The Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat became vacant following the passing of Mr Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, the Member of Parliament for the area, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.

The NPP has held the seat since 2000, with Mr. Agyarko succeeding Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the current Chief of Staff in January 2013.

The NPP is hoping to retain the seat after electing widow of the late MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan as a candidate.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Sammy Awuku said they are leaving no stone unturned ahead of the elections.

Though Ayawaso West Wougon is their stronghold, he said they are hoping to increase the votes they got in the 2016 general elections.

“We are determined to win this election so we are campaigning as if we are in opposition” he stated.
