VAG, a body that oversees the affairs of retired military personnel, has faced numerous challenges, including the non-release of funds from the government in the past, leading to the abandonment of their projects.

Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul informed PAC that VAG’s situation has improved due to the government’s recent support for retired soldiers.

However, he confirmed that many projects remain neglected, with some individuals encroaching on VAG’s land and property.

The government is actively working to reclaim these properties, and some have already been retrieved.

Regarding the projects scattered across the country, particularly the Amasaman housing project, Nitiwul stated that 6 out of over 37 buildings have been completed and handed over to VAG.

He also called for more resources and attention from the state, emphasizing that some veterans have paid the ultimate price for their country.
