Residents of Adenta Madina in the Greater Accra region have resolved to press home their demands until their footbridges are fixed.
At least 192 people have died since the beginning of this year as a result of incomplete footbridges, a situation that has forced residents to cross the road at unapproved points.
Although the government has indicated it may not be able to complete the construction of the footbridge until next year, the residents have resolved to pile pressure to address the needless deaths.

The leader of the advocacy group, FIXOURBRIDGESNOW, Dr Sam Kojo Coffie, on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Friday said it was obvious the government does not value human lives.
He revealed that four people die on the road every week and those in charge have turned blind eyes to the unfortunate happenings.
Dr Coffie said the 2019 timeline for fixing footbridges means many more people will be knocked and killed by speeding vehicles hence want some urgent action to avert the unforeseen.

He said some parents have had to withdraw their children from schools near that road for fear of losing them to accidents.
Dr Coffie maintained that their scheduled peaceful walk will still come off on Monday, November 12, 2018, until they see to call authorities attention to the “needless and shameful death”
We will be happy when we see the traffic lights, footbridges and all safety measures in place,” he added.
