Muslim leaders in the country have been called upon to consider using text messages to call their members to worship instead of the usual megaphones.
This, according to the Environment, Science, Technology and Innovations Minister, Prof Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, will help reduce noise pollution in the country.

“In the house of worship, why is it that the noise will be limited to the house of worship…and again maybe from the mosque, why is it that time for prayer would not be transmitted with text message or whatsapp so the Imam will send whatsapp message to everybody that the time for prayer is up so appear…,” he suggested.

The Minister who took his turn at the Meet the Press series said although his recommendation ‘maybe controversial’ but he was sure that it has to be considered.
Prof Frimpong Boateng also called on churches to also consider limiting the noise that is generated from their auditoriums during service.

  1. what kind of nonsense is that? how many churches make noise on Saturdays and Sundays in the name of service. don’t even go there. stupid minister. I’m in my house come and meet me.

  2. Islam is made of renovation. And we would do such no thing in this county. Come and prove to us where in the Quran does Allah said we should use text messages to call Muslims to prayer.check in your bible and u would find Azan there (Revelation 7:10-11,psalm55:16-17,nehemiah9:4).

  3. this is a stupid suggestion by the learned professor. Doe he have an idea how many people come to offer prayers in a particular time. He must be reminded that in Islam there are no specific denominal mosques that capture certain categories of worshippers. Wherever a Muslim gets to, he prays in any available mosque where Te azan is called. So how do these “stranger worshippers”get information about a call to prayer?
The professor should concentrate his energies to the churches that churn out high volumes of noise all the week round. I hope he has traveled around some commercial places around Accra and elsewhere where loud speakers are mounted in public spaces and loud noises are made to disturb the environment all in the name of preaching. These are the nuisance he should combat and not bring his frustrations onto the Islamic world. How many minutes do muslims spend in the mosque at a time? Less than 10 minutes, compared to his Christian colleagues who spend several hours in market places, churches, lorry parks, etc humming out undesirable nuisance to the environment. This hipocrisy must stop. Professor is a learned man, I agree. But he causes me to accept Mo Ibrahim’s analysis which suggested that people above 60 years of age do not qualify to be elected or nominated into public service. Prof should apologize to the muslim ummah and dare not make such unwanted interference again. If he had nothing to tell the media, he could have resheduled his appearance until he contacted the more energetic youth for civil and responsible methods of tackling environmental pollution.

    • So you can’t mske you point without the needless insults?
Have you even understood the context within which the minister makes this suggestion or you are some blind auto pilot homo sapien? ‍♂️‍♂️

      • The minister does not understand what he is saying, he shouldn’t have gone there.
That the Imaam should sent SMS, the Imaam doesn’t call anyone to prayer.

      • This minister paaaa how possible. If u think of noise pollution then go to the roadside and stop those preachers who made car hits people bcos of the excess noise they make. Even how many min does the azan even the prayer itself does not last more than 10 min. Ebeeii professor

    • Ahsan my bro so called himself professor need a lot to learn the certificate of professor he’s holding has no use Muslims doesn’t have a specific mosque for praying how could the Imaam use text message or WhatsApp to call them he’s out of his sense, above 60 doesn’t or should not be elected to lead the public what stupidity suggestion is that.
      Thank you big bro
      Jazaakallãh Khairan.

  4. Ok, this is his foolish opinion.
He said that Muslims should consider using text messages for their worship, but Christians should lower the noise, this time no gadget prescribed for them.
For me the minister should resign.
Ghanaians have lived with our religious differences for centuries and now somebody else is going to provoke us.
    To be continued.

    • That’s because he cannot ask Christians to sing through Whatsapp. Ok it’s time for praise and worship so everyone to to the Whatsapp group,YouTube or Facebook live and watch brother Salifu Amankwa’s Yesu D) wo.
I do agree however with comments that suggest that the Prof’s suggestion would not for “strangers” that need to pray. The solution still lies in technology. We live in a period where you can locate a Waakye joint through an app and in the next couple of years, even public toilets would be found through apps.
Is it not time for one of the smart commentators to channel their anger at the prof effectively and develop an app for this purpose – free business advice.
You’re welcome my brothers. Let’s help each other- One Peoples One Ghana. Let’s face it, most Churches and to a lesser extent, Mosques are producing illegal noise levels and we need to find solutions. Perhaps, churches should pay for temper proof sound level meters to be installed outside their premises and get fined a percentage of their “income” when they exceed the stipulated decibel limits. If you’re going to comment directly to this post, criticise the content but come up with better solutions. If you take my advise and create an app, please donate my share of the profit to any charity for the hearing impaired in Ghana. I’m out.

