Speaking in an interview with George Quaye on Prime Time on Joy Prime, the musician, activist and political figure said his journey to prominence has been far from polished. He credits much of his worldview to his early years preaching and distributing Awake pamphlets as a Jehovah’s Witness.

Before the fame and headlines, he said, he was a “nobody”. Born into a relatively comfortable home, A-Plus explained that while survival was not a daily struggle, his position as the second of five children shaped his independence and desire to assert himself.

Determined to stand out, he often chose a different path. In a household of Asante Kotoko supporters, he aligned himself with Hearts of Oak simply to be distinct.

His move to Accra in the late 1990s marked a turning point. He was brought to the capital by a man he identified as Chico. On arrival, he said he sometimes told people his parents were not around, not out of deceit, but to create a psychological boundary and avoid certain influences. Chico later died from drug abuse, an experience A-Plus said reinforced his complex views on life, destiny and consequence.

Recounting the beginnings of his music career, A-Plus said his first demo was produced by Mensah Ansah of FOKN Bois. His breakthrough, however, came with “Mesuro Mpo Na Merekeka Yi O”, produced by Big Ben. According to him, the song was driven by hunger for success and a desire to stand apart, even at the risk of controversy.

He recorded at Slim Buster’s studio between 1998 and 1999, where he sometimes slept, while many members of his family did not know his whereabouts. He also witnessed defining moments in the industry, including when Slim Buster produced “Philomena” for Tic Tac.

From those experiences, he developed a belief that breaking into the mainstream required confrontation, what he famously describes as “holding someone’s throat”.

That approach, he admitted, came at a cost. His rise sparked backlash to the extent that his father reportedly visited radio stations to plead with DJs to stop playing his music. Court cases followed. In one instance, journalist Kojo Danquah invited him for a meal, only to inform him afterwards that people were searching for him to serve a court order.

In distress, A-Plus contacted his uncle, veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt, who advised him not to flee and assured him of legal support. Still unconvinced, he said he chose to settle some matters quietly behind closed doors, exposing a vulnerability rarely seen in his public persona.

On faith, A-Plus described himself as deeply reflective. He said he believes God is real and accessible to all, claiming to have encountered God one on one. Yet, he admitted he is uncertain about attaining paradise after death.

Politically, he said he admires Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a person but disagrees with his style of politics, arguing that the former president lost direction at some point. Through The People’s Project, he ventured into politics, describing his campaign as smooth and asserting that the day his presidential posters appear will be the day he wins. He also clarified that he has never called on John Mahama to seek a third term.

In his closing remarks, A-Plus unapologetically described himself as a professional and experienced attention seeker, joking that anyone in Ghana who dislikes him must be a witch.

Love him or loathe him, A-Plus remains difficult to ignore: a man shaped by faith, driven by difference and fully conscious of the attention he commands

A Plus hails Speaker Bagbin’s stewardship, dismisses minor criticism https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-hails-speaker-bagbins-stewardship-dismisses-minor-criticism/ Wed, 17 Dec 2025 09:12:42 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2611261 Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus and the Gomoa Central MP, has praised Speaker Alban Bagbin, describing him as a skilful and wise leader who has kept Parliament together through some of its most challenging years.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on the AM Show, the outspoken legislator highlighted the Speaker’s handling of the 8th Parliament—particularly when both sides held 137 seats each—as a demonstration of exceptional political maturity.

“He is an amazing person,” A Plus said. “If you look at how he managed the eighth Parliament when it was 137–137… for somebody to be able to put this together and hold it for four years, you have to be skilful, intelligent, and possess a certain level of wisdom.”

He noted that legislatures around the world with similar splits often collapse under pressure, yet Ghana’s Parliament remained functional under Bagbin’s leadership. A Plus suggested that this record should guide how MPs engage with the Speaker today.

“When I look at the kind of job he has done with the Parliament of Ghana, I don’t want to be the person to make his job difficult,” he added.

Responding to concerns that recent tensions in the House could dent Bagbin’s legacy, A Plus dismissed such claims, saying it is normal for a small group to hold opposing views even when the majority supports the leadership.

“It’s normal. You won’t always have everybody appreciating what you do,” he said. “Once the majority accepts and supports what you do, it is fine.”

Take time to learn parliamentary rules – MP tells A Plus over petition against PAC Chair https://www.adomonline.com/take-time-to-learn-parliamentary-rules-mp-tells-a-plus-over-petition-against-pac-chair/ Wed, 05 Nov 2025 08:57:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2596389 The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has advised his colleague, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, to acquaint himself with parliamentary procedures before calling for the removal of Abena Osei-Asare as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

In a Facebook post, Mr. Osei Nyarko described A Plus’ petition to Speaker Alban Bagbin as “dead on arrival,” emphasizing that the Speaker does not have the authority to remove a sitting MP from a parliamentary committee.

He explained that such decisions fall under the mandate of the Committee of Selection, which acts on recommendations from the leadership of the respective parliamentary caucuses.

“My colleague A Plus should take his time to learn the parliamentary rules and procedures properly. The Speaker has no powers to remove any Member of Parliament from a committee, not even the Leader of Government Business can do that,” Mr. Osei Nyarko stated.

He further advised that if A Plus believes the PAC Chairperson has acted inappropriately, he should consult the Standing Orders of Parliament and follow the appropriate disciplinary procedures, rather than appealing directly to the Speaker.

“But to call on the Speaker to remove her as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee is nothing but political bravado,” he added, urging A Plus to withdraw the petition to avoid unnecessary embarrassment.

A Plus, who recently entered Parliament, had petitioned the Speaker to remove Abena Osei-Asare, citing a conflict of interest due to her previous role as Deputy Minister of Finance.

His action has sparked discussions among political observers and MPs about the limits of the Speaker’s authority and the proper procedures governing parliamentary committees.

The PAC, chaired by the Atiwa East legislator, is central to ensuring accountability in public spending, making the debate over its leadership particularly significant.

A Plus petitions Speaker to remove Abena Osei Asare as Public Accounts Committee Chair https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-petitions-speaker-to-remove-abena-osei-asare-as-public-accounts-committee-chair/ Wed, 05 Nov 2025 06:45:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2596339 The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, seeking the removal of Abena Osei Asare, the MP for Atiwa East, from her position as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

In a letter dated November 3, 2025, A Plus argued that Abena Osei Asare’s continued leadership of the PAC constitutes a conflict of interest due to her previous role as Deputy Minister of Finance.

He maintained that her prior association with the Finance Ministry, particularly during the tenure of former Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, could undermine the committee’s credibility and independence.

“The Public Accounts Committee remains one of Parliament’s most critical tools for promoting transparency, accountability, and responsible financial governance,” A Plus stated. “It is deeply troubling that Hon. Abena Osei Asare, a former Deputy Minister of Finance, is now leading this vital oversight body.”

According to him, her leadership at a time he described as marked by “reckless borrowing, fiscal mismanagement, and questionable contracts” erodes public confidence in the committee’s work.

The Gomoa Central legislator also cited ongoing investigations into deals such as the Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) contract, the ECG–Beijing Jao Loss Reduction agreement, and the Service Ghana Auto Limited ambulance procurement — all currently under review by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

A Plus further accused the Atiwa East MP of shielding the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Commissioner-General, Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, when he declined to disclose his age, describing her actions as “a serious breach of the principles of transparency and accountability.”

He maintained that allowing someone directly involved in financial management to oversee government expenditure reviews is “morally unjustifiable.”

“Such an arrangement not only undermines the impartiality of the Public Accounts Committee but also weakens public faith in Parliament’s oversight function,” he added.

A Plus, therefore, urged the Speaker to act swiftly to replace her, arguing that her removal is necessary to preserve the integrity, neutrality, and moral authority of both the PAC and Parliament as a whole.

Attorney General must resign or be sacked – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/attorney-general-must-resign-or-be-sacked-nana-b-audio/ Wed, 07 May 2025 08:33:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2532425 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has criticised Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, over his response to corruption allegations made by Gomoa Central MP, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana B, as he is popularly known, stated that Dr. Ayine should have either resigned or been dismissed by now, considering the gravity of the allegations.

