Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has described scoring the decisive goal in Manchester City’s FA Cup final victory as a “dream come true” after his moment of brilliance sealed a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley.

The 26-year-old produced the match-winning strike in the 2026 final, improvising with a clever backheel finish in a tightly contested encounter last Saturday to hand City another major trophy.

The triumph marked City’s second silverware in three months, following their Carabao Cup success against Arsenal in March.

Reflecting on the goal, Semenyo admitted the moment felt almost unreal.

“It feels surreal, to be honest. I don’t even have words to describe it,” he said.

The winger revealed the technique was not accidental, but something he had worked on in training.

“[In terms of the goal], it’s happened a couple of times in training. It happened perfectly today.

“It was behind me, and as long as I got contact on it and it was towards goal, I was hoping it would go in.”

He added that the speed of the move left him little time to think, forcing him to rely on instinct inside the box.

“Everything happened so fast. I wanted to get into the box and make sure I was a presence. It came straight to me, and I just had to improvise as quickly as I could.

“I’m happy with the finish and grateful. It was good enough contact, timed perfectly, and Sánchez couldn’t get there.”

Looking back on his journey, the forward said lifting trophies with one of Europe’s top clubs remains a deeply personal milestone.

“As a kid, I always wanted to play for the top teams, competing for trophies and shining. I’m grateful. I just had to keep working hard, and you get your chance.

“I’ve never competed for trophies like this before. Everything is new to me,” he added.

Manchester City now turn their attention back to the Premier League, with an away trip to AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday, before closing their campaign against Aston Villa on Sunday.
