He highlighted that, reaching this target would reinforce the NPP’s dominance and significantly push the party’s agenda of breaking the eight-year governance cycle, a milestone never achieved in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

Speaking at the ‘Mega Ofie Walk’ at Mampong Coronation Park on Saturday, August 3, 2024, Mr Awuku stressed that achieving this goal would guarantee a resounding victory for the NPP, especially when combined with similar results from other constituencies in the Eastern Region and beyond.

Mr Awuku said in the 2020 elections, the party secured 65% of the popular vote with former candidate Dokuah Asiamah Agyei and called on the crowd to build on this success.

He encouraged them to work tirelessly to exceed this performance and strengthen the NPP’s position against the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“With your support, we can build on our past achievements and make the goal of breaking the eight-year governance cycle more attainable,” he said.

Mr Awuku further framed the 2024 general elections as a choice between progress and stagnation.

He urged voters to carefully consider which party aligns with their interests.

“Elections have profound implications for our future. A vote for the NDC is a vote for regression. The NDC will undo the solid foundations laid by the NPP, as they have done in the past.”

Mr Awuku expressed confidence in Dr Bawumia’s capacity to implement innovative policies in the next government and acknowledged the current challenges faced by Ghanaians.

“Ghana has been fortunate to have had excellent leadership managing the economy through the challenges of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war. Signs of economic recovery are clear, and soon Ghanaians will enjoy the benefits they have been waiting for,” he said.

The event was graced by notable figures including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Eastern Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu, Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong, National Women’s Organiser, Kate Gyamfua, and several parliamentary candidates.

Sammi Awuku joins NPP parliamentary race https://www.adomonline.com/sammi-awuku-joins-npp-parliamentary-race/ Fri, 22 Sep 2023 10:35:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2296917 Director General for the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku has officially declared his intention to contest for the Akuapem North constituency seat in the Eastern Region.

According to him, his decision to contest is not to maliciously oust the current Member of Parliament (MP), Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Agyei but to increase the votes of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency.

“When the nominations open officially, I intend to file to represent the people of the Akuapem North Constituency. I am not here to sack my sister, she has already made her intentions clear to the powers that be to contest the Okaikwei North Constituency seat. I will continue the good works from where she started here. I am here to take over from my sister and increase the voting margins for this constituency for the NPP” he said.

Mr. Awuku promised that his victory would accelerate development and revive the local economy in Akuapem North.

The former National Organizer of the NPP donated an amount of GH¢839,000.00 to be disbursed to 850 women in the constituency as start-up capital.

“Women are breadwinners of our family. In this Constituency, a number of them need support to grow their small-scale businesses, that is why I initiated this for them. They must make it sustainable by being prudent with it,” he noted.

Sammi Awuku also has plans to collaborate with Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) to get more capital for the youth in the area.

“I plan to link up with MASLOC to reach out to more artisans, drivers, tailors and the rest so that we can have a rebound of economic activity. Crime rate will stop, addiction to drug will stop. The core focus is to cushion and support young and old unemployed people in this Constituency. Entrepreneurship has turned countries all over around,” he added.

Akuapem North NPP fumes over decision to allow MP file nomination https://www.adomonline.com/akuapem-north-npp-fumes-over-decision-to-allow-mp-file-nomination/ Wed, 07 Oct 2020 22:12:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1864405 Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Akuapem North Constituency are fuming over a decision by the party to allow Member of Parliament (MP) for Akropong constituency to file her nomination to contest despite a court case seeking to injunct her nomination.

The move has since caused serious uproar within the Akropong constituency.

The aggrieved delegates have since August 13 this year been contesting the candidature of Nana Ama Dokua and are seeking to prevent her from filing her nomination at a High Court in Koforidua.

The woes of these delegates have deepened after the MP disregarded the impending court case to file her nomination on Wednesday, October 7.

The aggrieved delegates have since been contesting what they claim to be unfair disqualification of legal practitioner Philip Addison and Dr Twumasi Agyei from contesting her and allowing her to go solo.

Eugene Asare, a polling station secretary at Tutu Akuapem wants the party to work within the confines of its rules.

“There is a case against her at the court seeking to injunct her nomination but she keeps complaining about ill health. Just this morning she went to the EC office to file her nomination. Is this democracy? The party rules must not be seen to favour others at the expense of the total interest of party members,” he lamented.

Some concerned youth in the constituency at a press conference a few months ago vowed to ditch the party in the general election if something is not done about her.