He expressed disappointment with the Attorney General’s handling of the matter and the tone of his response.

“A Plus is not just any person now. He is an Honourable Member of Parliament who belongs to the Majority and says that you are corrupt and a thief,” he said.

“In your response, you are saying that A Plus is saying so because you went for some campaign funds from one Dr. Sledge. And people have even advised you to initiate legal proceedings against A Plus, that is, a defamation suit, but you will not do that because you don’t want to be distracted,” Nana B added.

A Plus had accused Dr. Ayine of manipulating the drafting and passage of the Sanitation and Pollution Levy in 2021 for personal gain while the NDC was in opposition.

At a press conference on April 30, Dr. Ayine denied the accusations, stating, “If I have to walk in the mud to clear my name, I will do so. I will not allow anyone to tarnish my image without a fight.”

But Nana B insisted that the matter is of national importance and deserved a more professional approach.

“If A Plus thinks that he wants to play with you in the mud, that is where you want? You are from the mud? Where you are, you are not afraid of the mud, so you go into the mud?” he questioned. “Who says we want our Attorney General to be playing in the mud?”

He also reminded Ghanaians that the Attorney General’s office is a constitutional one and should be upheld with dignity.

Nana B further criticised Dr. Ayine’s response, suggesting that it inadvertently cast Parliament in a negative light. “If every MP had received money for campaign activities, then there would be 276 thieves in Parliament,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, A Plus has issued an unqualified apology to the Bolgatanga East MP over the claims.

I only helped a man tell his story – A-Plus clarifies NSS scandal involvement https://www.adomonline.com/i-only-helped-a-man-tell-his-story-a-plus-clarifies-nss-scandal-involvement/ Sat, 03 May 2025 11:46:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2531189 Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has refuted claims that he received money to interfere in investigations surrounding the National Service Secretariat (NSS) scandal.

In a statement issued on Friday, the outspoken legislator distanced himself from the allegations, attributing them to a fake social media account impersonating him.

The statement follows comments made by Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine at a press conference, in which he cited claims from the account and called on A-Plus to respond.

“I have never received any money from the National Service Secretariat, nor do I have any dealings—direct or indirect—with the institution,” A-Plus said. “At no point have I tried to influence or suppress the investigation.”

Clarifying his involvement, the MP noted that the only time he came into contact with the issue was in November 2024, when a man approached him claiming he had been wrongly implicated in the scandal.

According to A-Plus, the individual sought assistance to clear his name, and he agreed to help the man secure a media platform to share his side of the story.

“As someone with a media background and a declared majority stake in a media company, I simply offered him the opportunity to explain his case publicly,” he explained. “If that support is being interpreted as interference, I respectfully disagree.”

He concluded by stating, “I believe strongly in the right of every accused person to be heard.”

A Plus apologises to Dr. Ayine over inappropriate choice of words https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-apologises-to-dr-ayine-over-inappropriate-choice-of-words/ Sat, 03 May 2025 11:19:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2531178 Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare-Obeng, also known as A Plus has rendered an unqualified apology to the Attorney General and Bolgatanga East MP, Dr Dominic Ayine, following a heated verbal clash that stirred public debate earlier this week.

The controversy erupted after A Plus took to Facebook to accuse Dr Ayine of offering a GH₵500,000 bribe to influence members of Parliament’s Appointments Committee.

In the now-deleted post, A Plus used offensive language, describing Dr Ayine as an “old fool,” “stupid man,” and threatening to “reset [his] brain.” The post quickly drew criticism for its coarse tone and perceived disrespect.

Responding to the backlash, A Plus has admitted responsibility for the post, describing it as regrettable. In a new statement published on his social media platform, he acknowledged that his reaction lacked the decorum expected of someone in his position.

“I take full ownership of the Facebook post in question. After reflecting on it, I realise that my language was inappropriate and failed to reflect the standard of respect due to a fellow Member of Parliament,” he noted.

A Plus offered a heartfelt apology to Dr Ayine, whom he referred to as a senior colleague in Parliament, and extended that apology to the general public for his conduct.

“As a younger MP and a junior in Parliament, I unreservedly apologise to Hon. Dr Ayine and to Ghanaians at large. I admit that I could have expressed my concerns in a more respectful and responsible manner,” he stated.

In a symbolic gesture of remorse, A Plus confirmed that he had taken down the controversial post, describing the action as an attempt to restore calm and show respect.

While expressing regret over the incident, the Gomoa Central legislator reaffirmed his dedication to the fight against corruption—an issue he said remains central to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

“The battle against corruption remains a top priority for the NDC and President Mahama. We must all approach this mission with dignity, fairness, and mutual respect,” he emphasised.

He wrapped up his statement with a call for unity, urging all sides to focus on the collective good of the country.

Avail yourself for probe to clear your name – GII urges A-G over A Plus’ corruption allegation  https://www.adomonline.com/avail-yourself-for-probe-to-clear-your-name-gii-urges-a-g-over-a-plus-corruption-allegation/ Fri, 02 May 2025 10:11:19 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2530921 The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) has waded into the ongoing controversy between the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, and the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, over corruption allegations made on social media.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem the Fundraising Manager of GII, Michael Boadi, called for a thorough and independent investigation into the matter.

He stressed that the Attorney General must avail himself for investigation to clear his name.

“This is a corruption-related allegation, and it must be treated seriously. The Attorney General should subject himself to investigation to protect the integrity of his office,” Mr. Boadi said.

He noted that institutions such as the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service have the mandate to probe such allegations.

“The OSP, CHRAJ, and CID can all investigate this matter. The Special Prosecutor is legally empowered to do so, but the AG must not act as a barrier to that process,” Mr. Boadi explained.

He further stressed the need for both parties—the AG and A Plus—to follow due process.

“It’s not just about defending personal reputation. This concerns the integrity of our governance systems. A Plus should formally report the matter to the appropriate investigative bodies, and the AG should allow the law to take its course,” he added.

Mr. Boadi criticized the idea of engaging in a public feud over such a serious matter.

GII ON A PLUS AND AG

“It is painful when someone tarnishes your image, but the solution is not to descend into the mud. The AG should clear his name through legal channels, not exchanges in the public,” he said.

The Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has already dismissed the allegations made by A Plus, who accused him of manipulating the drafting and passage of the Sanitation and Pollution Levy in 2021 for personal gain while in opposition.

In response, Dr. Ayine said during a press briefing on April 30: “If I have to walk in the mud to clear my name, I will do so. I will not allow anyone to tarnish my image without a fight.”

Mr. Boadi, however, insisted that “this is not just a personal issue. It’s a national concern, and both parties must use the right legal procedures to ensure transparency and accountability.”

Tell Ghanaians what you know about NSS ghost names scandal – A-G dares A Plus https://www.adomonline.com/tell-ghanaians-what-you-know-about-nss-ghost-names-scandal-a-g-dares-a-plus/ Thu, 01 May 2025 10:28:14 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2530654 The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has challenged Gomoa Central MP, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, to come clean over his alleged involvement in the National Service Authority(NSA) ghost names scandal.

Dr. Ayine issued the stern warning at a press conference on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

The minister also dismissed recent social media claims by A Plus, branding him as “corrupt” and “a thief,” calling the accusations false and baseless.

“The media should ask him about the silly thing that I was about to do, which frightened him so much into making that silly post about me.

“He should be asked what he knows about the National Service ghost names scandal and related matters,” he stated.

Dr. Ayine further cautioned A Plus to stop hiding behind social media and face real questions directly.

“If he can give truthful answers, then Ghanaians would know why he took to social media to do what he did. But let him be warned that in my hometown, we do not fear mud thrown at us.

“On the contrary, we walk into the mud to deal with the person doing the mud-slinging and I am prepared to walk into the mud with A Plus,” he warned.

Dr. Ayine further challenged A Plus to appear before the media and publicly respond to the claims surrounding his alleged role in the NSS ghost names saga.

