Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has handed Unity Air, a subsidiary of Unity Group of companies it Air Operator Certificate in a ceremony at the offices of GCAA, Accra yesterday.

Managing Director of GCAA Simon Allotey commended management of Air Futures, operators of Unity Air and the Unity Group for venturing into the aviation industry.

“You made a very wise decision to invest in the aviation industry, on behalf of the GCAA certification team, we will ensure that we get back to you,” said the GCAA boss.

Chief Executive Officer, Unity Air, Bethel A Donkor said “We want to ensure that operations are safe, on time and reliable. Our competition is not with other airline operators, but with the road transport sector. We want to give the travel public the very best.”

He added “We are set to make a mark in the aviation, we believe GCAA will in future look back and say we are one of the best in the industry. We are starting with a new aircraft and hoping to add more soon.
Executive Chairman of Unity Group, Professor Dr Kwame Kyei mentioned that his quest to ensure affordable fares in domestic aviation stirred him to birth the venture stating “ We will ensure that we offer moderate fares, fares that will not scare the public, fares that will encourage all to patronize the facility. When that happens it boosts businesses; as we all know, time is money. Why spend hours in business when you can do the same business in minutes?.

“This is for all of us, we will ensure we maintain high standards, we won’t compromise in efficiency and all that will make us a leader in domestic air transport.”
