Founder of Philteng Medical Centre, Dr. Philemon Mensah, is urging couples who engage in oral sex to use alternative means to satisfy their partners.
According to him, oral sex has been linked with an increased risk of Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) infection in the mouth with an increased risk of developing throat cancers.

Contributing to a discussion on the issue on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Friday, Dr. Mensah warned that those engaging in oral sex were twice more likely to have oral HPV infection than those who did not engage in oral sex.
He reveled that, mouth cancer is on the rise and the spread of HPV from oral sex could be the main reason because it [HPV] affects the skin found in areas of the body exposed to moisture including the mouth, rectum, cervix and throat.

“The highly contagious virus is commonly contracted through unprotected sexual activity”, he added.
As an alternative, Dr. Mensah advised men to, instead of using their tongue to stimulate the clitoris, use their fingers to prepare their partners for penetration.
The Philteng Medical Centre boss, however, says there is no need for individuals in monogamous relationships to restrict their sexual activities if the pair are in good health.

“It is more dangerous to engage in oral sex if you have multiple partners because you don’t know who carries the virus but if you are sure about your husband or wife, you can engage in a healthy oral sex”.
Dr. Philemon Mensah called on people to always go for screening and check-up to guard against cancer of any kind.

  1. Aside throat cancer, Men are also introducing other organisms into the partners Vagina as well leading to vaginal inflammations,Hence even if partners trust each men must always ensure the buccal cavity is clean before engaging in Oral sex.