“What I have about him and the National Service scandal—he should come and say. I’m challenging him to come and tell the media and stop hiding behind social media to make baseless allegations against people who have worked hard to earn a reputation,” he added.

A Plus alleges plot to push sanitation narrative against government https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-alleges-plot-to-push-sanitation-narrative-against-government/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 16:09:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523914

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has alleged a covert campaign by selected media houses and civil society organisations to promote a narrative that would justify a possible increase in Ghana’s Sanitation and Pollution Levy (SPL).

According to A Plus, a recent closed-door meeting was held to craft a deliberate media strategy that paints a picture of worsening sanitation under the new administration of President John Mahama.

He claims the plan includes circulating visuals of choked drains, garbage-strewn streets, and poor waste management across media platforms to generate public pressure for a levy hike.

The current SPL imposes a 10 pesewa charge per litre of petrol and diesel consumed, with the aim of improving sanitation infrastructure.

But A Plus argues that despite significant revenue generated over the years, there is little evidence of meaningful progress in sanitation across the country.

He cited an investigative report by The Fourth Estate which revealed that in 2021 alone, GHS 156 million out of the GHS 264 million collected from the levy was disbursed to a single sanitation company. He questioned the value for money, given the continuing poor sanitation conditions in many areas.

A Plus proposed a more sustainable and equitable approach, suggesting that the SPL revenue be decentralized.

He believes each of Ghana’s 261 districts should receive a fair share of the funds to empower local entrepreneurs in waste management — turning sanitation into a source of employment and income.

He emphasized that the issue is not a lack of funds but a lack of equity, transparency, and political will to ensure fair distribution and accountability.

“The citizens deserve better than another tax increase, especially one that burdens the poor while offering little in return,” he said.

NPP members actively involved in galamsey to disgrace Mahama – A Plus alleges [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/npp-members-actively-involved-in-galamsey-to-disgrace-mahama-a-plus-alleges-video/ Fri, 04 Apr 2025 11:17:43 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521795

Gomoa Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of sabotaging efforts to curb illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

According to him, some NPP members have intensified galamsey activities following President John Mahama’s assumption of office, allegedly to tarnish his image.

“Immediately after Mahama’s victory, the NPP decided to return to galamsey sites to disgrace Mahama. The NPP members who were involved in galamsey and failed to stop despite several calls have intensified their operations,” he claimed in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

https://youtu.be/TqyOVPwuiVU

“All the galamsey operators are NPP members who are trying to create the impression that Mahama needs more gold for the Goldbod policy. But they [NPP] have returned to the galamsey sites with the missing excavators that were never found,” he alleged.

A Plus’ claims come days after NPP Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, accused the NDC of failing to take decisive action against the menace.

Speaking at a press conference, Ahiagbah alleged that some NDC members feel emboldened to engage in galamsey, believing the Mahama administration would be lenient on the issue.

Don’t listen to NPP’s noise – A Plus on alleged drug trafficking flight claims [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/dont-listen-to-npps-noise-a-plus-on-alleged-drug-trafficking-flight-claims-listen/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 17:19:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521537 The Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has advised Ghanaians to disregard the noise from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding the alleged drug trafficking flights into the country.

Speaking on the matter in an interview on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem show, A Plus stated that if anyone observes something suspicious, it is their duty to speak out and investigate.

“If someone sees something, then they have to investigate. There’s nothing wrong with pointing out something you’ve noticed. If they put an apple here, no matter the distraction, it will remain an apple,” he noted.

A Plus defended former President John Mahama, adding that he is someone who would even call for investigations when necessary.

“Mahama is a good human being. He’s been there, has the experience, and is ready to build the country,” he lauded.

In response to the NPP’s recent vocal outbursts, A Plus questioned their sudden confidence now that they are no longer in power.

“NPP people now have the courage to speak now that they have left power. I don’t know where they got their confidence from. Now that the NDC is in power, the NPP has started talking. They’re just talking, lying, and throwing dust into our eyes,” he claimed.

The lawmaker stated that Ghanaians should not take the NPP seriously, as he believes they are simply trying to distract the public with unnecessary noise.

“They have suddenly found their voice. If they have issues, they should go ahead and do the needful, but the talking is too much. Now they are seeing how it feels to be in opposition after making things difficult for Ghanaians during their tenure.”

The issue of the suspicious flights has sparked debate, particularly after the Assin South MP, Ntim Fordjour, raised concerns over two flights – AirMed flight NH23AM and Cavok Air private jet Antonov AN 12 B – which allegedly landed in Ghana between March 20 and March 25, 2025.

These flights are suspected of carrying cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash, and the NPP has called for investigations into the matter.

Your sudden confidence annoys me – A Plus tells NPP [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/your-sudden-confidence-annoys-me-a-plus-tells-npp-audio/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 16:49:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521503 Gomoa Central Member of Parliament, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has slammed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over what he describes as their sudden outspokenness after losing power.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, A Plus accused NPP members of ignoring public concerns during their tenure but now making noise on national issues after their defeat in the 2024 elections.

According to him, this newfound confidence is baffling and irritating.

“Suddenly, the NPP has found their voice after leaving power, and the NDC is sitting aloof. Just three days ago, people were being arrested for expressing their views. But now, I don’t even know where their confidence is coming from, and it makes me angry,” he fumed.

He also criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for being passive despite being in power. “Very soon, they [NPP] will sit on radio and TV and start crying that times are hard, but they suffocated and gagged people when they were in power,” he added.

His comments come amid controversy surrounding two aircraft suspected of engaging in illicit activities in Ghana.

Assin South MP, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who is the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, has alleged that an air ambulance and a private jet may have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering.

The flights in question—AirMed flight N823AM and Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B—reportedly landed at Kotoka International Airport from Gran Canaria, Spain, before departing on March 25, 2025.

Rev. Fordjour claimed that intelligence reports suggested the AirMed flight N823AM, an air ambulance, did not transport any patients but instead carried suspicious cargo, allegedly containing cocaine and US dollars.

President John Mahama has since directed the National Security and relevant authorities to conduct a full-scale investigation into the matter and collaborate fully with the lawmaker.

While welcoming the President’s directive, A Plus urged Ghanaians not to take the NPP’s sudden stance on the issue seriously, dismissing it as mere political maneuvering. However, he expressed confidence that a thorough investigation would uncover the truth surrounding the aircraft’s activities.

His sole focus, he noted is on the development of his constituency.

“I don’t like any appointment. My focus is solely on Gomoa Central. I don’t want anything to distract me from the work I have to do for my people,” A Plus as he is popularly known made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show.

A Plus also recalled a conversation with President John Mahama , where he made it clear that he did not want to be a minister.

“It’s not for you to tell Mahama or anyone else to give you an appointment. I am here to serve my people in Gomoa Central.

“I told the President, ‘I don’t want to be a minister. I want to focus on my work as an MP,” he declared.

Reflecting on his upbringing in Asebu, A Plus shared that he and his siblings had seen both struggle and comfort, which gave him insight into the challenges faced by those who are less fortunate.

“Growing up at Asebu, we saw a lot. Even those of us who had something, we felt the hardships. So, I understand how those who don’t have must feel,” he said.

A PLUS ON APPOINTMENT

As the MP for Gomoa Central, A Plus expressed his deep commitment to making a difference.

“As your brother, now an MP, I want to change the lives of the people of Gomoa Central. I will do whatever I can to alleviate the suffering of those who are struggling. I want to make sure that even those who don’t have, at least during my time, will have what they need,” he pledged.

He concluded by reiterating his commitment to his constituency, saying, “All my focus is on Gomoa Central. No distractions, no appointments. My work is for the people.”

In a social media video shared by The 1957 News, A Plus revealed that his perception of the House and its members changed after becoming a part of it.

He admitted that he initially held different views about Parliament but soon realized that operations within the legislative body were more structured than he had imagined.

“I think that Parliament is the most organized public institution in Ghana. This is the only place I have been to where everything works—except for the grass, which is not green,” he remarked.

