Mr Frimpong was captured on a viral video urging miners to attack Police officers and soldiers who extort money from them.

But in a statement, the candidate has said the two-hour engagement with artisanal small-scale miners has been taken out of context.

Mr Frimpong has clarified that, the Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah emphasised the importance of responsible mining practices and warned against mining in prohibited areas, such as forest reserves and rivers.

For his part, Mr Frimpong said advised miners to report cases of extortion and harassment by unauthorized individuals under the pretence of law enforcement officers.

Insisting he did not at any point encourage illegal mining, he urged the public to disregard the allegations, stating that they are “inaccurately represented” and “misrepresented.”

The project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, aims to improve the quality of life for local communities.

Under the supervision of Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, Chief Director at the Ministry of Energy, materials and equipment have been sourced from the Materials Management Unit in Kpone, Tema.

These resources will be used to extend electricity to several communities, including Dikoto Junction, Marfokrom, Akwaboa, Japa, Akropong, Bowdie, Asikuma, Nananko, Ankosia, Dadieso, Tamakro, and Adesu Nkyease.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will oversee the installation process, as materials will be securely stored at the District Office in Bogoso.

Honorable Ernest Frimpong, the parliamentary candidate for the NPP, is spearheading a crucial electricity extension initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy aimed at enhancing the quality of life for communities within the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region.

The materials, as per requisition no: SP-CS-WAEM-WR-2024-05-001, will be entrusted to the ECG District Office at Bogoso, ensuring secure storage and effective oversight of installation works by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

Reports indicate three men were at Mr Amankwah’s home around 3 am on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, to stage the attack.

According to the National Youth Organiser for the area, Raymond Ebbah, two of the men wielded guns while the other had a stick.

They forced their way into Mr Amankwah’s house but he managed to leave the premises on their blind side through a back door before fleeing the house by jumping its wall.

A timely intervention by neighbours led to the apprehension of one of the suspects who has been handed over to the Wassa Akropong police.

He is currently assisting police with investigations with the others on the run.

Though the PC escaped unscathed, the suspect sustained injuries following attacks from eyewitnesses.