      • I agree with you. Here in Europe there are apps e.g. Nearest Masjid etc that shows you locations of Masjids but Africa isn’t far from developing this too.
What of the bars, record sellers etc whose noise make people deaf?
May Allah protect us and our seen.

  5. Where was Mustapha Hamid when he said this? He should have schooled both his colleague minister and the general public that Islam is not based on innovations.
mr. Minister how do someone from techiman get a txt from an imam in mamobi when he visits Accra for prayers.

  6. Some of these politicians just speak anyhow so that Nana Addo will see their presence in his government.
I think he needs Obinim Sticker to think well

  7. My dear Muslim friends . Can’t you make your point without insults?. You guys have always brought violence wherever you find yourselves. Even in the mosque you have daggers in your pocket. The minister just made a suggestion and see the shit coming out of your “shit hole”
mouths. Concentrate on keeping your Zongos clean and leave the minister alone

  8. The minister only made a suggestion either your leadership will take his advise in GOOD faith or leave it , where from the insult? Which part of the Quran advises you people to insult a fellow man for his submissions… keep your Zongos CLEAN OR SHUT UP..

  9. @ Felix, you are doing the same thing you are accusing them of(insults). what makes you different, shame on you. Anyway, the minister should come again.

  10. Comment:am really not sure he deeply thought about this before airing it out. I think he must even apologize to all the Muslims in Ghana.

  11. what effort are you making to keep your area clean. Are zongo’s the only dirty place in Ghana? Foolish talk, next time think we’ll before u comment

  12. I am a Christian but was raised in a zongo community. aboabo in the Ashanti Region. Honestly I will rather leave near a mosque than to leave close to a church esp these one man churches with regards to noise pollution. sometimes only 2 people will b praying in a church but dey still choose to use the mic. @least wid the mosque there is nothing like all night. I don’t agree with you sir. let’s tackle the churches 1st

  13. Im a christian and seriously what the minister said doesn’t make sense at all. Hw can everyone be one whatsapp. Will he supply the phone + monthly data.. He shd think twice before making such huge suggestions..we Christians nd muslims hv bin livin peacefully nd we want dah always

  14. Because of noise? Churches use hours to make louder noises in the name of worship. Why not tell them to use whatsapp in their worship? Muslims use less than 5 minutes to call Adhan. Why are some people like the minister can’t hide their hate against Islam? Hypocrisy at its highest.

  15. Because of noise? Churches use hours to make louder noises in the name of worship. Why not tell them to use whatsapp in their worship? Muslims use less than 5 minutes to call Adhan. Why are some people like the minister can’t hide their hate against Islam? Hypocrisy at its highest.

  16. Please do not be provoked by listening to the minister. Because I know what would happen if you’re proved; there would be bombs every where. Forgive the minister for he has no idea what you can do when provoked. I don’t agree with the minister at all even though I’m not a Muslim. thank you for not allowing the minister to provoke you…hahahahahaha

  17. Then the government shld as well use WhatsApp and Facebook to adddress the nation at the independence square to address his presidency when he is elected.. Sometimes you guys think you can just say or suggestions anything just cos you are a man of power so people will follow… Do you know what a freedom of worship mean in your constitutional law… Even in America and Europe Muslim and Christian uses the microphone to call on people…. Instead of you concentrating on how to stop collecting loans from other countries and stop putting Ghana in debt you here concentrating on how religion shld call people to worship.. Some suggestions is an Insult so those of you saying can’t Muslim stop insult then you are animals ur selves.. Kwasia Asem…

  18. Please do not be provoked by listening to the minister. Because I know what would happen if you’re provoked; there would be bombs every where. Forgive the minister for he has no idea what some of you guys can do when provoked. I don’t agree with the minister at all even though I’m not a Muslim. But, thank you for not allowing the minister to provoke you…hahahahahaha

    • Are you not also provoking with our words gentleman. What do you mean by bomb? Your statement tells what your perception is about the islamic religion. I advice you read widely on Islam and you will see how peaceful it is. I always say ignorance is a disease on its own and seeking accurate knowledge is a cure.