He further praised the facility managers for ensuring that the infrastructure and amenities within the parliamentary complex are well maintained and fully functional.

“One challenge we have as Ghanaians is that we do not appreciate honesty. But I want to say that before coming here, I had my own perception. Now, I can confidently say that this is a very organized institution,” he added.

A Plus was also present in Parliament during the vetting of some ministerial nominees appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.

A-Plus demands update on Ahmed Suale’s murder investigation, threatens to expose alleged ‘perpetrator’ https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-demands-update-on-ahmed-suales-murder-investigation-threatens-to-expose-alleged-perpetrator/ Tue, 14 Jan 2025 15:02:21 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2492774 Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus and Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central constituency, has issued a strong demand for progress on the investigation into the 2019 murder of journalist Ahmed Suale.

In a Facebook post, A Plus revealed that he was invited to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters last year, where he provided crucial information about the case.

He alleged that a former government Minister orchestrated the crime, citing a “highly credible” source he discussed with the CID director.

Expressing frustration over what he perceives as stagnation in the investigation, A Plus urged the CID director to update the public on its progress.

“It is critical that the CID director updates the public on the progress of the investigation. At this point, it appears the matter has been sidelined,” he emphasized.

A Plus has given the Ghana Police Service a 48-hour ultimatum to provide updates on the case. Failing that, he vowed to use his authority as a Member of Parliament to summon the police to brief Parliament on the matter.

“If no update is provided within 48 hours, I will formally summon the Ghana Police Service to Parliament to account for their efforts on this case,” he declared.

Additionally, A Plus warned that if these measures yield no results, he would disclose what he knows about the case, including the alleged perpetrator’s name, through his social media platforms.

Gomoa Central Constituency will see something new – A Plus assures https://www.adomonline.com/gomoa-central-constituency-will-see-something-new-a-plus-assures/ Sun, 08 Dec 2024 20:25:39 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2481205 The Gomoa Central Constituency, which has been a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the past eight years, has been won by an independent parliamentary candidate, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus.

In an exclusive interview with 3news on December 8, A-Plus shared his excitement as the MP-elect, stating, “I am not excited because I have won, but because Gomoa Central is going to experience something new—a change that will bring real transformation. Gomoa Central will see development in infrastructure and improvements in the lives of its people.”

A-Plus remarked that the outcome did not surprise him, citing the hardships endured by the constituency over the past eight years.

He emphasized, “Politicians need to understand that there is a shift in Ghanaian politics. Gone are the days when people voted based on material benefits. Times have changed.”

He assured constituents of his commitment to addressing their challenges, saying, “I gave Ghanaian politicians the chance to do the right thing and serve the people, but they failed. So, I am stepping up to do it myself.”

One of the constituents, Stephen, explained why he and others voted for A-Plus. He stated, “We are tired of having a female leader. We hoped a woman could bring change, but eight years have been wasted. Men can lead better than women.”

However, some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate expressed disappointment with the results. One said, “We are disappointed, but it’s okay.”

The problem with the Creative Arts sector is the players in the industry – Kwame A-Plus https://www.adomonline.com/the-problem-with-the-creative-arts-sector-is-the-players-in-the-industry-kwame-a-plus/ Tue, 13 Aug 2024 22:54:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2433491 Musician and politician, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A Plus, has expressed his concerns about the challenges facing Ghana’s creative arts sector.

He believes that the industry’s problems are largely caused by the artistes themselves, rather than politicians.

In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, A-Plus highlighted the lack of unity among creative people.

“The problem with creative arts is the creative arts people themselves. It’s not the politicians. Everybody wants to be seen as ‘me doing this. They can’t be united. If you want to help creative arts people, you have to help them with one hand and hold them with another hand because they will beat you.”

Kwame A-Plus cited Shatta Wale’s decision to distance himself from the music industry as an example of the disunity and lack of seriousness among creatives, making it difficult to help them effectively.

“The creative arts issues are just too many. And that is why, I support Shatta Wale because they are not united. Most of them are not serious. It is very difficult to help them,” he said.

Kwame A-Plus emphasised that his focus is on his interests and supporting underprivileged communities, rather than fighting for artistes’ royalties.

“So for me, I’m not in this for anybody’s interest. I mean this for my interests and underprivileged people and communities. If anybody wants to be part of it, I’ll find a place in my setting for them,” he expressed.

He also pointed out that artists often only concern themselves with royalties when their careers are struggling.

“I’m not here to come and spend my time fighting for people’s royalties. Because the people that you are going to fight for, only start talking about royalties when they are not getting shows and are not selling.

“Do you hear Stonebwoy or Sarkodie or all these big artistes fighting over royalties? They are making money now. They are playing shows. They are okay, but once it reduces, then now you find them,” he said.

NPP is made up of people who didn’t like Rawlings – Kwame A-Plus [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/npp-is-made-up-of-people-who-didnt-like-rawlings-kwame-a-plus-video/ Tue, 13 Aug 2024 05:00:15 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2432962 Independent Parliamentary Candidate for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly identified as A Plus, has made a bold statement about the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In an interview on the biggest entertainment radio morning show, Daybreak Hitz,  A Plus classified NPP members as individuals who opposed former President Jerry John Rawlings, rather than adhering to the party’s ideology.

According to Kwame A-Plus, Jerry John Rawlings wanted to sanitise and clean the system, but people rather saw him as an antichrist.

“Rawlings supported Action Chapel, he supported Archbishop Agyinasare’s church he supported them and ensured that he got rid of this go and bring your underwear and let’s burn it churches,” he said.

He further explained that most of the pastors are NPP, and the NPP comprises people who did not like the former president Jerry John Rawlings.

According to him, some of the pastors in Kumasi at the time were engaged in activities that required followers to spend more money than necessary when organizing events like funerals.

“Rawlings did not want you to spend so much money on funerals and all those people will come after you, wanting to make it a profit-making venture. All these people came together against Rawlings.

“So all these pastors, majority of them are NPP and it is not because they understand the ideology, no they just don’t like Rawlings,” he said.

Kwame A-Plus alleged that the majority of NPP members’ parents were thieves, and as a result, Rawlings either got them arrested or beaten.

“I grew up looking up to Rawlings and understanding what he was looking for and Rawlings was a strong Nkrumahist and anybody who believes in Kwame Nkrumah is someone I also admire,” he explained.

Reminiscing back to his secondary school days he recalled Rawlings as the second Kwame Nkrumah, his charisma was something they loved.

Rawlings was not perfect therefore considering him as Angel makes it very difficult for an individual because he made mistakes.

“Rawlings is part of the problem that we are facing now because he gave up,” A-Plus said.

Kwame added, “Rawlings was the only person who could tell everybody in Ghana to sleep and everybody will sleep so he had the opportunity to do a lot but at a point he was tired.”

According to him, he witnessed the aftermath of Kwaw Kese’s manager and his good friend Fennec Okyere’s death, and he vowed to never go down in such fate.

Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, A Plus, who has declared intention to contest for the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat as an independent candidate during December 7 elections, cited his intention to ‘die fighting’.

He went on to explain that, he gave his house address to some people who threatened him but unfortunately, they failed to show up.

“I gave some people who threatened me my house address. I don’t sleep with my phone in my hands. I sleep with my hand on my gun. Sometimes I sit on TV with a gun in my pants. I can be telling a different story…”

“Fennec was in his room, sleeping, and waiting, for someone to break in, cut his fence, and enter to murder him. I couldn’t give the pictures out, I was one of the first people to be there. I still have it on my phone… when I look it at, I tell myself I am not going down like that. Even if I am laid in state, you will see me smiling because I shot someone before dying.”

The suit is coming on the back of A Plus comments about Afia Akoto some few days ago during the height of their ‘beef’.

A Plus had alleged that Maama Afia Akoto had sent her nude pictures to Maxwell Mensah, the husband of TV personality, Nana Ama McBrown, in an attempt to entice him to sleep with her.

Following his publications, Maame Afia Akoto challenged him to substantiate the allegations otherwise they will meet in court.

