New Patriotic Party communicator, Ernest Yaw Kumi

A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is shocked the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is jubilating about the recent erratic power supply in the country also known as ‘dumsor.’

Ernest Yaw Kumi described as unfortunate how a party seeking power will be happy about a phenomenon which causes deaths and collapses businesses.

Civil society groups and political
parties have raised red flags about the unstable power supply in the country.

They are waning government not to return Ghanaians to ‘dumsor’ which destabilised the economy in 2014 and 2016. The power crisis at the time resulted in load-shedding which compelled many businesses to even fold up.

But, speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Wednesday, Mr Kumi said there is no cause for alarm.

He explained that ‘dumsor’ under the NDC was due to constraints in hydro- power generation due to low thermal power generation, but the current situation is different.

“The engineers have given us just 10 days; let’s not panic and fall for the NDC’s propaganda. We will deliver,” he assured.

Mr Kumi said a government which provided stable power supply for two years is more than capable to restore it in 10 days.
