A trader who is accused of defiling his 12-year-old daughter at Baatsona on the Spintex road has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with defilement. King Arthur has however denied the offence.

The court presided over by Mrs. Rita Abrokwah Doko has admitted Arthur to bail in the sum of GHC20,000 with three sureties.

One of the sureties should be a public servant within the Accra metropolis, the court has said.

It further ordered Arthur to report to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Baatsona every Friday pending the outcome of the trial.

Arthur is expected to reappear on March 8.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire, said the complainant is a seamstress and mother of the victim while Arthur is the father of the victim.

The Prosecution said Arthur resides at Temple Gate, a suburb of Baatsona – Spintex.

Chief Inspector Atimbire said the victim has been staying with her mother who relocated to Nungua after she and the accused separated.

He said during the month of January this year, the complainant brought the victim to live with the accused and her stepmother.

The prosecution said the victim’s stepmother also travelled to visit her relatives and on January 5th and 12th, this year, and some other days within the same month, Arthur had sex with the victim who screamed for help on those occasions but accused gagged her.

The prosecution said the accused had pulled a knife and threatened to kill the victim if she disclosed the act to anyone.

The prosecution said on the third occasion when the victim was defiled she informed her mother as she could no longer bear the pain.

The complainant then reported the matter to the Police at Baatsona on February 5, this year where a medical report form was issued to the complainant to seek medical care for the victim.

The prosecution said the accused was later arrested by the Police.