Following A Plus’s failure to provide evidence, Afia Akoto was left with no option than to file a writ at the High Court (General Jurisdiction), Accra, seeking damages of GHS 5,000,000.00 (Five Million Ghana Cedis) for defamation, including exemplary and punitive damages.

The plaintiff (Afia Akoto) in her statement of claim filed at the high court registry on Tuesday, 16 July 2024, indicated that A-Plus, the defendant has a lot of following on social media in Ghana and abroad owing to his show business activities.

“A-Plus has about 500,000 followers on Facebook, 10,000 followers on Instagram, and 10,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter),” she said.

Plaintiff states that on or about 12 July 2024, A-Plus in a Facebook post, published the following statement concerning her (Afia Akoto).

My husband hasn’t been involved in any scandalous extra marital affair – A Plus’ wife clarifies https://www.adomonline.com/my-husband-hasnt-been-involved-in-any-scandalous-extra-marital-affair-a-plus-wife-clarifies/ Tue, 16 Jul 2024 07:55:01 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2422028 Wife of A Plus, musician-turned-politician, Akosua Vee has come to her husband’s defence, refuting allegations of an affair with an entertainment pundit.

In a social media post, Akosua Vee asserted that, neither she nor her husband has any knowledge of the purported “baby mama” being mentioned.

According to the fashion stylist, even if her “responsible” husband were to engage in activities resulting in the birth of a child, it would be a private family matter, not for public consumption.

She urged the public to treat the allegations against her husband as “baseless speculation.”

“I can state with the utmost certainty that my marriage and family are in excellent standing. I have not met any ‘baby mama’ nor has my husband been involved in any alleged scandalous extra marital affair. Any such rumors should be summarily dismissed as baseless speculation.

“Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that I’m married to a responsible man and no amount of attempt to tarnish his reputation and that of his family will hold. Let me also confirm that I am currently residing outside of the country, rendering the alleged “family sittings” to be a complete fabrication.

“And should my esteemed spouse have engaged in any extramarital entanglements resulting in the birth of a child, that would have been our business and nobody else,” Akosua Vee stated.

Her clarification follows allegations by socialite Afia Schwarzenegger, who claimed that A Plus had been involved in an affair with entertainment pundit MC Yaa Yeboah.

Gomoa Central youth fights NPP over A Plus https://www.adomonline.com/gomoa-central-youth-fights-npp-over-a-plus/ Thu, 12 Oct 2023 21:00:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2305245 Some angry youth of Gomoa Central in the Central region have warned members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop threatening musician cum politician, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus.

Last Saturday, some NPP youth who invaded Accra-based UTV studios, singled out A Plus and demanded an apology for his incessant attacks on government.

The group vowed to deal with him if he fails to heed to their call.

But the youth in Gomoa Central claims government is targeting the musician because he is a threat to its political fortunes in 2024.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the leader of the group, Alex Donkor said A Plus is being threatened because he has declared his intention to contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.

His candidature, he stated is a threat to incumbent Member of Parliament, Naana Eyiah Quansah.

Mr. Donkor urged the NPP national executives to call their youth to order or face their wrath.

Meanwhile, A Plus has predicated landslide victory in the parliamentary elections and admonished potential aspirants to allow him go unopposed to save them money and time.

Attack on UTV: Nothing scares me – A Plus https://www.adomonline.com/attack-on-utv-nothing-scares-me-a-plus/ Mon, 09 Oct 2023 14:55:24 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2303608 Ghanaian musician and politician, Kwame A Plus has said no one can intimidate to kowtow to his whims and caprices.

According to him, his freedom of speech is guaranteed under the 1992 Constitution.

On Saturday, some men believed to be affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party stormed the premise of UTV and temporarily interrupted the United Showbiz show.

They threatened to attack the host and her panel, accusing them of disparaging the ruling administration unfairly.

The NPP youth singled out A Plus and demanded an apology for his incessant attacks on government.

But reacting to this on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Monday, A Plus said he cannot be gagged.

In his view, what he does is constructive criticism not insults as the irate NPP youth wants everyone to believe.

“I will never diss Akufo-Addo. I support Kennedy Agyapong but I will never insult Bawumia. The people of Ghana rather want to hear the truth,” he said.

The controversial musician bemoaned how government clandestinely wants to set the agenda for some television stations in the country.

A Plus said he will happily exit the show should the producers decide to take him off.

“I am never hungry and I have spent years going to school. If you take me off UTV, I can go and talk on Facebook. Do you know how many people will listen? I don’t care, sometimes you have to let people know how expensive you are” he added.

Yvonne Nelson’s abortion revelation: A Plus goes to Sarkodie’s defence https://www.adomonline.com/yvonne-nelsons-abortion-revelation-a-plus-goes-to-sarkodies-defence/ Tue, 20 Jun 2023 13:45:23 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2262381 Ghanaian politician and musician Kwame A Plus has expressed support for Sarkodie amidst the recent revelations made by actress Yvonne Nelson in her memoir.

Nelson disclosed that she had terminated a pregnancy for the music star back in 2010, causing a stir across social media and the entertainment industry.

The news quickly gained traction online, with fans and the media eagerly discussing the shocking revelation.

A Plus has now voiced his opinion on the matter, stating that Sarkodie made the right choice by accompanying Yvonne Nelson to a healthcare facility for the abortion.

His reasoning behind this support stems from Yvonne’s alleged resemblance to her mother.

A Plus explained that Yvonne Nelson’s mother had attempted to terminate her pregnancy and concealed the identity of her real father.

This history, according to A Plus, suggests that Yvonne has inherited certain traits from her mother.

He highlighted Yvonne’s public admiration of her mother, even celebrating her on Father’s Day, only to discover later that her father was not who she believed him to be.

After a DNA test, Yvonne allegedly learned that her biological father was Peter Adjetey, the former Speaker of Parliament.

However, even this revelation was clouded by doubts due to issues with the DNA testing process.

A Plus questioned the logic behind expecting Sarkodie, a young and promising artist at the time, to accept a pregnancy from someone who displayed characteristics similar to Yvonne’s mother.

Praising Sarkodie’s decision, A Plus stated that it was the best course of action. He argued that had Sarkodie accepted the pregnancy, it would have resulted in a situation where the narrative could potentially be altered in the future, with claims that Sarkodie was not the child’s biological father, but rather someone else like Inyanya or one of Yvonne’s numerous boyfriends.

Simultaneously, A Plus held Yvonne Nelson’s mother accountable for her daughter’s inability to confront the truth.

He accused her of casting an innocent man in a negative light, despite knowing who the real father was. A Plus concluded his remarks by criticizing this behavior as an example of the supposed wickedness of women.

In summary, Kwame A Plus has shown support for Sarkodie’s decision and questioned the expectation that he should have accepted Yvonne Nelson’s pregnancy given the alleged resemblance to her mother.

A Plus also criticized Yvonne’s mother for her role in the situation and expressed disapproval toward women in general.

A Plus cautions Kuami Eugene over ‘decision’ to leave Lynx Entertainment https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-cautions-kuami-eugene-over-decision-to-leave-lynx-entertainment/ Mon, 25 Jul 2022 13:37:13 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2141633 Musician and political activist, Kwame A Plus, has alleged that Kuami Eugene wants to exit his current record label, Lynx Entertainment, owned by veteran musician and producer, Richie Mensah.

According to A Plus, he supports Kuami Eugene’s decision to leave if he has clear-cut plans to project his music career further, but also added that the Lynx signee should be careful too since it can equally dip his career.

A Plus’s advice follows MzVee’s decision to leave Lynx Entertainment record label to go solo as an artiste.

Fast-forward, she has since complained about how the industry doesn’t support the craft of female musicians in the music space.

But A Plus, speaking on UTV’s weekend show, said Kuami Eugene should be vigilant with regard to the rumours circulating because it is never easy being an independent artiste.

A Plus stressed that, the record label does tons of work for artistes signed onto the platform, hence exiting means the musician must start to do everything on their own.

