School children at the Abokobi cluster of schools in the Ga East Municipality in the Greater Accra region are forced to either sit on the floor or stand for hours during lessons due to lack of desks in the school.

Some teachers who spoke to Adom News said they were disappointed to see the school children go through the pain of sitting and standing on the floor even though provisions have been made for desks.

They have attributed the situation to hoarding.

“An Ashfoam Company donated some dual desks to the school but the municipal director of education has given a directive for all the desks to be packed in a new six-unit classroom block which is not in use,” a teacher claimed.

All efforts to get the Municipal Director of Education to speak on the issue have proved futile because he has refused to answer his calls.
