Due to this, Mr Saani has said people no longer give way in traffic when they hear the sirens no matter the emergency.

“When there is a convoy coming, road users have to look for a safe space but people generally disregard sirens due to the abuse of sirens.

“Anyone with a big car will just go to Kokompe to install a siren and so 80% of these sirens are unnecessary so Ghanaians have made up their minds not to give way. So because of the recklessness of others, genuine people in emergency cases will not be given access in traffic,” he stated.

He made these comments on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday following the tragic crash involving President Akufo-Addo’s convoy at Bunso Junction on Sunday.

The accident claimed the life of a driver, Kwesi Arthur and left three others injured.

Reports say the vehicle was crossed by a KIA Rhino truck, resulting in the crash.

Reacting to this, Mr Saani said the crash involving convoys is becoming one too many in the country, noting that, the speed limit must be reduced.

“The speed of convoys is largely for security reasons such that in times of attack, the risk factor will be minimal.

“We must overhaul our standard operating procedures by reducing the number of cars in the convoy, periodic training helps a lot also, our road network must be checked,” he added.

Tackle security loopholes in 24 hour economy proposition – Adib Saani https://www.adomonline.com/tackle-security-loopholes-in-24-hour-economy-proposition-adib-saani/ Mon, 27 Nov 2023 10:57:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2324587 Security Analyst, Adiib Saani has recommended doubling Ghana’s Police Force to accommodate potential challenges that may arise with the implementation of a 24-hour economy.

According to him, it is important to scrutinize the security aspects of this innovative economic model, as existing conversations have not adequately addressed potential loopholes in the scheme.

Currently, the police-to-citizen ratio stands at approximately 1 officer to 900 Ghanaians, while according to UN standards, this ratio should ideally be at least 1 officer to 500 citizens.

With the prospect of a 24-hour economy, Mr. Saani advocated for an augmentation of the police force to ensure the adequate handling of security issues that may emerge.

Speaking on Accra-based Citi TV, Mr. Saani recommended a shift towards electronic transactions to mitigate the risk of robbery attacks associated with carrying large sums of money at night.

He noted that as business activities extend into the night, electronic transactions can provide a safer alternative.

“Business transactions often involve carrying substantial amounts of money, especially in marketplaces, trading centres, and service-providing companies. With these activities extending into the night, adopting electronic means of conducting business can help avoid robberies in broad daylight,” he stated.

Despite advocating for electronic transactions, he also expressed concerns about the potential vulnerabilities the scheme may create for scammers.

He urged Ghanaians to enhance their understanding of cybersecurity to protect themselves from falling victim to fraudulent activities.

“This shift to electronic transactions could create opportunities for scammers, and many people might become unsuspecting victims. Therefore, it is crucial for us to strengthen our cybersecurity practices as a society to safeguard against such instances,” Mr. Saani cautioned.

Ashaiman: Someone has to pay for military’s actions – Security analyst https://www.adomonline.com/ashaiman-someone-has-to-pay-for-militarys-actions-security-analyst/ Fri, 10 Mar 2023 12:49:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2226457 Security Analyst, Adib Saani, has also commented on the recent military brutality at Ashaiman after a soldier was allegedly stabbed to death by unknown assailants.

He has condemned the actions by the military personnel, saying it was uncalled for.

Explaining from a security perspective, Adib Saani said someone has to pay for the logistics that were deployed to aid the actions of the military.

“Someone has to pay for the actions of the military because now it has emerged that they were officially sanctioned from the very top. So, who did the sanctioning? We need to know,” he requested.

He made these comments in an interview with Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning on Thursday.

Additionally, the security analyst pointed out that there was an excess and wanton display of lawlessness in managing the situation.

As to why there is a need for someone to pay, he said, “We’re a country that is governed by the rule of law, and we cannot afford to continue letting this happen.”

Mr Saani added that there is a higher possibility of the perpetrators escaping from the community after committing the act.

Police to blame for Nana Agradaa’s notoriety – Security Analyst https://www.adomonline.com/police-to-blame-for-nana-agradaas-notoriety-security-analyst/ Mon, 10 Oct 2022 14:08:17 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2170118

The police have been blamed for the conduct of fetish priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as ‘Nana Agradaa’.

Security Analyst, Adib Sanni, said failure by the police to deal with Agradaa now Evangelist Mama Pat despite repeated reports against her has fueled her con activities.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme Monday, he cited how Nana Agradaa was treated with kid gloves by police at Sowutuom to buttress his point.

“I dare anyone to go to the Sowutuom Police station and ask for Agradaa’s files, and you’ll be amazed by the number of complaints that have been levelled against her at the Police station. Almost like a weekly ritual,” he disclosed.

Adib Saani said he will not blame Nana Agradaa for the money-doubling scam because she took advantage of the loopholes in the criminal justice system.

“In fact, I don’t blame ‘Agradaa’ because she is only an opportunist who is exploiting loopholes in our norms, values and in our criminal justice system. If the law was enforced, I’m not sure Nana Agradaa would have had the audacity to tell Ghanaians she is now an evangelist,” he fumed.

This ‘Nana Agradaa’ case, Adib Saani said should not be a yardstick for the regulation of religious bodies in the country.

“There is a thick line between scam and religion. Anyone can use religion to do scam, terrorism and many others but it does not mean the church or mosque is responsible. We just need to rid the system off these criminals,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Nana Agradaa has been arrested over money-doubling scam and is currently assisting police with investigations.

Covering faces of suspects will complicate investigation – Security analyst https://www.adomonline.com/covering-faces-of-suspects-will-complicate-investigation-security-analyst/ Mon, 06 Dec 2021 18:36:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2054719 Security analyst, Adib Saani, has reacted to the decision by the Ghana Police Service to protect the faces of suspects.

Mr Saani remarked that most of the information needed by the Police during investigation is mostly from the general population, and covering the faces of suspects will complicate the investigation.

He again revealed that before a culprit will intend to commit a crime, the person rationalises whether he would be caught or not. This, he believes, will pose more threat to the security system in the country.

According to Mr Saani, people will continue to commit crime in the country believing their faces would be covered and their identities hidden from the masses.

“The first thing taken into consideration is the interest of the state whilst making sure that the sanctity of the state is maintained,” he said in an interview on Adom News.

He reminded that there is no morality when it comes to ensuring the security of the state as it has been revealed by legal practitioners that most of the cases brought before the court are based on circumstantial evidence.

“You were there when the crime was perpetrated or you were caught in the act; then you are guilty of the offence,’’ he explained why some identities should be made public.

In response to the issue of privacy, Mr Saani asserted that when the faces of the suspects are published after court proceedings, the Police should use the same procedure by issuing a statement of the vindication of the suspects.

Mr Saani concluded that the country will be destroyed if judgment from court is awaited before the publication of suspects.

The Ghana Police Service on 6th December resolved to no longer show or display faces of suspects until final judgment.

In a statement, the police service said the decision is to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in all policing endeavours.