“Kuami Eugene should be vigilant… Where he is, if he stays, it will help him. If he wants to leave, he should be careful that he has seen something ahead. I am not saying that one should stay somewhere forever. If he is contemplating, that is okay because I have heard some rumours.

“Wherever he wants to do, I support him. Wherever he wants to go, I’m okay. I have some intel that there is some uneasy calm with him and his record label. I know it’s a good move for everyone to aspire to go higher…,” he said.

A Plus explained that Akufo-Addo demonstrated proper leadership skills and principles as a politician who could help build Ghana.

“I grew up looking at Nana Akufo-Addo as a very principled person, as a great man. I still admire him a lot even though I’m not excited about his leadership, I have a lot of respect for him,” he stated.

A Plus added that he campaigned for candidate Akufo-Addo because of the potential he saw in him.

ALSO:

“… yes I campaigned for NPP to come to power, however, I’m not happy about everything that has happened.

“Those who don’t see anything wrong with Nana Akufo-Addo don’t know him, we know his capabilities and who he is and what he is capable of doing. We expect him not to be just an ordinary President, but we expected something different and that is why we are disappointed,” he reiterated.

The musician turned politician told Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning that, he constantly criticises Akufo-Addo because he knows him very well and believes he could have done better as President.

Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng added that the only thing that borders him, despite his admiration is that President Akufo-Addo failed to meet his expectation when he alleged that some of his appointees are corrupt.

A Plus revealed that he was happy with how the President initially reacted to his allegations thinking he (The President) would deal with such people as he always preached, but he later realised it was a setup to silence him.

“I didn’t do anything wrong, I only said somebody is corrupt and is not helping the government in any way, so we have to sit up and look at this and they said take him to the CID to conduct an investigation and I saw that there were lots of setups trying to silence me.

“Then other issues happened and those people are cleared, and I am disappointed everybody can be cleared except me,”  A Plus lamented.

A Plus finally speaks on Shatta Wale’s fight with Burna Boy https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-finally-speaks-on-shatta-wales-fight-with-burna-boy/ Mon, 17 Jan 2022 12:27:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2067954 Musician and politician, Kwame A Plus, has finally waded in on dancehall musician Shatta Wale’s recent altercation with Nigeria’s Burna Boy on social media.

According to him, he refused to speak on the issue because the duo can stage the beef to promote their music careers in both countries.

He explained that he has since tried to engage Shatta Wale to know the truth in the whole saga but it has remained futile.

A Plus said it is difficult to know the truth even to the extent that Shatta Wale has refused to report to the Ghana Police after Burna Boy threatened his life.

For all you know, Burna Boy and Shatta are planning a collaboration to break into the Nigerian music industry. It happens all the time!! Has Shatta himself reported to the police that a Nigerian has threatened to kill him and therefore the police must arrest him on arrival in Ghana or prevent him from entering our country?

If the answer is no, then he doesn’t feel threatened. So why must I cry more than the bereaved? One must be tactful in such situations, part of A Plus’ statement read.

Read the post below:

But on a more serious note, the reason why I’ve not commented on this issue is that it is very difficult to tell which one is a publicity stunt (It’s part of the game) and which one is a real threat in such situations.

Before any comment is made, there is the need for some clarification. I tried to speak with Shatta wale(shatta movement) on phone for the aforesaid but he has not gotten back to me yet. What if both of them decided to stage it for whatever reason? What if Burna Boy called Shatta to say “My people are not giving the Ghanaian music industry the needed support. Let’s stage this or that.

It all started when Burna threw a challenge to Shatta Wale for a one-on-one fight for calling out Nigerian acts over their lack of support and loyalty.

This triggered Shatta who accepted the fight and chose Accra Sports Stadium as the venue.

Shatta promised to break Burna Boy’s neck after the latter stated that he had since January 2021 dreamt of seeing Shatta Wale’s teeth and blood on his fist and floor.

What many thought was a planned beef became personal when the duo started exposing personal secrets and allegations of rape.

According to Burna, his rage against Shatta started when he attempted to take advantage of a girl he introduced to her, while Shatta also accused him of same.

Meanwhile, it all came to an end when Burna Boy apologised for his actions, adding that, it wasn’t apt to fight Shatta Wale in the first place.

Hammer wasnt the only public figure who commented against A Plus’s assertion. Singer Iona Reine equally lambasted the The People’s Party leader for complaining about every happening in the country.

She wrote: Please sir the way you love to complain about everything are you sure your ancestry do not run from the Israelites? God gave them manna and they said everyday manna we want fish ebiaa na wo yer no oo ayoo.

Earlier, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia launched the initiative to distribute laptops to all teachers in public schools in the country to help improve the quality of education.

Under the programme, teachers will bear 30 per cent of the cost of the laptops while government absorbs the remaining 70 per cent.

However, a teachers group calling itself Innovative Teachers is worried about the quality of laptops under the ‘One Teacher One Laptop’ programme in fulfilment of the government’s pledge to equip Ghanaian teachers.

Why are you after Lordina and not Nana Konadu? – A Plus asks NPP members https://www.adomonline.com/why-are-you-after-lordina-and-not-nana-konadu-a-plus-asks-npp-members/ Wed, 14 Jul 2021 13:59:29 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1986894 Musician cum politician, Kwame A Plus, says New Patriotic Party (NPP) members who are asking former First Lady, Lordina Mahama, to return allowances paid her in the previous government are rather after ex-President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, he doesn’t comprehend why NPP gurus such as John Boadu, the party’s General Secretary will ask Mrs Mahama to refund her allowances while it’s evident she isn’t the only former First Lady living in the country.

In a Facebook post, Kwame A Plus said no one asked First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Second Lady Samira Bawumia to return their allowances after days of backlash, hence it’s not apt to ask Mrs Mahama to emulate the act.

Additionally, A Plus said the attack on Mrs Mahama goes a long way to prove that his husband, former President Mahama is the one they are after.

In a long piece on his Facebook page, A Plus further queried why the NPP will go after only Mrs Mahama when other former First Ladies such as Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings and Madam Theresa Kufuor among others were equally paid allowances.

Suddenly, these m*f*s in NPP have come together to ask Lordina Mahama to return allowances (not salary) she received yet they are not asking Nana Konadu who has benefited from Nsawam to Cantonments to return allowances because the target is John Mahama.

Kwame A Plus

Ghanaians know!! They are wise!! These tricks won’t work!!! If you don’t allow the wise people in your party to come back to communicate sense to the citizens, you’ll lose more in 2024, he said in the post.

Read the full statement below:

Why attack Lordina and leave out former First Ladies? – A Plus

After giving everything including free water and electricity to Ghanaians, they voted massively against the NPP. The reason is that the citizens knew the electricity and water were a trick. That is why they voted against them.

Sadly, the many wise people who speak sense on behalf of the party have been sidelined by a bunch of people who take the wrong bus to school daily ? Even the mentally disturbed person at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital knows that they are dumb!!!

Nobody has asked the former and current first lady to return ALLOWANCES paid them. Kwame Nkrumah’s and Dr Hilla Liman’s families have always been taken care of by current and previous governments. Akufo-Addo has taken care of Nana Konadu big time. We all accept that they deserve some allowances.

What people are against is to make them Article 71 holders and give them back pay and ex-gratia.

Fortunately, the current first lady who is my personal person herself has rejected it. I love her, her sister planned my wedding. I’m very close to her family. I’m biased towards them, I won’t lie, but I was disappointed when I heard the news and I’m happy she made me proud.

Suddenly, these mof*s in NPP have come together to ask Lordina Mahama to return allowances (not salary) she received yet they are not asking Nana Konadu who has benefited from Nsawam to Cantonments to return allowances because the target is John Mahama.

Ghanaians know!! They are wise!! These tricks won’t work!!! If you don’t allow the wise people in your party to come back to communicate sense to the citizens, you’ll lose more in 2024.

NPP had the men!!! Now they have a boy’s brigade and are led by dadabee ??? who can’t slap them to stop fooling!!!