  19. Please do not be provoked by listening to the minister. Because I know what would happen if you’re provoked; there would be bombs every where. Forgive the minister for he has no idea what you can do when provoked. I don’t agree with the minister at all even though I’m not a Muslim. thank you for not allowing the minister to provoke you…hahahahahaha

  20. Ignorance is a disease they say. Minister, channel your energies in creating jobs for the unemployed youth and stop making irresponsible statement with regards to our way of worship. Stop creating religious tension and problems for your own party.

  21. who is that fucking stupid imbecile foolish animal who cal himself a minister, make we tell am he is very stupid fool, churches wey them dey make noise everyday weekends and midweek all in the name of fucking services that o
ne he no see wey he dey talk dem make them minimise kwasia stupid like that, make dem talk am make he know ever in his life talk about muslims because he knows nothing about ISLAM and no humanbeing in this earth can teach us MUSLIMS how to practice our RELIGION.
Even the President cant fucking tell us what to do us MUSLIMS because we dont follow the command of humanbeing but ALLAH.

  22. These are some statement people will make and the quick temped Muslims will react and it will be like Muslims are violent.
    1) How many people are using smart phones or whassApp phones?
    2) How many have credit to always be on-line?
    3) Network can also be a factor to hinder the spread of the time info.
    4) How many people in your family can read and write?
    5) Did you consider what goes on in churches these days?
    6) How many religious denominations have you ever help in your community in order to carry out or spreed the word of God?
    7) Islam is not a business centered.
Sometime before you talk you have to think over it before, you don’t just say things out before thinking over it. By the way, May the curse of the Almighty God be on that STUPID MINISTER.

  23. I guess there is no verse either in bible that advises you to insult your fellow Ghanaians or neighbors. You are equally doing the same thing you are accusing them of(insults). what makes you different, shame on you.
The minister must think critically before passing such suggestions, because it may result to a very BIG issue, I’m really disappointed…….

  24. This doesn’t require any response cos he said it out of day dreaming. He shd b chkd from d head or he myt hv suffered a head coalition b4

  25. Pls let’s not be harsh on Prof with negative words cos he rather needs to educated for Allah to guide him to light of Islam. His remarks were influenced by his academic orientation not Islamic. May Allah guide us all. Ameen

  26. COMMON SENSE IS NOT COMMON TO COMMON PEOPLE LIKE THE USELESS PROFESSOR. ISLAM IS THE RELIGION OF ALLAH HIMSELF AND NOT A RELIGION OF ENOVATION
MR. MINISTER, GO AND FUCK YOURSELF. BITCH

  27. Free advices to the minister,
    1. He should appologize and retrait from his blaspheming statement. For Religion whether Christianity or Islam, both were not, under no circumstance should they under go suggestive transformation. Per Islamic teachings, Allah knows best. You add not nor remove not. I don’t know much of christianity, but I believe it was written in the bibble imparatively, that you should not add nor remove but fulfil the laws. If really the minister is of the bases of at least, christian, and per the denial of renovations by both religions, I think he owed not only muslims, but both religious denominations an appology.
    2. Having suggested such blasphemous, and to mentain the integrity of Ghana as a peaceful nation and for that matter the NPP political party, I advice he should tender his resignation. Since its obvious that, he knows nothing much about the whole environment, n of course muslims are included. Also fraction of the environment demands an appology from the NPP and the Government since we are all included in the government, n many of us are members of NPP
    Thank you.

  28. Am not surprise that, he made such comments.
Islam is a the most peaceful religion on earth and will always be. But someone who is well educated will never on earth think of such nonsense because how many Muslims in Ghana here can read and write and how many of them uses what’s up phone.
It will never happens on this earth and he can go ahead and burn the sea if he so desired.

