According to the group, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo schemed with the regional executives to deliberately disqualify Mr Nyarkotey in favour of his ‘darling boy’, one Michael Ologo.

Protesting the decision by the party at a news conference in Somanya on Wednesday, Desmond Djabadey, branch Chairman for Nkurakan Presby ‘B’ warned the party of dire consequences if they fail to rescind their decision.

“His exclusion from the party’s primary scheduled for August 24 this year came as a surprise to many of us who had declared our unflinching support for his candidature and their reason for the disqualification is baseless and not convincing enough.

“A branch executive member accused him of not serving and contributing to the welfare of the party but we believe it is the party’s national chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo subtly working to give Mr Ologo, who serves as the Managing Director of Mr Ofosu-Ampofo’s group of companies an unfair advantage,” they added.

Meanwhile, the party has cleared former Municipal Chief Executive, Andrew Soda and Mr Ologo to battle it out in the upcoming primary scheduled for August 24, 2019.

I have no hand in Tawiah Boateng’s defeat – Ofosu Ampofo [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/i-have-no-hand-in-tawiah-boatengs-defeat-ofosu-ampofo-audio/ Tue, 04 Sep 2018 18:17:17 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=1309261

Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has denied having a hand in Tawiah Boateng’s defeat in the just-ended NDC’s Eastern Regional elections.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Tuesday, Mr Ampofo said, as a director of elections, he was at the venue to ensure that elections were held without any hitches.

He said even before he went to the grounds, he openly made everyone aware that because he has already declared his intention to run for the National Chairmanship race, he has no preferences and pledged not to involve in anything that might directly or indirectly promote one over the other.

You know I’m vying for the chairmanship post and it would be bad to select one person over the other. It won’t be right to involve myself in such things. I was there to ensure that everything goes on smoothly and not to support anyone. Can you believe I never ate the whole of that day because I had to make sure work goes on,” he asked rhetorically.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo’s comment comes after Mr Tawiah Boateng, the immediate past Eastern Regional NDC Chairman accused him, Ambassador Victor Smith and Mrs Mavis Ama Frimpong of orchestrating his defeat.

“I will not blame anybody for my defeat but it is instructive to note that all former appointees ganged up against Tawiah Boateng. All of them including Ofosu Ampofo, Victor Smith and others embarked on “operation remove Tawiah Boateng and bring JOWAK,” Tawiah Boateng alleged.

“They met all former MMDCEs and even called one founding member of the party, Alhaji Abu, who urged them to vote massively for JOWAK. They did all these machinations and even forced one contestant, Basil Ahiable to step down. They sat him down and tried to convince him to step down for JOWAK. They promised to pay him (Basil Ahiable) GHS130, 000 (¢1.3 billion old cedis) but he refused it. All these contributed to the delay in conducting the regional elections”, he further alleged.

ut Mr Ofosu-Ampofo urged Mr Tawiah Boateng to rise above pettiness and support the party to wrestle power from the NPP.

NDC collated 2016 election results- Ofosu Ampofo https://www.adomonline.com/ndc-collated-2016-election-results-ofosu-ampofo/ Tue, 17 Oct 2017 13:29:55 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=586251 Contrary to claims the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) did not collate the results of the 2016 elections, its Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has said hey collated their own results.

The Daily Guide News Paper has reported that despite the chants of winning the election ‘one-touch’ by then President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC did not collate the results but tied its fate to a possible machination of Charlotte Osei’s Electoral Commission and so when the EC system failed, the NDC was caught flat-footed.

The paper said the party relied on Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s ‘private’ arrangement to collate the results, which also failed miserably.

Speculations at the time were that the party was in a secret arrangement with the Electoral Commission to get the results – a move which was unknown to other political parties.

However, when the commission’s system of transmission got ‘compromised’ according to EC Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, on the election night of December 7, 2017, the NDC was found wanting, scurrying for rescue, which was too late.

According to DAILY GUIDE sources, the NDC contracted K-NET to build a digital television platform – DTT – at a whopping cost of over $82 million, but still the system failed to generate any results.

But reacting to the issue, Mr Ofosu Ampofo said the NDC collated 2016 election results at every constituency.

“Daily Guide reports that our results were not collated is false. It is important to note that our results were collated at the constituency level. We collated our results but it’s only the EC who is responsible for collating and announcing results at the national level” he said on Accra based Neat Fm.

According to him, collated results by the party indicate the party was cruising to victory in the 2016 election.

He said the Kojo Botchwey report committee whose work is to help establish what went wrong in the 2016 election will help streamline the NDC for the victory in 2020 after its abysmal performance in 2016.

Ofosu Ampofo believes the NDC will be better placed to win the 2020 elections after a house cleaning exercise.