You can spend your day here insulting. I’m going to chill in Porto Rico. Will send you photos ok ??????.

Ghanaians should get ready for more judgment debts – A Plus https://www.adomonline.com/ghanaians-should-get-ready-for-more-judgment-debts-a-plus/ Fri, 02 Jul 2021 12:56:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1981662 Musician cum politician, Kwame A Plus, has asked Ghanaians to get ready for many judgement debts after a Kumasi High Court slapped the government with a $15.3 million judgment debt for the unlawful seizure of excavators.

According to A Plus, who earlier vented his spleen against government burning excavators of illegal miners, there are many judgement debts on the way.

He wrote a piece on Facebook below:

Not long ago I shared a video in which I stated that the decision by the government to burn mining equipment is not the brightest bulb in the box and anyone who supports that action has either lost grey matter or are simply ding-bats, ignorant about judicial remedies, educated fools or misinformed individuals.

Now, read the attached document. A Kumasi High Court has ruled that the Government of Ghana has to pay over 15 million dollars (about 90 million Ghana Cedis) judgement debt for confiscating and not being able to account for mining equipment belonging to Heritage Imperial Limited.

MORE:

According to the High Court judge, the invasion of the mining site was unlawful. The sad part is that the government failed to appeal the court’s decision.

In my opinion, there are two reasons why the Attorney General failed to appeal:

1. The state did not have a case.

2. The whole Galamsey fight is a grand scheme by the state to “create loot and share.”

If we are to pay 15 million for not being able to account for confiscated equipment, how much are we going to pay for destroying equipment belonging to Madam Kate Gyamfua and many other companies who had permits from state institutions to mine legally?

Kwame A plus

Get ready for many judgment debts soon. Are you not amazed that a president, who is a lawyer, supported and stated at no other place than the sod cutting of the law village that he supports such illegality when he knew very well that the state will pay?

Why hasn’t anyone been arrested for missing confiscated equipment when Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has mentioned the names of officials involved in this criminal act.

If Akufo-Addo is not confused and inconsistent, then he is in the business of creating loot and share! He is at liberty to choose any of the two aforesaid.

Why Ghanaians shouldn’t support burning of ‘galamsey’ excavators – A Plus [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/why-ghanaians-shouldnt-support-burning-of-galamsey-excavators-a-plus-video/ Thu, 27 May 2021 15:19:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1965311 Musician cum politician, Kwame A Plus, has asked Ghanaians to talk against the burning of excavators and other mining equipment being used to mine illegally across the country.

According to him, during ex-President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, some illegal miners, who had their excavators burnt, were paid back their money through court order with tax payers’ money.

He has, therefore, advised the incumbent government to rather seize the mining equipment so the owners can be tracked through their chassis numbers for prosecution to follow.

If its burnt and they are taken to court, they will be paid with tax payer’s money… Meanwhile, we are going for loan to work on the Odaw River… Can’t we seize the excavators to do the work?

MORE:

If they go to work and win they won’t make noise about it. The government will have to pay if they win the case. Someone has permit to mine from the same government so they will have to pay.

These are some of the things that do not allow the government to focus on buying beds for hospitals among others affecting Ghanaians.

Detailing what can be done against burning of the excavators, the TPP leader asked government to rather seize them and put them to use through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

If the police seize the excavators, they will then give it to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources then they will give to government institutions to work then it will be gazetted.

As someone who had so much faith in the Akufo-Addo led government to deliver on its mandate, he has bemoaned the President has become too soft for the position.

A Plus disclosed this on Adom TV’s Nnaw)twe yi as pressure mounts on the government to fix the country.

“Akufo-Addo is the real man of peace even than Atta Mills but where we have gotten to as a country, we need someone with the temperament of a lion like Kennedy Agyapong to be president.

“Akufo-Addo is now a pastor and too nice to rule Ghana but you can’t be nice and rule the country because Jesus was not nice and that was why he was able to rebuke the Pharisees,” he stated.

He explained the incumbent government condemned a lot of wrongs under the erstwhile Mahama administration, however, the same things seem to be glaring at them in the face yet they remain silent.

A Plus stressed President Akufo-Addo was one fearless and fearful personality who many Ghanaians believed was going to turn around the fortunes of the country.

“People were happy we have had the President who is courageous to lead the country and make firm decisions but it doesn’t seem ‘the I believe in Ghana’ exists any longer,” he lamented.

A Plus reacts after Police turned down #FixTheCountryNow demo https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-reacts-after-police-turned-down-fixthecountrynow-demo/ Wed, 05 May 2021 17:52:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1955527 Musician cum politician, Kwame A Plus, has slammed the Ghana Police Service after saying it cannot sanction the proposed #FixTheCountryNow protest as it goes against the ban on public gatherings.

According to A Plus, it goes a long way to showcase the double standards of the security service because in the past two months similar demonstrations were held against Ex-President John Dramani Mahama in Accra.

The Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Effia Tenge, on Citi FM, said “the Police cannot sanction such illegality.”

“The Command received a letter of notification on Tuesday afternoon of an intended demonstration slated for the 9th of this month. The Regional Command met the convener, who was accompanied by one other person. We told them that we understand their standpoint but then, there [are restrictions] on public gatherings, as such, the Command may not be able to provide the necessary security for the proposed demonstration.”

MORE:

“However, they may come back when the restrictions are lifted,” she added.

Reacting to this, Kwame A Plus tagged the Greater Accra Regional Police Command as hypocrites.

Additionally, he queried whether Covid-19 wasn’t at play when these demonstrations took off in the past weeks.

He wrote:

Ghana Police Service, hypocrites!!! Shameless hypocrites!!! No wonder Dr Nyankson is a senior police officer. Very typical of you guys.

Just last month two demonstrations were held against president Mahama in Accra.  One at Kawukudi and the other at International press Centre. That time Covid-19 had traveled to Lesotho abi? Against John Mahama it was ok.

Kwame a plus

Now that it is about fixing the whole country for all of us you are dragging your feet. Enemies of the state!!! This kind of bias policing has the tendency of getting you beaten like ASP Nanka Bruce when government changes.

According to him, there are many problems facing the country that needs attention, hence the construction of the Ghana Award House is useless.

Taking to Facebook to share the message with Ghanaians, A Plus said: We don’t have textbooks, ? we are so broke that the government has increased taxes and introduced new ones to salvage the economy, Ghana is back to ‘dumsor’ due to lack of funds to fuel power plants,  (Tell the people the truth).

He continued by saying:

You have asked workers not expect salary increase because there is no money, children still school under trees in 2021, people drink dirty water ?from the same pond with animals, you have not begun your 88 district hospitals because there is no money, women give birth on the floor, existing hospital lack beds, ? MORE:

According to him, Ghana is far behind in terms of development to be discussing whether Rastafarians should be allowed into SHS or not.

He explained that while many pride themselves in supporting their alma mater, there is the need to focus on developing the country in terms of being abreast with the latest technology than debating over simple issues.

Taking to his Facebook page to vent his spleen, A Plus said he could not fathom why people will be concerned about the admission of Rastafarians at a time when the educational system is poor to the extent that Ghanaians import toothpicks and firecrackers.

MORE:

Read what he typed below:

Students have been cutting their hair before independence yet Ghana Atomic Energy can not produce knockout or fireworks for Christmas; we import knockout and toothpick from China.

Achimota school has produced majority of the people who have held key positions in this country. ‘I went to Achimota, I went to Achimota’ yet Ghana no enoaa nie countries where students don’t cut their hair are landing rovers on Mars and opening women’s wombs to operate on babies before they are born.

In a Facebook live video, A Plus recalled receiving a telephone call from a top government official who asked him to do dirty job against Mr Acheampong because he was being stubborn.

In 2008, after the election, I fought with Bryan Acheampong… When it started the (official)… told me that NPP communication had gone for a meeting and the team said Bryan was stubborn so I should attack him.

That time I was a fool. The time the politicians were using us is past. Everyone is going through a phase… I was stupid then.

