, as announced by the Chairman of INEC at the National Collation Centre, Abuja in flagrant provision of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023, for the conduct of the Presidential Election, were valid.

In the event the questions raised were determined in their favour, plaintiffs urged the apex court to then declare, that the Federal Government of Nigeria, through INEC was bound to electronically transmit or transfer Polling Unit Results in Form EC8A using BVAS by uploading Scanned Copy of the said Unit Result to the Independent National Electoral Commission Result Viewing Portal (IReV) in the course of the General Elections held on the 25th of February, 2023 throughout the Federation in compliance with the provision of Sections 25; 47(2); 60 (1), (2), (4) & (5); 62; 64(4)(a) & (b); 70; and 148 of the Electoral Act, 2022, governing the 2023 nationwide general elections, particularly paragraphs 38 of the INEC Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022; and paragraphs 2.8.4; 2.9.0; and 2.9.1 of the INEC Manual for Election Officials, 2023, for the conduct of the presidential election.

“If Muslims could voluntarily vote for southern presidents it is then a fallacy to insinuate that they cannot accept a northern Christian vice president,” part of the statement read.

According to Mr Ayariga, the two ruling parties have lost focus on serving Ghanaians, but are channeling their energies in ‘ghost’ projects.

He added institutions in the country are not working, giving life to his claims that both are “incompetent”.

Claiming to have gathered experience, commitment, skills and brains in his over eight years of party politics, the flagbearer insists the NDC and NPP have stolen and implemented his ‘well laid out’ policies slowly.

His party, however, is ready to outline new policies which would be launched by the end of September, after which he is challenging party leaders to a debate.

“After the launch of the manifesto of the party, I want you to bring in John Mahama, bring Nana Akufo-Addo without any foreign document to hold debate and scrutinise our manifesto without document, iPad or phone and let’s see who knows his manifesto very well,” he said.

His challenge came after his competence and seriousness were questioned after losing woefully in two consecutive elections; 2012 and 2016.

Mr Ayariga explained his nature was not a sign of unseriousness but to present himself as approachable for the grassroot members, afterall politics, in his perspective, is not a do or die game.

Founder and Presidential Candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has rejected findings from the recently conducted survey on Ghanaians’ preference for a new voters’ register by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show Wednesday, Mr Ayariga said he was rather concerned with the non-credibility and technical reasons given by the Electoral Commission (EC) for a new voters’ register.

“I’m not worried about University of Ghana’s research, the figures don’t matter to me, what is important to me is the issue of non-credibility the EC claims the current register does not possess and its (EC) technical reasons to have a new register,” he said.

Allegations of fraud and malfeasance were brought against them, following which the Chief Justice established a prima facie case against them.

The committee cited misbehavior and incompetence as reasons for the dismissal, pursuant to Article 146(4) of the Constitution.

The Committee concluded that Charlotte Osei blatantly breached procurement laws in the award of several contracts in her three-year period at the helm of affairs, prior to the 2016 elections.

But the NDC, the government thus made this move to clutch onto power.

However, Hassan Ayargia in a statement copied to Adomonline.com said, he will not be part of such a demonstration which is against the Public Order Act.

BELOW IS THE FULL STATEMENT

I wish to disassociate myself and the APC from the reckless demonstration the NDC is scheduled to embark tomorrow.

The demonstration is against the public order act, as the police has not been duly notified, the APC and myself cannot be part of the process.

On the substantive issue of the removal of the Madam Charlotte Osei, the APC wish to commend the Chief Justice and her committee for confirming what we have always said about Madam Charlotte Osei. We wish to commend the President for acting boldly on this matter.

The arrogance and abuse of office by Madam Charlotte Osei left no one in doubt that she was a danger to the EC and the country. In the 2016 election, the hostility she showed towards the APC and its leader and her utterances gave her out as an unfair commissioner.

I urged the people of Ghana to embrace this decision and see it as an opportunity to reform the EC.

