An Accra Circuit Court on Monday granted bail to Kwame Darko a 36-year-old unemployed in the sum of GHC10,000.00 with two sureties for allegedly possessing quantity of narcotic drugs and escaping from lawful custody.
Darko, alias “Aponkye Rasta,” pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He will make his next appearance on December 8.
Police Chief Inspector William K. Boateng told the Court presided over by Madam Ruby Naa Ayeetey that the prosecution witnesses are traders at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.

The accused was a known trickster who outsmarts innocent people who wanted to buy mobile phones at Circle by giving them fake phones moulded with tiles or in the shape of a soap.
He said on October 31, this year, the prosecution witnesses spotted the accused luring another unsuspecting person to fall for his tricks when they interfered.
The Prosecution said Darko was about selling tiles moulded in the form of an Infinix cellular phone to a customer when the witnesses jumped on him.

He said a search conducted on him revealed an original Infinix Hot 5, another tile moulded in the form of a phone, and a brown wrapper containing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Prosecution said, Darko was apprehended and handed over to the Police where he initially denied the offence in his caution statement but later admitted it.
Chief Inspector Boateng said on November 7, this year, whilst further statement was being obtained from him at the Police Darko took to his heels but was re-arrested after a hot chase.

The Prosecution said the narcotic exhibit has been forwarded to the Police Forensic laboratory for examination.