A Plus further alleged that after the NPP had won the 2016 elections, some NPP big guns again asked him to attack Mr Acheampong, the current Minister of State at the Ministry of National Security, because it was likely he was going to be appointed a minister by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to him, it doesn’t make sense for police officers to ask for monies from citizens who expect them to protect their lives.

He explained that the rate at which policemen are begging by the roadside is becoming appalling, hence those involved and caught in the act must be sanctioned.

If you have caused that traffic because you are opening car boots and checking for arms etc that is ok.

But to use police uniform to block the road and beg for money for mosquito coil is pure nonsense!!! He said.

While the real robbers will be on our highways killing MPs and civilians.

If you have caused that traffic because you are opening car boots and checking for arms etc that is ok.

But to use police uniform to block the road and beg for money for mosquito coil is pure nonsense!!!

There are so many noble police officers in the service today. Those who don’t respect themselves must be removed.

And those of you who take MoMo, take people to ATM machines to withdraw cash for you – a friend even said a police officer divided his bread into two and took half because he was driving without his licence. Be careful.

I like the police who do snap checks at unsuspecting places. They are doing a great job. Not police who have been at one place for 15 years.

If you erect a barrier on a particular road for 15 years and the same police stand there every other night which criminal will use that road? Won’t the criminals even make friends with the police?

This country nankasa…. I don’t know how we think. And Hey!!! Don’t be there thinking ?that Kwame A Plus, he is on Facebook talking about police, when we get him he will see.”

Borga you can’t do foko. I’m telling you!!! Go and ask Dr Nyankson. He asked Fianko, the station officer at cyber crime unit to invite me to CID headquarters a month ago, I told Fianko to tell him that me, Kwame A Plus, I said I won’t come!!! It has been over a month.

He has not done anything and he cannot do anything!! I’m not one of those people you can intimidate.

I am not above the law and I won’t be below the law. I know the laws of this country very very well!!

When people talk about the problems in this country instead of solving the problem the criminals who cause the problems target those talking about the problem.

According to him, he cannot understand why he would receive the initial amount he loaned the country over three decades ago without any interest.

D.K. Poison had been waiting for more than four decades for the re-payment of a loan he extended to the Government of Ghana from his fight purse.

According to the legend, he earned a purse of $75,000 from that bout and was paid an amount of 34,000 cedis, through a transfer at the then Barclays Bank, which was equivalent to $30,000 at the time.

This meant that an outstanding amount of $45,000 was to be paid to him.

But reacting to this, A Plus lauded the First Man for the move but insisted he had to pay him with interest for helping the country some years ago.

Too many criminals around Akufo-Addo making corruption fight difficult – A Plus https://www.adomonline.com/too-many-criminals-around-akufo-addo-making-corruption-fight-difficult-a-plus/ Tue, 25 Aug 2020 13:34:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1845090 Controversial musician, A Plus. says there are too many criminals around President Nana Akufo-Addo which makes the fight against corruption very difficult.

This, the NPP-affiliated singer born Kwame Asare Obeng believes will dent the President’s legacy in nipping the canker in the bud.

“There are too many criminals around the president. Too many people want to use his government for their personal interest and it will affect his legacy.

“This is someone we have been with and helping the President protect the public purse by fighting corruption. Some people around him have decided to fight us; which is very wrong,” he opined.

Speaking in an interview with Roland Walker on the AM Show Monday, he bemoaned the attacks unleashed on him in pointing out the ills in the current administration.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo in his inaugural speech invited Ghanaians to be citizens and not spectators, but in doing so, some individuals in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) he considered enemies of the state have decided to fight him.

Kwame A Plus said this phenomenon remains an affront to safeguarding the public purse.

“The president told us to be citizens and help him protect the public purse. When he came to power, that is what we wanted to do for him. Protecting the public purse comes with issues that people don’t want to hear,” he said.

The outspoken musician lamented the failure of the Akufo-Addo-led administration to fulfill its promise in halting corruption.

He insisted President Akufo-Addo has given many of his appointees too much freedom to engage in corrupt practices of which he later exonerated them from wrongdoings.

ALSO READ:

“Nana Akufo-Addo knows some of the issues that are not right but I think it is very difficult to lead the NDC and NPP. The institution itself is built on corruption, so even if they put you on top as the leader, the guys will come to you and force you to be one of them,” A Plus said.

When asked what four cardinal principles President Akufo-Addo preached prior to coming into office but have now been breached, Kwame A Plus said, “corruption, corruption, corruption corruption.”

The social commentator indicated that the current government established a Special Prosecutor’s Office aside other anti-graft agencies at its disposal but failed to retrieve monies for the state.

He added that “the only person that is retrieving monies for the state that you and I know is the Auditor-General. He is the only one who is in the physical fight against corruption and he is the one they don’t like.”

Kwame A Plus has started putting together what he described as a ‘Third Force’ to give any government in power, a sense of responsibility to deliver its campaign promises to the citizens.

“We are all sinners. There is no big sin and small sin. If God should punish all of us for our sins we may be worse. We must not rejoice when even our enemies are going through difficult times. Let’s remember him in prayer…. ?? “

A Plus also wanted to know his whereabouts to support him.

“NB: Kindly assist us with his whereabouts if you know ??,” he noted.

A Plus scores Akufo-Addo 30%, says Mahama is better https://www.adomonline.com/a-plus-scores-akufo-addo-30-says-mahama-is-better/ Thu, 05 Dec 2019 06:31:51 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=1729328 Political Activist Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) has scored the Akufo-Addo government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 30% for its performance in office.

According to him, President Nana Akufo-Addo, his preferred presidential candidate, who he boldly defended and for whom he rallied support ahead of the 2016 elections, has been a disappointment.

A Plus said Akufo-Addo has performed below par and suggested that the President has been dishonest to Ghanaians.

“If you tell us John Mahama is doing something which is not good and that you will come and do better but you come and do worse; … You tell us John Mahama is practising a family-and-friends government and we all believed you and went and told the electorate that John Mahama is enforcing a family-and-friends regime and you came to power and introduced family-and-friends in government, it means you are someone who does not tell the truth,” A Plus bemoaned.

He continued: “If you tell me that John Mahama is incompetent and one of the reasons was that he had 87 ministers and I go and campaign. You tell me to wake up at dawn to go and do door-to-door [campaigns], moving from room to room at Accra Polytechnic, entering ladies rooms and assuring them that when Nana Addo comes to power, he will reduce the number of ministers and then you come to power and you increase it from 87 to 120-plus, and there are ministries that have three deputy ministers, Chief Directors… when it happens that way, then you have disappointed the people who love you,” he lamented.

The musician, who said he stands for the truth, added that: “The followers of NPP, who believed [the things he told them] are disappointed, because you told us that the Ghana cedi under John Mahama was GHS3.7 [to USD 1] and it has made the cedi very weak, but you have rather taken us to 5-plus, and that is what hurts. It isn’t that anyone hates Nana and feels he is a bad person”.

A Plus, who fell out with the NPP over some disagreements in the past, noted: “We followed Nana Addo because of his knowledge, ideas and plans, so, if you come and do what the erstwhile government did, then we are disappointed in you. That is why I will give the NPP government a very low rating because ever since we came to power, it has always been a comparison between the incompetent former president and the one that we brought to do the job. That is not what we want, but to be able to say we told you [electorate] that Ghana will change when Akufo-Addo comes to power and that is what you are witnessing but that is not the case”.

A Plus also criticised the President’s advisors and accused them of bringing embarrassment to Mr Akufo-Addo on countless occasions in relation to numerous issues, the recent one being the botched 17 December 2009.

“The people around him humiliate him every day and the last was the referendum fiasco. I told them that if they get a 40% turnout, out of 75%, I will shut down my Facebook account and never use the social media platform again. They lied to the President and they have done that over and over again”.

According to him, he has even shown magnanimity with the 30 per cent rating he has given the government.

A Plus, however, singled out the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme, as “a good thing”.

He said he will always defend free education.