  29. I respect this man a lot due to his cintribution to the development of science in Ghana but I didn’t know he was such an idiot. Did he really thought about this bulls shit befiore vomiting it out?

  30. Patrick you are a fool, animal.your type should not be part of a society.instead of to come out with something good in you.you are rather adding more fire.God knows the reason you are supporting the minister with the suggestion he made.why will you fellow wrong suggestion because good food.bring comments that you think will bring peace to Ghana and not bombs matter.infact you are evil. I reserve my comments because I know one good Patrick.
It means you are the illegal Patrick.
Brothers less consider this suggestion us an experience. Islam first.Ghana first. And never wish that Ghana should be without peace .Thank you

  31. Ghana is a cheap ccountry so Any body at all can bisect that pit hole they call their mouths at any convienient angle and vomit out any rubish to the Muslim. Next Time think before you talk. Idiot

  32. Assalamu alaikum my dear Muslim brothers and sisters
Please I know I understand and feel your pains but remember that worse things were said to the prophet Mohammed Sallalahu alaihi Wassalam but he never retaliated in a similar manner. Please let us not resort to insults to handle such issues and let us consider such incidence as an opportunity to make daawa. It will surprise you to know that this Minister in question doesn’t have any knowledge about Islam except that portrayed by the media. Also remember Allah can guide anyone at anytime to the truth, for example companions like Umar ibn Khattab, Khalid Ibn Walid etc May Allah bless them. A current example is our own Scholars and Daees, Khalid Yasin and Yussif Estes among others May Allah bless them. The Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu alaihi wassalam said let he who believe say that which is good or remain silent.
And to our brothers and sisters from other faiths, try to learn more about another religion before making any comment or suggestions, you might think it is a harmless suggestions but that might not be the case. Would you like it if people misjudged you or make statements that belittle your ideologies and believe? Please do unto others as you like them to do onto you.
I would like to plead that the minister should apologize to Muslims for his statement. It will hurt every Muslim in the world who truly understands the essence of the Azaan.
He could have suggested that the intensity should be monitored just like how he suggested for the Christians.
I would also like to apologize on behalf of my hurt Muslim brothers and sisters who replied in a hash manner out of anger and pain.

  33. The Azaan
God is the Greatest God is the Greatest
God is the Greatest God is the Greatest
I bear witness that there is no god except Allah
I bear witness that there is no god except Allah
I bear witness that Mohammed (Sallalahu alaihi Wassalam) is his messenger
I bear witness that Mohammed (Sallalahu alaihi Wassalam) is his Messenger
    Come to prayer(Salat)
    Come to prayer(Salat)
    Come to Success
    Come to Success
God is the Greatest God is the Greatest
There is no god but Allah

  34. Does the so call himself professor no the important of the Azaan or call to pray?
The bandacot minister need to be in the bush where there’s no noise and be rule animals and trees what does the bible he’s holding tell’s him about call to pray (Azaan) revelation 7:10-11,Nehemiah 9:4 Psalm 55:16 many to mention, does he go church, we need energetic professors who can suggest and gave proves not something like you, in fact use your professional thinking to suggest and don’t ever try to suggest for Muslims again OK. Do you know where we “Muslims” pray?
Is not mandatory for us to pray in one particular mosque go back and learn from scratch.

  35. The Minister is ill informed about the dictates of Islam. His suggestion can not even be given a thought. The call for prayer (Azan) is an essential ingredient in Islam. More so the Azan normally wouldn’t last for more than 3 minutes. He should come again.

  36. Mr. Minister, be an exemplary citizen by first, putting your phone permanently on silent, then you car should be silent too, other citizens will copy you and the pollution will fine another citizenship.

  37. in tackling the issue of noice and environmental polution, religion should not be the first area to start from. lets control noice ensuing from musics all over our community.
secondly ,if we abide by the principles of truth and justice, we will all know that churches make the most disturbing noice.

  38. Young boys like the patrick boy,its unfortunate you havent travelled across the country to meet strangers who would receive you well like you wouldnt be making cheap allegations about muslims from Ghana.Anyway i can see this serves a platform to make Ghanaians know you also exist in this peaceful country.