All elected positions in APC are dissolved – Ayariga https://www.adomonline.com/elected-positions-apc-dissolved-ayariga-2/ Sun, 12 Nov 2017 14:20:20 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=657511 The leadership of the All People’s Congress (APC) has dissolved all elected positions from the constituency, regional and national levels in the party.
“All executive members are now acting leaders with the exception of the General Secretary and the Leader/Founder of the party.
At a Press Conference in Accra, Mr Hassan Ayariga, Leader/Founder of the party, said the APC has notified the Electoral Commission to that effect and that members of the party who are interested in managing the affairs of the party are welcome to begin campaigning for available positions.
He said the APC was formed in an election year and many of the positions were not keenly contested by the party members.
Mr Ayariga said the APC believes in liberal principles adding that “the APC is the only party that anyone from any party will find principles he supports and I call on people from the various political parties to join us reorganize the APC.”
He said a committee has been established to embark on a nationwide tour from November 15, 2017, to all constituencies to organize polling station executives and activate party activities across the country.
It shall also issue party membership cards to new and old members as well as capture detailed information of every member in the party’s database.
“Other committees such as the new Council of Elders, Youth Wing, Women Executive Wing and Zongo Wing would be formed during the tour.”
The Leader/Founder said the committees would prepare the grounds for the election of constituency and regional executives, “the leadership has declared 2018 as the year for the national delegates’ congress where national executives as well as Presidential Candidate would be elected”.
“The polling station, constituency, regional and national executives at all levels are encouraged to support in the effort to ensure the success of this important mission,” he said.

Hot Audio: Ayariga jealous of Mahama https://www.adomonline.com/hot-audio-ayariga-jealous-mahama/ Fri, 14 Jul 2017 14:02:00 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=295971 Special Aide to the 2016 flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama, has asked the leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga to stop spewing venom over the former’s decision to accept a position as an Ambassador at large in the Nana Addo government.
According to Dela Tengeh, Mr Ayariga jealous because he has not gotten any opportunity from the NPP government to serve.
“Hassan Ayariga should just shut up and stop hating on Dr Mahama. You decided to break away from PNC to form your own concert political party, what then is your problem if our leader decides to accept a role in NPP government. He is just jealous of the man and has not done nothing meaningful with his life to help the country. He is just a comedian who enjoys spewing venom” he said on Accra based Okay FM.
Mr Hassan Ayariga has said that Dr Edward Nasigri Mahama has accepted a disgraceful position as an Ambassador at large.
According to the former flagbearer of the PNC, being an Ambassador is not any special position.
“You are just an errand boy of the president and he uses you as he desires. He can send you to wherever he likes so that you go and run errands for him. This is a disgraceful position”, he observed.
The supreme leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), cannot fathom why the same Dr Edward Mahama will turn down juicy offers including becoming a Vice President, a cabinet minister and only turn round to accept a position that is equal to a messenger.
“He declined to become a running mate under Kufuor, a Minister and now he is now rushing to take a ‘boy boy’ job. Why will he now want to become an errand boy or messenger? Maybe he wants to enjoy a diplomatic passport and other privileges with his ‘boy boy’ job. If his appointment is meant to cure the sickness of all-inclusive government, then the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has failed because they are dealing with him as an individual and not as a political party”, he stated.
He believes that the PNC must question Dr. Mahama on his acceptance of the appointment as it does not speak well for the party.
But Dr Mahama’s aide said his boss is not hungry like Hassan Ayariga but only accepted the position to serve Ghana.
“With the level of kindheartedness the man exhibits, is simply legendary. He is a man of substance but never prides himself in materialism and a very nice man and so Ayariga should just shut up” he cried.
Describing Mr Ayariga as a comedian, Dela Tengeh believes Mr Ayariga is only making such ‘useless’ pronouncements because he has been deprived of all the basics of life during his childhood years, “and have therefore become adult with no grain of self-esteem” he said.

Ayariga open to appointment but not ambassador https://www.adomonline.com/ayariga-open-appointment-not-ambassador/ Tue, 11 Jul 2017 16:36:46 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=285401 Founder of All People’s Congress (APC) Hassan Ayariga says he is open to serve in any other capacity in the Akufo-Addo government aside being made an ambassador.
He, however, explained that he will assess the appointment before accepting it. Mr Ayariga was addressing journalists in Accra on Tuesday in the wake of the appointment People’s National Convention’s leader Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama as Ambassador-at-Large.
The PNC tradition from which Mr Ayariga is – even leading them for the 2012 elections – has not been happy with the move of Dr Mahama, hinting of summoning him for questioning.
Mr Ayariga said the ambassadorial role for the 2016 PNC Presidential Candidate is a demotion. According to him, the post in particular will make him an “errand boy” in the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The APC founder says the PNC leadership should summon Dr Mahama and question him over the acceptance of the offer especially on the back of rejecting previous ones including becoming running mate for John Agyekum Kufuor in 2000. Separately, APC says it will embark on a rebranding tour across the nation in readiness for the 2020 polls.
Leader Hassan Ayariga says the tour will see the registration of new members. He said he wants to get the party prepared early. APC’s candidate was among those disqualified ahead of the 2016 elections.
